My car was impacted by the exact issue impacting Honda HRV's manufactured in 2022, but my VIN does not show that I am eligible. This is a mistake and I would ask NHTSA to investigate other 2022 HRVs which may be impacted by this recall (information posted below). Summary American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2019-2022 model year HR-V vehicles. The power circuit in the display audio unit was improperly designed. When the engine is started with an ignition key, the cranking can cause the battery's state of charge to drop, which may prevent the display audio from booting up, resulting in the failure to display the rearview camera image. Additionally, vehicles previously repaired with the initial software update received a version that insufficiently corrected the display audio unit boot up procedure, resulting in the failure to display the rearview camera image. Safety Risk If the display audio unit does not boot up, the rearview camera image will not display, which may affect the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash or injury. Remedy Registered owners of all affected vehicles (including previously repaired vehicles) will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will reprogram the display audio unit with updated software containing the proper boot up procedure. Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA. For additional questions, owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Had my car parked in my house garage. Drove out of garage to go to work. While waiting on garage to close, heard an explosion and realized my back windshield shattered. When I got out to inspect and take pictures, it shattered even more. Took to dealership. Waiting to hear back from Honda corporate. Tired of issues with this car.

We experienced two problems with our Honda HRV, which was purchased in June 2025 (less than a year ago). The first issue is that the engine started displaying warning lights and would not turn on. This was due to rodents chewing on the wires, which were apparently soy-based plastic. The second issue is that the rear windshield shattered for no reason the other day. This is apparently a known issue with 2023 and 2024 HRV vehicles that led to a recall, but it also appears to be occurring with the 2025 HRV.

- #11713592January 27, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Subject: Safety Complaint – 2022 Honda HR‑V – Intermittent Unintended Acceleration While Braking I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect in my 2022 Honda HR‑V. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has unexpectedly accelerated while I was pressing the brake pedal. This behavior is intermittent, unpredictable, and dangerous. Description of the Issue: While slowing down or coming to a stop, the vehicle will occasionally surge forward despite my foot being firmly on the brake. The engine revs and the vehicle attempts to move forward against braking force. This is not driver error. It occurs without any warning lights, alerts, or diagnostic messages. Operating Conditions When the Problem Occurs: - Low‑speed braking (parking lots, stop signs, traffic - Foot fully on the brake pedal - No cruise control active - No pedals obstructed - Normal road and weather conditions Safety Concerns: This defect creates a clear risk of: - Rear‑end collisions - Pedestrian injury - Property damage Loss of vehicle control The behavior is consistent with an electronic brake/throttle control malfunction, including possible issues with the brake pedal position sensor, accelerator pedal sensor, brake booster pressure sensor, or driver‑assist modules (ABS, ESC, CMBS). Other HR‑V owners have reported similar incidents. Dealer Response: The issue is intermittent, and the dealership has been unable to reproduce it. No repairs have been performed. No diagnostic codes were stored. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential unintended acceleration defect affecting the 2022 Honda HR‑V. This problem poses a significant safety hazard to me and to the public. Thank you for your attention to this matter. The fuel gauge, odometer, and trip meter portion of the instrument cluster functions only intermittently. In most instances, the display turns on but shows scrambled, incorrect, or misleading information. This defect has created multiple situations in which we were unaware that the vehicle was close to running out of fuel, placing us at risk of becoming stranded in remote areas of our state (New Mexico). Although the low-fuel warning light does illuminate, depending on our location, it may not provide sufficient warning to reach a gas station safely. This issue was confirmed by a local Honda dealer and has existed since approximately one year after the vehicle was purchased.

When I turned my car on, the airbag system (SRS) Problem light was on. I was worried if it was an airbag problem, or sensor problem, so I brought the vehicle in for inspection at two locations. The first location was an independent service center, in which I was told it was a sensor problem. They weren't available to repair or needed an appointment to thoroughly check the problem. Therefore, I made an appointment for the next day at a Honda dealership. I thought that my vehicle may have been a part of the safety recall from the service bulletin 24-036. Upon inspection and a partial diagnosis (they didn't took apart my vehicle near the wheel or touch screen/audio for the sensor underneath), I was told I had a sensor problem under the front passenger seat with the code error U3000-49. However, I was told that my vehicle was not covered under the safety recall. I'm afraid of whether my airbags will be working properly if the sensor isn't working. There was no warning lights, symptoms of problems, or messages prior to the sensor light turning on.

12/7/2025 at about 7:20pm and about 17518 miles: grandparent were driving home and brakes failed as grandpa was parking in the driveway. He said after applying the brakes the car keep rolling forward and hit the garage door then rolled backwards, brake did not stop backward movement for over a minute. No injuries. Inspection from insurance and collisions repair center found no cause for brake failure. 01/4/2026 at about 8:16pm and approximately 18122 miles: as my mom was approaching a main road with 55 mph traffic to turn left the brakes failed to bring the car to a complete stop at the intersection causing the car to roll into on coming traffic. She said when she applied the brakes they seem to engage at the start and slowed the vehicle a little bit but did not seem to apply “full braking” to actually stop the car. Oncoming traffic did manage to swerve around car as mom maneuvered it into the middle lane, while it continued to coast down the road for a short distance the brakes failed did come back enough to drive home. Will be sending to Honda deal for though inspection.

I had just arrived home from a short 2 mile drive and was sitting in my car for a few minutes with the vehicle running when the rear glass suddenly shattered. Confused and startled, I got out of the car to inspect what happened and noticed the the entire glass was shattered and left and right edges broken more than the rest. While taking photos, the middle of the glass caved in. This is a known issue, and the manufacturer issued a recall regarding this. The rear windshield was replaced last December by the dealer.

Drove to work on Friday morning 12/12/25. Parked my car in my work parking lot. At 5pm when I returned to my car, when I entered my car and closed the door, I heard a shattering noise, I looked around and in my rearview mirror I saw a hole right through the middle of my rear window. I exited my car and when I closed the door, the rest of the window finished shattering and fell in. I found out there was a soft recall regarding the rear window and the adhesive used. I went to the Yonkers service center on 50 Yonkers Ave here in Westchester County on Saturday 12/13/25,spoke with a rep who was very courteous, explained the recall I found on-line regarding rear window recall and set up an appointment for that Monday 12/15/25. Dropped off car to service center, received a call the next day from the rep saying they cannot do anything about it because the Technician found nothing wrong. I explained it was a manufacturers defect and it should be covered. Then called the dealer and I explained the situation, called me back and gave me the same explanation. I then reached out to the corporate offices and they said I would have to pay out of pocket. I find this very unacceptable.

My vehicle, 2025 Honda HRV EX-L is experiencing paint defects. It does not even have 3000 miles on it, and the paint is peeling. The color is Crystal Black Pearl, and even though outdoor elements are removed from the vehicle immediately, the car is still experiencing paint damage. The paint is cracking and peeling off in multiple areas where outside elements have hit it (tree sap, bird poop, pollen, etc.), the damage is still occurring even if removed immediately. Honda will not honor their paint defect warranty, as they claim this is environmental damage that would not be covered under their paint defect warranty. I was informed that their paint warranty only covers events where the paint is bubbling and cracking from under the paint, or rust is occurring. This defect is happening on a new vehicle, whereas older modeled black vehicles at the same residence, who leaves these environmental elements on the cars longer than I, do not experience the same damage in the slightest. Another vehicle within the same household that was purchased at the same Honda Dealership, about 2 months prior to my purchase, same environment/neighborhood/outside exposure, just different make (CRV) and color (blue) and isn't experiencing paint damage like this black crystal pearl color on the HR-V. Having to pay over $2000 out of pocket to fix the paint on these areas.

While driving, the vehicle experienced a serious steering malfunction. The right front wheel does not respond properly to steering input, while the left wheel responds normally, resulting in uneven steering and loss of directional control. The issue occurred without warning and created an immediate safety risk, especially during turns and lane changes. The vehicle became difficult to control and unsafe to operate. The problem has occurred more than once and is not consistent with normal wear and tear for a vehicle of this age and mileage. A Honda dealership inspected the vehicle and recommended replacement of the complete steering rack, including inner tie rods, boots, and clamps. The dealership also recommended replacement of the right drive axle due to a damaged outer joint. No warning lights or dashboard messages appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle required inspection and repair due to the safety risk.
