While driving, the steering wheel either jerks or becomes sticky in the left or right position in an unsafe manner. This has become an everyday occurrence for this vehicle.

UNKNOWN. While driving on the highway at 60MPH for 30+ minutes, the steering wheel began to stick when making small adjustments to stay in the lane or when driving through curves. It was over 80 degrees outside during both instances of this happening. No warning lights were on, lane assist was OFF, cruise control was ON. The possibility of over-correcting into the opposite lane or off the road is high, especially in inclement weather with less traction. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The dealership is attempting to reproduce the issue.

A few times (4-5 times) the car activated the automatic emergency braking feature while I was driving. There were no obstacles, vehicles, or people in my path. The system simply activated. The cars behind me nearly crashed into me.

- #11583378April 16, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
All driver assistance functions (Adaptive Cruise, Automatic Emergency Braking, Collision Warning, Lane Departure, Lane Keep Assist, and probably the Blind Spot Warning too) failed simultaneously, as indicated by warning lights and messages on the instrument panel. (Also failing were the Brake Hold function, and the parking brake, and the brake failure light was also illuminated, though the brakes did appear to function.) (The Check Engine Light also illuminated, though the engine continued to operate.) The root cause of the failure (as determined by the dealer) was failed fuel injectors causing the engine to run too rich. Yes, it is odd that failed fuel injectors cause a complete and total failure of the driver assistance features, but apparently this is not an uncommon failure mode for this particular problem on this model of engine.

I own a 2017 Honda CRV and my complaint is various warning lights such as the brake system, lane departure, ACC & forward collision warning illuminated on the dash with the dashboard. There are MANY other Honda consumers who have faced/facing similar instances. I have attended to reboot the system three times to clear these messages. A new battery was installed June 2023.

While driving either straight or turning the vehicle seems to "stick" even the tiniest bit. When turning it feels as if the tires are stuck or while driving straight, maintaining a straight line can be complicated by the steering feeling as if it is stuck. Even the tiniest bit of movement in the steering is a jerking motion rather than fluid movement. It is a very scary and dangerous feeling while driving. I have tried contacting my dealership and can't seem to get anywhere. This is EXTREMELY frustrating!

I contacted my local Honda dealer per the recall letter back in Summer of 2023. Dealer stated that rather than do the recall inspection , they would wait until they got a recall repair kit in so I didn’t have to make a possible 2 trips. The dealer stated they would contact me. It’s now April 15, 2024 and still haven’t been contacted yet.

- #11583117April 15, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving my car in the city going 40 mph down a 4-lane road. There was no other traffic on the road at that time ahead of me, and the conditions of the roadway were dry with sunny weather. My vehicle's dashboard flashed and indicated automatic emergency breaking a couple of times, and suddenly slammed on the brakes. If the driver behind me had not been paying attention, then they could have rear-ended me causing injuries to the occupants of both vehicles. I was able to keep the vehicle in my lane, but the seatbelt knocked the air out of me due to the abrupt nature of the stop. I called the dealership, and they were not sure what caused it but informed me that I should wait until it does it again before bringing it in to be recalibrated.

Vehicle has about 8,120 miles on odometer. When going straight at 45 MPH for 1/4 mile, turning either right or left requires greater force to turn the steering wheel - it gets "stuck" in the straight position. This is referred to as the "sticky steering issue". It causes the driver to use more than normal force to free the wheel from stuck, but then when free, wheel turning resistance goes much lower. Sometimes this causes the vehicle to move over in the lane more than the driver intended, when the steering wheel "unsticks". The local Honda dealer has confirmed the problem, BUT, now says replacement steering parts to fix are a 7 month wait...This is quite unreasonable to wait for a warranty repair on a potential safety issue.

When I'm driving at highway speeds, and have been in a lane for some time, if the lane starts to arc to the right or left, I find that I have to exert some force to get the car to follow the lane. In other words, the steering wheel seems to be stuck to keep the car going in a particular direction, and requires me to "un-stick-it" to stay in my lane. this issue also occurs when I'm managing a highway overpass, wherein, if I have to change the arc of the turn tighter or looser to stay in my lane, I'll have to exert some force to un-stick the steering wheel. I can't remember when I haven't had this problem with the car, since I typically don't drive highways that often - most of my driving is on city streets, however, I believe I started noticing this problem since the Fall of 2023. I'll drive to check on a project I have in Arlington, TX or to an office building I manage in Farmers Brach, TX from my home in Plano, TX about one or twice a month, and that's when I'll notice it. The most recent time I noticed it was this past Sunday [XXX] as I drove from my home in Plano to Farmers Branch (approx 15 miles one way). When vehicle is operating on a curve either going left or right the steering is binding requiring driver to apply force to correct steering. First year had not experienced. This year it is progressively getting worse. Vehicle was purchased June 2022 and now April 2024. I am reading this complaint across multiple on-line platforms for Honda CR-V's.

CMBS braking malfunction. The car will brake on its own at highway speeds due to thinking you were going to crash when there are no other objects or vehicles in the roadway. Issue has become more frequent and I have found many forums and articles online of people with these issues, but my car Cannot be fixed, the dealer has no idea what to do. i’ve had this issue since my car only had 18,000 miles on it last year. It is going to cause a crash. At times it brakes to the point where I am almost stopped on the highway.

- #11582838April 14, 2024ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN
I was driving my Honda CRV 2017 on I-65 in Birmingham - Montgomery area in Alabama in March 2024 and suddenly in the middle of the busy highway the vehicle stalled and wouldn’t drive even after stepping on the accelerator a little harder. I then turned on my emergency lights to signal to the behind vehicles that I have and emergency situation became I was in the middle of a busy highway and the vehicle simply wouldn’t drive. I managed to pull aside of the highway and turned the engine off because I didn’t know what the issue was. After a few minutes I started the vehicle again and drove a few miles and the vehicle stalled again. After a couple of repeated cycle, I got the vehicle to a nearby Honda dealership for diagnostic testing which later revealed that the fuel injectors, the head gasket, the turbo system etc were causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle is currently not drivable and has since been with the Honda dealership as I am writing. With taxes, the dealership is charging me approximately $5000 USD to fix this problem, money that I cannot afford. Not knowing what to do, I did a brief research to see if anyone else has experienced this issue before and I found out in the consumer report that other drivers have actually experienced exactly the same issue that happened to my vehicle. I currently do not have any additional vehicle for commuting and I am forced to use rented vehicles with the rental cost accumulating on the daily basis while my vehicle remains with the dealership. I am therefore writing this notification for Honda to look into this potentially risk safety incidence and help Honda CRV owners and myself get this problem fixed because such experience doesn’t boost consumer confidence for both current and future Honda CRV owners. Thanks

- #11582853April 14, 2024UNKNOWN OR OTHER, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
All of the warning lights came up on my dash and stayed on for almost 24 hours on this most recent occasion of this problem indicating that there was all of the following: emissions systems problem, brake system problem, power steering system problem, VSA problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control, problem, road departure mitigation, and hill start assist problem. This was approximately the 5th time that this has happened. The problem occurred when I turned the car back on and started to drive after it had been turned off for 10 minutes. This problem seems to be triggered by 2 different events: either idling (like in a drive thru line for a long time) the car, or, after starting the car after it has been turned off of a short period of time. The previous incidence of this problem was on January 7, 2024.
