I am reporting a severe factory design defect regarding water intrusion into the EVAP emissions system on my 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid (VIN: [XXX]) After driving home in a normal rainstorm, the vehicle threw diagnostic trouble code P24C0 (EVAP system leak detection pump switching valve stuck ON). The authorized Honda dealership diagnosed the issue as "water intrusion" and charged me an out-of-pocket fee. The dealer's official service invoice explicitly states that the water intrusion occurred from "driving through a puddle." Driving through a standard road puddle or driving in a rainstorm constitutes standard, expected, and necessary vehicle operation. The EVAP canister is a federally mandated emissions component that must legally remain sealed against atmospheric leaks. Because normal road moisture can bypass factory shielding and flood or damage this critical component, it represents a clear engineering and manufacturing defect in sealing and part placement, rather than owner negligence. Honda is systematically denying factory warranty coverage to owners for this specific issue by labeling normal road rain as "outside environmental damage." This leaves drivers facing thousands of dollars in unfair repair bills for a design vulnerability. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this systemic issue to force a formal safety recall or Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) ensuring retroactive reimbursement and a corrected undercarriage shield design. The vehicle was purchased Aug 7th and since delivery date the car has been having issues. The primary issue is the infotainment system, the monitor sometimes disconnects from apple CarPlay abruptly. During the use of this feature the navigation system will also disconnect making it unsafe when using navigation. The vehicle has a persistent problem with squeaking and tapping noise coming from the engine Bay Area. When going over and bumps or uneven surfaces the car rattles. The vehicle also has worse mpg than advertised. Currently getting 22.4mpg with ECON active.

One of the rear sensor batteries randomly stopped working. All the features stopped working and would light up the whole dashboard, including TPMS, automatic braking, cruise control, etc. Did not feel safe while driving due to all of the safety features not working. Had it checked out by an independent auto body shop and fixed. No warning lights of the specific problem, just said there was a problem with everything. Happened immediately after pumping gas into my car.

My 2016 Honda CR‑V has only had one driver since purchase and currently has approximately 86,000 miles. It has been properly maintained, yet it is experiencing the same symptoms described in Honda’s recent warranty extension concerning head-gasket failures. Despite its relatively low mileage and limited use, the vehicle appears to have experienced a premature engine-related failure. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether this issue affects earlier model-year CR‑Vs as well. I also request that my vehicle be included in the applicable warranty coverage or that Honda provide appropriate coverage for the diagnosis and repair.

Vehicle Affected: 2007 Honda CR-VRelated Recall: NHTSA Recall Campaign Number 23V228000 (Rear Frame Stiffener Brackets)Description of Incident:I am reporting a severe safety issue regarding how a Honda dealership and American Honda Motor Co. are executing Safety Recall 23V228. I presented my vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer for the rear frame rust inspection. (Lundgren Honda of Auburn MA) The technician "passed" the vehicle and offered to install the remedy support brace because the specific trailing arm bolt hole could technically receive a bolt. However, the dealer completely ignored a catastrophic structural failure directly adjacent to the recall site. The actual boxed structural frame rail just one inch above the bolt hole has completely disintegrated, leaving giant holes and heavily flaking, hollowed-out metal. Per Honda's official recall service bulletin instructions, the reinforcement brace must be securely anchored to structurally sound frame metal. Slapping a bracket onto a tiny piece of metal while the supporting frame rail above it is entirely gone creates an extreme liability and does not fix the safety risk of a suspension collapse. I contacted Honda Corporate Customer Support to escalate this. Despite providing clear photographic proof that the structural integrity of the frame rail is gone, Honda is giving me severe pushback and delaying action on my open case file. They are ignoring a severe structural failure at the exact recall site to avoid their legal obligation for a vehicle buyback. The vehicle remains an immediate highway hazard. I have attached photographic evidence showing the gaping hole in the frame rail directly next to the recall bolt location. The car would not pass a safety inspection from a MA State inspection facility, and they refused to sticker it, or put tires on it....

I was driving my 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid on the [XXX] on Sunday, XXX. 5 minutes prior to reaching the interchange where the [XXX] connects to the [XXX], all of the lights on my dashboard flash on, but the car was still running. I got onto the [XXX] and prior to reaching the [XXX] exit, my car suddenly stops accelerating at full power. As I push on the accelerator, I can barely move my car. I pull over to the side of the highway and put my car in park. Quietly panicking (not to stress out my [XXX] old who was sleeping in the backseat), I put my car back in drive and see that I can slowly move forward. I get back onto the freeway and exit via the [XXX] exit. There is a park right there so I slowly circled around until I found a spot to park my car. I called AAA and they came and tested my battery and said there weren't any issues. They advised me not to drive my car anymore and called a tow, and brought my car to the Honda Dealership back near me home 45 minutes away. The dealership was closed, but they called me on Monday and said they would need to diagnose my car. I preferred that my mechanic take care of my car, so I had my car towed there instead. The issue he diagnosed is provided in the screenshots: "P2101 Electric Throttle Control System (ECTS) Malfunction". Both my mechanic and I looked online and there seems to be an open investigation into this (NHTSA ID 11556108) and when you look online, there are MANY other owners complaining about the same thing happening, some with much less miles on their car than mine. There is clearly an issue and something needs to be done. Having your car all of a sudden slow down drastically while driving on an extremely busy [XXX] highway with a [XXX] in your backseat was terrifying. Please investigate this further, I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this with the same model of car. While driving with my 3yr old in the car multiple dashboard warning lights suddenly illuminated simultaneously (including the Check Engine light, Emissions system warning, and various safety sensor alerts). The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine power, rough idling, and hesitation upon acceleration, which created an immediate traffic hazard. I took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership service center. The diagnostic scan revealed a failure of the fuel injectors (with diagnostic trouble codes indicating a system too rich and cylinder misfires). The dealership service advisor informed me that this premature fuel injector failure is a highly common and widespread systemic defect with Honda’s 1.5L Turbo direct-injection engines, stating that their shop actively stocks these parts because they perform at least one of these replacements every week. This premature component failure at mileage (105,136 miles) is a severe safety risk that causes unexpected engine stalling or power loss while driving.

2021 CR-V Hybrid, approximately 103,000 miles. Multiple incidents of loss of propulsion at highway speed with engine shaking and a flashing MIL. Cycling the ignition restores normal operation, and the codes disappear. I have had it scanned, and no errors show up. Spark plugs and ignition coils have been replaced. The vehicle has also displayed an engine high-temperature/reduce-acceleration warning. This can be in relation to NHTSA Preliminary Evaluation PE25016 that has been documented by other owners.

Steering wheel sticking when I turn left and making ticking noise. Took it to Honda and I have to pay $5k to replace the steering wheel rack. They won’t tell me why this happened and it’s because they know the manufacturing part has a defect but they won’t put out a recall for this issue, even though Honda crv years 2023-2025 have an open recall for this issue.

NHTSA SAFETY COMPLAINT SUMMARY Vehicle Identification: 2021 Honda CR-V Touring (1.5L Turbo) VIN: [XXX] Current Mileage: 91,259 miles Failed Component: High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) & Associated High-Pressure Fuel System Diagnostic Trouble Codes: P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low) Technician Diagnostic Findings & Symptoms: Vehicle experienced sudden loss of power, erratically low fuel pressure under load, hard starting, and multiple dash warning lights. Independent repair shop technician confirmed the High-Pressure Fuel Pump was internally failing and dropping fuel pressure under load. The failing pump caused low fuel pressure readings at the fuel rail, resulting in severe engine power loss while driving. Total Repair Estimate Amount: $3,222.65 HPFP Assembly Replacement: $1,453.78 Fuel Pressure Rail Replacement: $1,193.80 Spark Plugs Replacement: $318.00 Engine Oil/Filter Change: $69.65 Safety Hazard Narrative: The internal mechanical failure of the high-pressure fuel pump causes a sudden loss of engine power and hesitation during vehicle acceleration, posing a severe traffic hazard and risk of rear-end collision when merging onto highways. Furthermore, internal HPFP failures on Honda 1.5L direct-injection engines can result in fuel dilution into the engine crankcase, risking major engine damage. One four occasions our 2020 Honda CRV Hybrid has started after sitting overnight in the greater Seattle area in the spring and summer with a rough idle. Within two miles of leaving our home at speeds of no more than 35 miles per hour, the check engine light began to flash. All four times, the rough idle and check engine light were accompanied by degraded speed responsiveness and the error cleared with turning the car on and off again. We have taken the vehicle to a mechanic twice and each time they couldn’t find any stored codes or replicate the issue. The issue continues to occur and seems to be getting worse. I’m concerned this will happen at high speeds and result in a total loss of power which will be unsafe.

The very first time I used the wiper fluid spray, it sprays too late, when the wipers are vertical. I have had the vehicle 1 month and it has 1000 miles on it. This will be extremely dangerous during winter when I can't get road spray off the windshield. I will be calling the dealership tomorrow. I noticed this just trying to get bug splats off the windshield. The washer fluid system is useless in my opinion.

The manufacturer, American Honda, issued a 10-year extended warranty (TSB 19-091) for defective, leaking A/C condensers on the 2017 Honda CR-V. Authorized Honda dealerships (specifically Napleton Honda and Victory Honda) are systematically misdiagnosing consumer vehicles to evade this warranty. Dealership service departments are blaming vehicle system failures on peripheral components (such as "return lines" and "discharge lines") to charge consumers thousands of dollars out of pocket. In my case, I was charged $868.44 and $1,184.49 for these lines, yet independent UV dye testing proved the factory condenser was actively leaking fluid the entire time. The vehicle’s passenger cabin cannot be cooled, causing severe heat discomfort. American Honda corporate case managers are actively protecting these dealer practices by offering minor "goodwill checks" instead of requiring dealers to perform the safety and equipment remedies mandated by the corporate warranty extension. Honda must be investigated for warranty non-compliance and consumer deception regarding this known HVAC system defect.
