Subject: Complaint — 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, Upper Grille Deflector Detached at Highway Speed. To the Office of Defects Investigation, I’m filing this complaint regarding my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. While driving on the freeway at approximately highway speed this afternoon, xxx, the upper grille trim piece located above the grille and in front of the hood spontaneously detached from the vehicle with no warning and no prior impact. It created a road hazard for other motorists. This matches the failure pattern described in Recall Query RQ26003, opened xxx, covering 2022 through 2024 Sierra 1500s. My truck is a 2024 and is not covered by Recall 25V-060, which only addressed certain 2022 models. I’m concerned the defect is not limited to the originally recalled population, and that the 2025 remedy may not have resolved the underlying attachment-point failure. I request that NHTSA include my vehicle and all similarly affected 2024 trucks in any expanded recall or investigation, and that GM be required to provide a free repair. Vehicle: 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. VIN:xxxxxxxx. Mileage: 64,952. Date of failure: xxx. Location: [XXX]. Thank you. - #11774171October 28, 2026ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the recall repair failed to prevent a failure from occurring after passing the PICO Test. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, there was an abnormally loud metal clashing sound coming from under the hood. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was test-driven, and the vehicle failed the new PICO Test. The failure mileage was approximately 23,400.

Purchased new and professionally installed and used for almost 3 years without issue. Driving on highway. Approx 75MPH. Cover was fully closed and locked into place. Nothing in bed of truck. Cover was attached to both of the safety D rings. I heard a noise, looked out rear mirror and saw the cover 10-15 feet in the air and then crash onto the highway. No one was behind me at the time or I would have likely caused a fatal accident. I immediately pulled off road. Ran back to where the cover was and had to wait for traffic to break before I could run into the highway and throw the cover off the side of the road into the woods. Cars were swerving out of the way to avoid the cover before I could get it. A few cars couldn’t get out of the way and ran it over. Luckily they were cars. If a motorcycle drove over it they would have crashed. I am very lucky no one died. Also, as you can see in the photos, the safety D rings on both sides of the bed were still intact and secured to the cover rails by the safety tether straps that were secured to the truck bed. Attached to the D rings are the safety brackets that appear to be made from a molded plastic. The brackets broke off the cover and remained attached to my truck. Potential major safety defect if the safety tether and D rings are still attached to my truck, but sheared off the heavy metal cover.

The upper front grille deflector (or chrome hood molding) on 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 with 38k miles broke off at 65 mph and hit the windshield. It could have cracked or hit a person or another car. No warning or prior issue at all. The plastic clips must have broke

My truck has experienced recurring diagnostic trouble code P244B on [XXX], [XXX], and [XXX], 2026. The latest occurrence included a check-engine warning and reduced engine power. On [XXX], at 40,833 miles, Neil Huffman Chevrolet GMC in Frankfort, Kentucky, diagnosed a damaged diesel particulate filter differential-pressure sensor connector. The dealership's written estimate states that the connector had shorted, begun melting, and had broken wires at the back of the connector. I am concerned about the cause of the electrical overheating, the possibility of additional wiring damage, and the risk of unexpected reduced engine power while driving. I have also experienced intermittent transmission-related warnings and communication fault codes, although I do not know whether these problems are related. I understand there are GM technical bulletins addressing wiring-harness damage on certain 3.0L Duramax vehicles. I am not claiming these bulletins establish the cause of my failure, but I would appreciate having my experience evaluated for a possible safety-related defect trend. My 2024 L87 already had the recall done and was changed over to 0w40 oil. Driving down the road at 70 mph the engine just shut off and I had to coast to the side of the road. Checked engine codes and found p0016. Had to have the truck towed to the dealership where they replaced the engine. Clearly the 0w40 did not fix the problem.

My vehicle has the loss of propulsion recall 25V-274. It was in for service on 5-12-2025 with NO REMEDY YET on my paperwork. 8-6-2025 the truck was in for service and passed the test that would have required immediate engine replacement. As per the recall, I was given different oil as a remedy for a faulty engine. Despite passing the test, I still lost propulsion on 6-11-2026. I was traveling on the highway at night, crested a hill and noticed while coasting that the engine was not running and the dash said "hit the start button again." When I did this everything turned off including the lights. I was still traveling at 65 MPH without lights. Luckily I didn't panic and the lights came back on when I hit the start button again. Once the vehicle coasted to a stop; and I put it in park the motor restarted. This incident was reported on 6-14-2026, complaint number 1174-4867. When I submitted this complaint, I started that GM needs to make a change so hitting the start button when the engine has stalled doesn't turn the lights off. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, they had it for two months, put around 1000 miles on it and returned it to me with no repairs made because they couldn't reproduce the problem. They returned it to me on 7-29-2026. They did not to the engine. I radio repair was unsuccessful so it went back to the dealer that same day. 8-10-2026 Vehicle return without repairs to the radio or engine. 10-10-2026 On my second drive on the highway since having the vehicle returned to me, the engine shut off again on the highway at 65 MPH. After coasting to a stop, the engine would not restart and it was towed to the dealership. They have the vehicle and are repairing the engine. My concern is that this vehicle passed a loss of propulsion recall, still had loss of propulsion twice. I have concerns for my safety in this vehicle. I do not have confidence the current repairs will not result in another loss of propulsion.

This form would only let me select one tire, but all four tires on our truck are like this. They have pretty severe cracking/tread degradation. The mileage is 25,687. This happened suddenly. We have our tires rotated every 3,000 miles. The tire size is 275/50/R22. This appears to be a manufacturer defect. Our truck is garage stored and all paved and highway miles. We have scheduled to have them replaced right away.

- #11773156October 23, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, STEERING
I was returning from the airport in [XXX] with my kids, driving northbound on [XXX] when my truck engine turned off without warning. The truck began to slow down while I was surrounded by traffic going roughly 70mph. I had difficulty steering and braking because the vehicle engine was off. I attempted to restart the vehicle while it was coasting and slowing to dangerously low speeds in interstate traffic. The vehicle would not turn back on. I managed to change lanes through traffic and get to the emergency shoulder of the roadway and stop. I was shaken up over the incident, feeling very anxious about nearly causing an accident on the interstate. My kids were also very scared. I had the truck towed to the dealership after hours and had to get someone to pick my kids and me up on the side of the interstate with our luggage. The next day the service department diagnosed the failure of the fuel control module causing the engine to turn off and, as a result, the power steering and power brakes to fail. I was without my truck for over a day while it was being repaired. This is a known problem with GM vehicles, many models having been recalled for this very part failure. This should definitely be something that should be recalled and fixed in all GM vehicles with this part, including my vehicle which has not been recalled for this. I paid for the repair and would like also for GM to reimburse me for the expense. I have attached the invoice. I was driving 65 MPH on a one lane highway, right when someone went by in the other lane. My front hood moulding (hood trim piece) flew off and hit my windshield. Then drug across the cab of the truck before landing in the road. This debris was now in the road causing other people to have to swerve to miss it. I turned around and put my hazards on and grabbed it from the middle of the road. This caused other motorists to stop in the roadway for me or go into the oncoming lane of traffic to go around me. The service center from the dealership I bought it at said I would have to bring it in for estimate and didn’t confirm if others have had this same issue. This happened one day ago and it has not been inspected by anyone. There was no warnings of any kind. I didn’t notice it shaking prior or anything, it just abruptly flew off.

Truck has been making a ticking noise for about the last four months. Yesterday, October 7, 2026 I stepped on the accelerator the engine paused a second and blew out gray smoke through my exhaust I saw in my rearview mirror. There is a delay in power from the time I put my foot on the accelerator when it actually gets moving faster.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. While the contact's husband was driving uphill approximately 32 - 34 MPH and hauling a trailer, the vehicle unexpectedly lost motive power and rolled backwards. The brake pedal was depressed, and the parking brake was engaged to stop the vehicle. OnStar and 911 were contacted. The trailer was towed to the residence, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer determined that an unknown software update had caused the failure. The dealer performed a repair under TSB: 6318272, updated the engine control module software, and completed an oil change and tire rotation. The failure mileage was 17,520.

The gauge cluster flickers and goes blank completely while driving, over head windshield screen display still works, and throws an - Accretion speed limited- message. Truck has electronics software issues, climate control flickers, works sometimes, most times doesn’t, loose electrical connections. Over all the gmc truck is a major software glitch and GMC does not want to take accountability for there lemon product which is very costly in repairs. Gmc service is not great and the warranty period of 36,000 miles is not justifiable. My truck has 68,000 all highway miles, not city miles. 2024 gmc Denali top in its class, and still has more issues than my 2007 gmc Sierra

Driving at approximately 45 mph on Berthod Pass in CO, towing a snowmobile flatbed trailer, when dash display indicated "low oil pressure, Turn off Engine". By the time I could read that, the engine was already off and I was all over the road trying to find a way to get off the highway. I did not have opportunity to get off highway, and ended up against a barrier, and partially remaining in traffic. GM towed the car (not the trailer, I had to do that myself) to a dealer quite some distance from my home as opposed to the dealer where I purchased the truck. Then they told me they towed it to a different dealer. After recovering my stuff, I went to the dealer where the truck was, and they said they couldn't look at it for several days. I could not wait several days simply to find out it was going to be a couple of months before id have the truck back. I traded it in on another, larger GMC simply to get out of that engine. What I learned though, is that GM used that exchange to make about $20K. This was more the dealer, but they are part of GM. My original truck was priced below book, and not the book the public can see, but the book they say they go by. They paid me $51K on an $87K truck for trade value. Then they sold the new truck at full price, no break. I was in disaster mode, as I had a large family gathering I was preparing for at our cabin, and did not have time to fight with them. The reason for the low book trade-in value was that the value of these trucks has plummeted because of the very reasons I was replacing it, GM's failure on those engines. My original truck had about 30K miles on it when it blew. The dealer told me that the one I was replacing it with (2026 Sierra HD with 6.6L Turbo Diesel) would get similar mileage, but that was untrue. I get about half the mileage I got in the first truck, and the price of diesel is about 20% more than gas. So they found a sucker on the first truck, then that same sucker bought the second one.
