Less than 5 minutes after my husband and 2 children parked the car and came inside, a neighbor walking rang our doorbell to let us know there was something on fire in our driveway. We ran to the back to find his truck engulfed in flames coming from the engine. We quickly called 911 and exited the house/property. The truck continued to burn with 20-25 foot flames and very black smoke for about 40 minutes until the fire department was able to control the fire. The fire was hot enough that the entire engine was significantly burnt, the seats and steering wheel were gone, the glass shattered and melted, and the tires exploded and melted. Thankfully, everyone was out of harms way and safe through this incident. However, it has been extremely traumatic on my family and neighbors and has taken a lot of time and energy to try to deal with this. The car sat in our driveway for over 2 weeks with a very potent smell causing headaches until GM and our insurance finally investigated. There is damage to our siding, driveway, landscaping, basketball hoop, trampoline, and neighbors fence. The car was only 2 years old and scares me how quickly it went up in flames and how much worse this could have been either 3 minutes earlier or if it was parked in our garage.

ENGINE
At just 600 miles, the 2023 GMC Sierra 3.0 Duramax gave out a check engine light. The code reader displayed a P0402. The truck had a very strong fume odor. The truck was taken to service two times. GM engineering made tests on the truck and concluded that the truck needs to be reprogrammed. I have a case number established with GM (case number 9-9217617941). If the program is bad, why release the product to the public? See attached invoice for details. This issue is present on almost all LZ0 GMC trucks based on people I've met in forums. Please help us.

My lifters bent and my valves collapsed. I have had the vehicle repaired twice. No engine light warning. Also in Nov of 2022 oil is leaking into my cylinders. Common problem on several GM forums.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:CATALYTIC CONVERTOR, ENGINE
The contact owns a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate above 30 MPH. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the catalytic convert needed to be replaced and cylinder #7 misfiring. The contact was informed that the rod bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, the contact had not yet received a response. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.

I DROVE UP TO A YIELD SIGN, WHEN ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR I STEP ON THE GAS THEN I HEARD MY ENGINE KNOCKING I TRIED TO GO BUT I ONLY COULD GET UP TO 30 MPH I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY DIAGNOSE IT AND SAID THAT THE NUMBER 7 CYLINDER HAD MISFIRED I HAD A MANCHANIC TO REPAIR IT AND IT COST ME $4200.00.

Engine began having ticking noise. I took it to dealer for repair. Service department finds the lifters in my engine have failed and destroyed my cam shaft. They call me and explain it will cost $10,000 to repair. The service writer explains to me that they have 4 of these each week come into the shop. It is so common that they keep the parts in stock to repair. While I was waiting in the waiting room another person came in with the exact same problem. I later found that a repair bulletin has been issues for this issue but for some reason it does not apply to my vin even though it is the exact same problem.

ENGINE
While driving on the highway, I got a message that said "low oil pressure, turn off engine" with red flashing lights. I could also smell burning oil and metal. I immediately pulled over and turned off my engine. When I exited my truck, I could see all of the oil that remained in my engine leaking onto the ground. My truck was towed to a local repair shop and they advised me that this is a common problem in this truck. The oil line blew likely due to a defective crimp. The mechanics can't repair the problem right away because this line is on a national backorder and there is no aftermarket option. This obviously happens too often if this part is on backorder. The mechanics believe there may have been damage done to the engine as a result of losing all of the oil on the highway.

TRANSMISSION CHANGES HARD WHEN IT SHIFTS TO ANOTHER GEAR WHEN I PURCHASE THE TRUCK NEW I CONTACT GMC THEY SAID THAT IT WAS DESIGN TO SHIFT LIKE THAT EVERYONE THAT I KNOW HAS A SIERRA 1500 COMPLAINS ABOUT HOW HARD THEIR TRUCK SHIFTS I HAVE RELATIVES AND FRIENDS COMPLAINS ALSO. WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARANTY THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WRONG TRAMSMISSION FLUID WAS PUT IN IT FROM THE FACTORY ? MY TRUCK BRAND NEW.

I was in an accident and was hit in the right front side of my truck. The other vehicle was believed to be going around 50 mph and I had just rolled thru a stop sign. The other vehicle that hit me had the air bags deploy, but my airbags did not deploy. This is very concerning considering there was enough force to significantly bend the frame on my truck. I was transported to the ER and suffered internal organ bruising due to the accident. If the airbags would have deployed, my body could.have not jolted so much causing these injuries.

I tried to buy a car at car dealershipin lafayette oregon ( Pouya Auto sales) gmc sierra 2015 black . on the date 02/09/2023 . They soldme this car with ABS ,cruscontrol, presusre tires ligths on dashbord . the financial bank recomend me to bring the veicule back to the dealership to have them to fixed . . they didnt want to continue with the contract anymore and canseled . now they want to sell the truck to some one else . and is not safe to drive it with this isuuses

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Fully enclosed LED tail light (turn and brake integrated into 1 LED "strip") with no visible moisture ingress/egress system showing retained moisture and no longer functional. Dash light for "rear signal brake light failure" appears. This rear light unit is NOT serviceable or repairable when a light goes out and is fully sealed aside from the reverse light (incandescent bulb and functions fine). LED's should have a lifespan that outlives the vehicle and a major incentive to have LED integration with lighting is the lifespan and reduced need for service. Now the taillight and brake light stop working and can not be fixed without spending <$500 per side. This is a safety issue that seems to be closely related to the issues with the GMC Yukon's of the same generation.

The contact owns a 2009 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin Number - 09184C (Material Over Sensing and Diagnostic Module Retaining Moisture) . The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed as a corroded air bag control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The connectors to the fuel pump have failed causing the truck to mechanically fail and not operate. This is a common problem per the diesel technician who diagnosed our truck and in his opinion should not be happening as often as it does. It’s specifically the cylinder 4 injector control circuit and diagnosis states the pins are corroded.

There is an occasional burning rubber smell(weekly and daily) coming into the cabin of the truck from the Duramax engine/exhaust. The dealer was notified and they informed me from their bulletins on the matter, that they believe it is from a "wax" on the vehicle exhaust system when heated up. They informed me that their is no remedy or fix at this time. The smell and air quality that me and my family are breathing I believe is unhealthy and possibly toxic. I would like the GM to replace these components causing the issue.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that on numerous occasions while driving over a bump or bridge, the vehicle swayed abnormally. The contact was unsure if any warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the entire subframe was rusted and needed to be replaced. My 2016 gmc Sierra transmission going out again first time locked up and researched everyone I know that owns gmc says they have same issue replaced front drive train busted also and noticed the weld on the frame around steering box and frame has one weld pass very thin rusting away already I've done replaced engine front diff fuel pump now airbag warning keeps going off and my radio has security build in it keeps locking up so I think my entire gmc sjo I ld be recalled replaced with a better used one at least gmc make it right allow me a safe auto for what I paid for so please check transmission on all 2016 gmc trucks suv before someone gets killed over malfunction and airbags an on board computer shutting down my email [XXX] I'd be happy to allow gmc builders to take it and learn from defaults in it I know I had service dept Thornhill auto chapmanville wv service a brake recall on it and the web sites continue saying no recall please email any help thank you for everyone's time helping me INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

SERVICE BRAKES
I purchased this vehicle to tow a 7,600 pound RV trailer with Electromagnetic brakes. This truck has an integrated brake controller. The truck keeps giving error messages: Check trailer wiring issues. Brakes not connected, etc. I have troubleshoot the trailer wiring and replaced most of it. I still have the issue. Online I see many people stating similar issues. Supposedly my truck has an error code associated with the brakes but dealer is of not help.
