SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Encountering trailer brake issue where the brakes on our 5th wheel do not activate via the GMC Trailer Brake control module. Have just had it replaced and still experiencing the same issue where it posts an alert on the screen multiple times and does not activate brakes on trailer. This is a widely known issue with GMC trucks and the trailer brake that has been outstanding for over 3 years now and is a safety issue as there doesn't appear to be a fix from any dealerships or GMC. GMC has not taking adequate accountability for this issue. I'm looking at putting together a class action lawsuit with several other customers having the same issue. We are fed up with the inaction and falsely advertised towing package as we are unable to safely tow anything with their trucks.

I was stopped at a light while I was in drive. While I was waiting for the light to change the truck shut off suddenly with no warning. The dash message said to restart truck. I had to put it back in park then hit the push button to restart truck. It started right away. The truck had enough fuel and no reason to shut off on its own. The truck has less than 1,200 miles when this occurred. The truck had a shudder when it downshifted prior to this happening and then shut off about a minute later. Some shuddering seems to be the way the truck downshifts. This is dangerous if you have to just slow down and takeoff again and then it shuts off on it’s own. This can cause a crash.

Extremely poor rear camera quality at night. Common complaint on GMC and Chevy 2023/2024 models. Unsafe to reverse at night due to poor camera image quality. Cadillac has already issued a recall on their units which are identical to the GMC and Chevy. Many posts on Facebook gmc at4 and Chevy zr2 owners groups about the safety issue

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle, after which the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to continue driving to the destination. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the torque converter. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred 2-months later. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000.

POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Drive train:The truck suddenly lurches forward as I'm accelerating and after I've stopped. It's very scary to stop behind a vehicle and suddenly lurch forward. Thankfully, I don't stop too close to another vehicle. The truck also shudders and experiences significant delays in acceleration after coming to a stop and going again. Automatic Emergency Braking: the automatic emergency braking system spontaneously brakes as I'm driving when there is nothing in front of me. Thankfully, nobody has been following behind me when this happens yet. I had to turn the automatic braking system off in order to avoid being hit.

I drove from California to ohio after I bought the truck, I noticed that when stopping to get gas my tailgate was open without me touching it. I drove with cameras showing the truck bed to see what happened and I watched it do it again while driving the vehicle, it just opened on its own while driving. The incident happened again once I was back in ohio when I had my trailor hooked up and it cause the tailgate to collide with the trailor tongue and dented the whole top of the tailgate.3

smoke chrome trim package on the front of the vehicle is peeling and is a manufacturer defect, GM is offering no assistance in remedying this problem and is a known problem by gm with vehicles going back as far as 2017

1 - the failed component is the tailgate. The tailgate lowers automatically without any input from me while the vehicle is in operation. It has happened three times since buying the truck in February 2024. 2 - During the third event, I was backing up my Airstream trailer into its storage building when the tailgate dropped. At that time, I was negotiating a sharp turn in reverse and the tailgate came in contact with my trailer's propane tank housing. Both the tailgate and the propane tank housing were damaged (see photos). 3 - It was not until recently that I learned of a recall for the same condition on other trucks like mine, but for some reason my truck doesn't seem to be included even though it has the same condition as those trucks that are included. The tailgate and my trailer have not yet been inspected by any third parties (manufacturer, police, insurance, etc.), and no repairs have been made yet. 4 - There were no warning signals (either visible or audible) that the tailgate was down while the truck was in operation.

after driving for a few minutes when down shifting vehicle will lock gears making the rear tires slide until a loud pop. May drive fine for a few miles again then reoccurring at any speed dealer said to drive it on SAFETY CONCERN but i did. truck has been at dealer for 2 months now. but am aware of more than mine with the same problem at the same dealership located at laura buick gmc in collinsville illinois

Purchased the tires on 10-25-2021 and with only 16,000 miles on the 4 new tires; we have non-normal cracking on the side of the Thread. These tires are only 3 years old. P275/55r20 We are contacting the tire manufacturer and also the tire service center for help under the 60,000 mile warranty. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3. The tires should not be cracking for any reason and should not be cracking due to dry rot or stress on the tire. Used on a 2018 GMC 1500 Serria.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated intermittently. The contact stated while driving approximately 50-70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact noticed that the vehicle was experiencing reduced power and performance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the NOx sensor was replaced and a manual DPF regeneration was performed. The vehicle was repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact related the failure to GM Campaign Number: N212351211. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under warranty twice. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT. Truck would not start on several occassions. By playing with brake, shift, and steering wheel truck would start again., Also would show warning notices, last one being {engine oil low-add oil}, even right after I just had the oil changed. This last time it would not start I paid to have my mechanic come to me to check it out. He tested a lot and thought it might be the starter so I then had to pay to have it flat-bedded to their garage. What he finally found was a BUNCH of wires worn through in a major wiring harness. It was caused by the wiring harness being next to the steering knuckle and the steering was wearing through the wires exposing bare wires. The mechanic and I see this as a major safety concern and a possible fire hazard. He has told me others have had similer problems . I believe this should definitly be a safety recall for these vehicles. My mechanic states that a new wiring harness olone is about $1500.00 plus a LOT of labor to install it. I do not believe that I should have to pay for a defect in GMC building this truck I have a picture of this mess of wires if you can help me with this. driving 65mph when vehicle attempted to downshift itself for no reason when instead the rear axles locked up and made a massively loud bang as if axle fell off, let off gas, smoke pouring from rear tires, skidded about 8 feet, it released then locked up 2 more times within 30 secs before I could get off road out of traffic flow. mfd has a tsb for this issue(#21-NA-275 GM) not sure if its transmission or braking system Dealer service could not replicate and told me it was probably my trailer(wasnt traveling with trailer) no warnings, no codes occurred initially at 56000 mile, has happened 10 or 12 times since then. very scary, im afraid to drive or tow now that dealer mentioned trailer brakes.

driving 45 mph westbound i70 at eisenhower tunnel, vefhicle made loud bang, brakes locked up momentarily slowing vehicle to around 25mph. multiple vehicles had to make evasive manuevers to avoid collision. vehicle released after a 15FT skid. pulled over to safety and inspect for damage, tires were falt spotted but no damage was visible. called dealer servcei and was told to make appt and set for diagnostic. service could not replicate or find damage so I was sent on my way and told if it does it again let us know. I am scared to drive this vehicle its unsafe

driving approximately 50 mph when vehicle suddenly made loud bang and locked up rear brakes for 25' coming to a stop in road side ditch, numerous vehicles had to make evasive actions to avoid me and other vehicles. flat spotted tire abut no visible physical damage. sat on side of road for transmission temp to cool down then drove to shop without repeat. called dealer was told the earliest appt was a month away. have not been able to repeat incident so far. this has happened a few times and is becoming more frequent, mfg has tsb issued but indicates they cant assist because my warranty has expired so i will have to pay 225 per hour diagnostic fee. this is untenable and dangerous. this needs a recall and repair ASAP.
