Some 2021-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L engine may exhibit an upper engine thump/knock noise coming from the left cylinder head. This condition is most noticeable at idle and may lessen at higher engine speed or while driving. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and will not get worse over time. Use a stethoscope or chassis ears and listen just behind the left cylinder head intake VCT solenoid on the cam cover to determine if the thump/knock noise is coming from the cylinder head/camshaft. The left cylinder head and the camshaft roller followers are available as service parts.

Some 2022-2023 F-150/Bronco/Expedition/Navigator/Escape/Corsair/Bronco Sport/Edge/Mustang vehicles built on 04-Sep-2022 and through 30-Dec-2022 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0230 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). The vehicle may also experience a no start or stall after start. This may be due to an internal PCM issue. If this DTC is present, verify the battery condition, then perform pin point test (PPT) KC of the Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 310-01. If PPT KC leads to component replacement, start with replacing the PCM and then evaluate the vehicle. If the DTC returns, follow WSM, Section 310-01 PPT KC direction to address the issue.

2020-2023 Escape/Explorer, 2021-2023 F-150 and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles equipped with a full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may exhibit a cable connection error screen from the Midtronics xRC-3363 High Voltage Battery Rescue Charger. The xRC-3363 will prompt the Technician to verify the low voltage connections, when no actual fault is present. The technician will need to delete the WiFi connection from the xRC-3365 so it will not automatically reconnect and adjust the date. Next go to Settings>Shop Information>Date/Time Settings and change the date prior to May 1, 2023 and stay off the internet so it will not auto correct itself. Press and hold the power button until the tool turns off. Then turn the xRC-3365 back on and attempt the rescue charge.

2021-2022 F-150 vehicles with 2.7L, 3.3L, 3.5L EcoBoost or 5.0L engines, 2020-2022 Transit vehicles with 3.5L Duratec/3.5L EcoBoost engines, 2021-2023 Bronco with the 2.3L or 2.7L engine having charging system diagnostics performed in the Workshop Manual (WSM) may experience the generator voltage desired (GENVDSD) parameter identification (PID) missing from the powertrain control module (PCM) PID list in the Ford Diagnosis And Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. This may be due to a software parameter in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit various driver assistance system warning messages or inoperative features and/or diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:49 stored in the image processing module A (IPMA) that will not clear and not be stored in the vehicle's history. DTC C1001:31 and/or U3000:89 may be stored in the IPMA, but may have recently been cleared and stored in the vehicle's history. This may be due to a connection issue between the IPMA Camera and the IPMA. To correct the condition, perform the following service procedure to repair the connection and reset the IPMA.

This may be due to an opened diode in the A/C clutch damaging the output driver (FET) in the body control module C (BCMC). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the BCMC and A/C clutch disc and hub assembly.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 and 2022-2023 F-Super Duty/Expedition/Navigator/Maverick vehicles equipped with an integrated trailer module (iTRM) may exhibit a trailer lamp fault message with various related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). Most trailer emulator testers will not draw enough current to correctly diagnose these concerns. They may be used to diagnose basic functionality of the iTRM, however, some trailer emulator testers may cause false trailer lamp fault messages to appear. The customer's trailer should be used for diagnosis instead of a trailer emulator tester. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01 for normal diagnostics.

Some 2022 model year F-150s may exhibit an inoperative headlamp after a Body Control Module (BCM) software update. There may also be BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) B14E5:08 and/or B14E7:08 present. This may be due to a software incompatibility between the headlamp Light Emitting Diode (LED) control module and the BCM. If this condition occurs after a BCM software update, confirm the BCM is at the latest software level and replace the headlamp LED module on the affected headlamp. Follow Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure in Section 417-01.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with light duty electric park brake calipers (minor feature code FAJAK) may exhibit a squeal noise from the rear brakes after sitting for 8 hours or more. To confirm a vehicle is built with minor feature code FAJAK, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number in the upper left-hand corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). To correct this condition, replace rear brake disc (ML1Z-2C026-C) and rear brake pads, caliper pin bolts, and brake pad holding clips (ML3Z-2200-E) on both sides of the vehicle. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 206-04 Rear Disc Brake. For claiming, use causal part number 2552 and applicable labor times from Section 02 of the Service Labor Times Standard Manual. NOTE: Using incorrect service parts on the braking system could impair brake performance.

Some 2021-2023 F-150/Mustang Mach-E/Edge vehicles may exhibit a concern of Android Auto unable to wirelessly connect and/or Android phones rebooting when connected to the vehicle via USB. This is due to a concern with the Google application on the customers device. Google has released a fix for these concerns. For Android phones not connecting wirelessly, request that the customer update their Android Auto version to 6.1 or later. For customers who's Android phone reboots when connected via USB, request that the customer update their Chrome application to 88.0.4324.181 or later. The customers service provider should be able to assist customers having difficulty updating their device. This is not a warrantable repair.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles built on or before 03-Feb-2022 may intermittently exhibit doors unable to lock/unlock and/or difficult to open in freezing temperatures. This may be due to moisture from rain/snow entering the interior door latch lock indicator cable assembly. An updated interior door handle cable and door latch lock indicator cable assembly (front right side-15221A00 / front left side-15221A01; rear right side1640180 / rear left side-1640181) has been released to prevent moisture intrusion. If this condition is experienced, the interior door handle cable and door latch lock indicator cable assembly should only be replaced, not the latch assembly. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 501-14. For claiming, use causal part: 15221A00, 15221A01, 1640180, or 1640181 and applicable labor operations in Section 12 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.

This may be due to a stuck internal component of the variable cam timing (VCT) unit. To correct the condition, replace all 4 of the VCT units following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01. For claiming, use causal part 6C525 and applicable labor operations in Section 6 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If labor times are not available, claim M-time.

For 2000-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, swapping a module from a vehicle for diagnosis purposes is likely to cause errors and is not recommended. It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart if DTCs are present and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. Cycling the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination must be performed along with an adaptive drive cycle before attempting repair.
