While driving the car, it would completly lose power at arounf 45 mile per hour. It seems the transmission does not shift correctly. The automobile is completly unsafe to drive. Dealer says it will take 6 to 12 months to repair unless there is a recall (i have not found a recall yet). Thanks

Traveling on the highway I lost all acceleration, the gas pedal wasn’t functional and the vehicle begins to quickly decelerate, then it corrects itself and accelerates quickly. It has done this a few times already.

Frequent Hard shifting, especially going from 3-4 and 6-7 Frequent Clunking and hard shift from Park to Drive or Park to Reverse While traveling in the interstate at approximately 55-60mph, I had to accelerate hard to merge into traffic. After hitting the gas, the vehicle momentarily lost power, felt like it shifted to neutral as I could not accelerate despite hitting the gas. After a few seconds the transmission shifted back and I could accelerate, but it was as the transmission didn't knt what gear to be in and it continued to shift hard before eventually going back to "normal " Set up appointment with local Ford Dealership. They said that the vehicle didn't throw any codes so there was nothing they could do.

- #11568666January 29, 2024UNKNOWN OR OTHER, VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY
Panoramic moonroof suddenly exploded in a car wash during the high pressure air drying. Thankfully the sunshade was closed and my 3 children sitting in the middle row were not sprayed or hit with the shattered glass, water or air from the car wash and were not seriously injured. Ford clearly knows there is a problem, and I’ve watched numerous news stories about exploding moonroofs and I want to know if NHTSA will re- investigate this known problem and huge safety risk.

We have had continuing issue related to the 10R80 10 Speed transmission that Ford uses in the Expeditions (for us) along as in the F-150's, Explorers, and other vehicles. We had repair under warranty and now the issue is back doing the exact same issues as before. Multiple people that we know with this transmission also have shifting/hard engagement issues, have had work done, then the issues come back.

When driving the vehicle will jerk and lag between gears. At 70 mpg while excelling the car will jerk and some times pop out of gear and slowdown. Sometimes during slow down it does the same.

While I am driving, or stopping to turn or at the red light the engine turned off completely, and a warning signs will display telling me to restart my car again, it is very scary abd dangerous. It happens 3 times so far where I have to turn on my warning flash lights, so cars behind me could pass me or wait until I restart and drive again. It happens with no warning

My check charging system light came on at a drive thru and the truck put itself in park and shut off. I tried to start it back up and wouldn’t start but the starter keep trying which lead to an electrical fire and the only way to get it to stop was to disconnect the battery. I was not even able to get the truck in neutral to push it out of the way. Even following the steps that it says by pressing both the brake and gas pedal and moving the knob. It would just go back in park. I had to have a tow truck to come remove my truck out of the drive thru is was blocking. My concern is that if this happened in a garage while using the remote start, it could’ve completely caught fire had not, I’ve been paying attention.

[XXX] on my way to pick up kids from school in Dallas and take them home. I was driving about 65 mph trying to accelerate to pass an 18 wheeler, to exit. As I press on the gas there was no acceleration. All l hear is motor revving as if I’m in neutral, it feels like it slipped the gears resulting in the inability to speed up. At this point, I’m in front of the 18 wheeler, which is coming up on me while I am unable to accelerate. I have to swerve to avoid him hitting me while nearly hitting the car next to me. Luckily, there wasn’t an accident. It remains this way for about 3 sec & then I take my foot off the gas & try accelerating again & it catches a gear and performs normally. I took it to the dealership & they kept my car for over a month did a complete overhaul on the transmission they said they repaired it & gave my car back. After a few days the same problem occurred. I took my car back & they did a 2nd overhaul on the transmission & gave me my car back. The same day I picked up my car after repairs the same problem happened. I’ve taken my car to a Ford dealership 6 times now for same issue. Currently my car is back at the same dealership & they’re trying to correct the issue. I drive 6 children all under 10 years old home from school every day & I have lost all confidence in my vehicle. I’m terrified when driving on overpasses, merging or trying to switch lanes, I never know when it will happen. As a result of my fear of this happening with the children, I try to avoid driving on highways at all with them, which is very difficult for picking them up. I filed a lemon law claim but don’t qualify. I have written letters to manufacturer, sent videos of dash when transmission failing so they could see the error codes & gauge’s but they can’t seem to fix it. Please help. The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the RPMS increased; however, the vehicle failed to respond and downshifted. The message "Transmission Fault" was displayed. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact stated that after 15 minutes, the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound and shuddered while the transmission shifted into gear. The contact continued driving at low speeds. The dealer was notified of the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was a manufacturer’s defect; however, the vehicle was not covered under warranty due to the mileage. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 65,600.

The transmission jumps when putting it in park or reverse or when driving and switching gears. This is a well known issue with this vehicle. Ford has done nothing to correct it. It’s a safety issue as I went to Pass and my car stalled on the highway and did not switch gears. I do not feel to be responsible for paying for a repair that is happening everywhere.

When you rapidly accelerate the power train slips into neutral and you lose power and the engine revs. Let off accelerator and it reengages. The first time I got a warning “wrench” and error message in the Ford Pass app.The next several times no “wrench” or error message. Ford knows the problem exist. They have TSB 23-2249 out that list all covered year and models that the problem can exist on as well as repair instructions. This problem is a safety hazard if you are attempting to enter onto the interstate and you lose power.

I purchased this vehicle used, I started having transmission issues here and there and now it's more frequent. I travel from Houston tx to Katy Texas weekly and travel on I-10, the most dangerous road in Houston with my 9 year old daughter and 2 year old son. There have been several times where I was almost rear ended because the vehicle shifted gears and when I would push the accelerator the vehicle would do nothing and just glided. Yesterday traveling to Katy, it happened again but only this time the vehicle didn't shift back into gear for a longer period of time and again almost causing us to get rear ended. I have taken my vehicle to Ford only to tell me that they test drive it and nothing happened so they were not able to fix anything. I have read several complaints about this issue with the 10 speed transmission but nothing is being done about it. This is supposed to be a safe family vehicle on the road but instead it's a DEATH trap waiting to happen. Please, please, please look into Ford being held responsible for this issue that should be fixed. Thank you for your help.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the vehicle shuddered with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while the vehicle was idling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where diagnostic codes: P0011, P0012 and P0016 were retrieved. The dealer determined that the crankshaft chain was stretched and needed to be replaced in bank #1 and bank #2, along with the pretensioners and phasers. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 98,800.
