SummarySome 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with 1.5L EcoBoost engines may experience an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P3402. This may be due to the cylinder 1 deactivation solenoid. To correct this condition, replace the cylinder deactivation solenoid with service part number H6BZ-6H082-A. DTC P0299 may also be present. Diagnose P3402 first, then determine if DTC P0299 returns and follow normal Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures as necessary.

SummarySome 2021-2022 Bronco Sports may exhibit a no key detected message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Reference the Owners Manual 2nd printing on page 150, and advise the customer to put the key in the middle of the tray at the forward position of the center console (back up location). This spot will allow interference free communication between the key and the vehicle's radio transceiver module (RTM) due to closer proximity of the two components. This is necessary as a result of the passive key frequencies becoming jammed or a low key battery.

SummarySome 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may experience a lack of power, excessive spark knock and an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and/or a powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P130D stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This concern typically occurs under moderate to high load conditions at highway speeds. This may be due to a loose ground at G109 or G107. To correct this condition, inspect G109 for the ground eyelet being installed upside down/loose/corrosion and G107 ignition coil ground. The eyelet on G109 has a tab that should be facing down to stop rotation during tightening.
