  This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician of a customer concern where the heated seat indicator light is not functioning or the heated seats are not up to operating temperature during a remote vehicle start event. This is normal operation of the heated seat during a remote vehicle start event. The electronic climate control module is not in a complete wake up state during a remote vehicle start mode and will not enable the light emitting diode. After a cold soak below 32 degrees Fahrenheit the seat will not get hot in the 10 minutes or less of the remote vehicle start mode. This is due to the fact that the heat element is not in direct contract with the seat surface while the seat is unoccupied and the foam below the heater is full cold insulating air which takes time to heat up. Technician is to communicate to the customer this condition is a normal operating characteristic of their vehicle. It will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle. Please share this information with the customer, including a copy of this message.

  Summary

  This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician with information regarding high misfire rates always on #1 cylinder. A customer may complain of misfires or roughness on cold start up with a P0300 diagnostic trouble code. Technician is to add coolant dye to the system and run the engine through warm up to circulate the dye. Pressurize the cooling system after a cold soak and inspect the cylinder with a bore scope for coolant dye. Dye is used to identify coolant over residual fuel being that might be left in the cylinder. The technician is not to replace the cylinder head as it will not correct this concern. In some cases it is necessary to remove the head for inspection. Do not replace the engine for small surface pock marks or a pitting appearance this is normal and do not connect to coolant passages. Usually if porosity is present there will be a break in the carbon ring. Only replace the engine if true porosity is found. Technician is to call Product Quality Center with the latest version of bulletin 02-07-30-029 if porosity is found and engine replacement is required.

  This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician to follow this Preliminary Information if there is a diagnostic trouble code P00C6 and or P228C set and normal Service Information diagnostics didn?t lead to a repair. Technician is to recheck the terminals at the Engine Control module for fit and tension as well as the crimp to the wire. The engine control module terminals to inspect are in the X2 connector. Inspect terminal number 3, 18 and 19 for the fuel rail pressure sensor and in the X3 connector terminals 16 and 32 for the high pressure fuel pump. The diagnostic trouble codes could set with as little as a 2 ohm resistance reading on these circuits. If any concerns are found replace the affected terminals and verify the repair.

  15344 - SERVICE UPDATE. THE PURPOSE OF THIS SERVICE UPDATE IS TO PROVIDE THE CUSTOMER WITH A GOODWILL GIFT TO OFFSET OWNER INCONVENIENCE, RESTORE CONFIDENCE, AND MAINTAIN LOYALTY TO GM. THE VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THIS SERVICE UPDATE WERE ORIGINALLY INVOLVED IN RECALL 14471. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS REPROGRAMMED FOR RECALL 14471, THE VEHICLES RECEIVED AN INCORRECT CALIBRATION. THE VEHICLES WERE RECALLED AGAIN UNDER RECALL 15100. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AFTER LAUNCHING RECALL 15100, THE SOFTWARE FILES WERE ERRONEOUSLY CHANGED FROM THE REVISED SOFTWARE TO THE ORIGINAL INCORRECT SOFTWARE VERSION. VEHICLES THAT WERE SERVICED BETWEEN FEBRUARY 8, 2015, AND MARCH 10, 2015, RECEIVED THE ORIGINAL INCORRECT SOFTWARE. THESE CUSTOMERS ARE NOW BEING ASKED TO BRING THEIR VEHICLE BACK FOR THE CORRECT CALIBRATION UNDER RECALL 15259. FOR THEIR INCONVENIENCE, DEALERS ARE TO OFFER THE CUSTOMER A SELECTION OF ONE OF THE AVAILABLE GOODWILL OPTIONS LISTED IN THIS BULLETIN. BECAUSE EACH CUSTOMER HAS UNIQUE PREFERENCES, PLEASE OFFER BOTH OF THE OPTIONS FOUND IN THIS BULLETIN TO THE CUSTOMER AND ALLOW THEM TO SELECT THE ONE THAT BEST SUITS THEIR SITUATION.
