- #11657849April 30, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
On [XXX], the vehicles safety systems (emergency braking, cross traffic warning, forward collision warning) failed to function allowing the vehicle to hit a cross traffic vehicle in a parking lot. The safety system failed again after the first collision allowing the vehicle to continue driving forward to hit a second parked vehicle. Details of the incident is available by Geico claim [XXX]. The safety systems failed to mitigate a human error as they were designed to do. The consequence would have been more devastating had a person instead of a vehicle crossed in front. Geico inspected the vehicle and deemed it a total loss. I have requested Audi of America to inspect the vehicle and conduct an investigation to identify and correct the defect. They have refused to do so. No warning or symptom of any kind appeared before the failure. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11631721December 20, 2024UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Purchased new 2022 Audi e-tron GT RS vehicle from Audi on September 30, 2022. The car was shipped directly to arrived at home on October 12, 2022. always had his vehicle serviced at Audi. Almost immediately after purchase, began to have issues with the vehicle. At 237 miles the vehicle began to independently and randomly shut off or shift into neutral. The issue was fixed after installing the first of many recall updates. Since then at least 6 recalls have been issued for the vehicle, each necessitating another visit to the dealership for repairs. Additionally, in January of 2024 its interior heating system began to malfunction. The vehicle remained in the shop for 10 days while this problem was remedied. Most recently, on December 11, 2024, the vehicle became inoperative and was towed to the shop once again. The dashboard displays a warning that reads “Electrical system: malfunction! Safely stop vehicle.” recently told that the vehicle could remain at the shop for multiple months and that a battery cell needs to be replaced but the dealership cannot confirm the repair will remedy the problem(s) or if additional problems exist. The value of vehicle has been substantially impaired by all of the malfunctions it has experienced and continues to experience. Audi has failed to correct all outstanding problems.

- #11620604October 18, 2024VISIBILITY/WIPER, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
If the vehicle is left outside in the sun, the backup camera and/or side cameras stop working. It happens very often, but it’s unpredictable. Because if very bad read visibility, reversing in this car is impossible without the backup camera.

- #11609580August 20, 2024SUSPENSION
I had owned my car as the first owner. Within the first year of ownership, I experienced my first suspension failure. It happened when I drove my car during an off day to run some errands, driving locally at daytime with normal speeds. Mind you, here in New York, there’s a lot of street cameras. There aren’t many opportunities to go fast. During normal driving one day, I noticed a loud thump noise, but the car did not go over any potholes or hit anything of the sort which led me to be confused. So I pulled over to a nearby parking lot to see what was going on. I later then saw some error messages about the air suspension. I got out of the car to see that my car was abnormally low to the ground. I also tried to raise the air suspension through the settings, but it wouldn’t work at the moment. I then called Audi to tow the car to the service center located at Audi Queens. They investigated on the matter, said that the front struts were blown out and had to be replaced. They refused to believe that this was anything related to a malfunction and insisted that I hit something. Unfortunately I didn’t have a dash cam, otherwise I would’ve solidified my case. Long story short, I later found out that the 2022 models have had a known issue with the front struts. I’m so lucky that when the time this happened, that nobody or myself got hurt. But this has got to be one of the most frightening thing, to think a car would fail on you suddenly like this!

- #11601479July 12, 2024SERVICE BRAKES
I have had multiple instances of brake failure while driving this car and it is to a point where I've been directed by my attorney to not drive the vehicle anymore. First instance of possible serious injury or death occurred on 1/15/2024: I brought the vehicle in to Audi of Iowa City because the brakes did not feel reliable. Several days before I brought the vehicle in, I was going 35 MPH and had the pedal all the way to the floor before it would stop. The ABS kicked on to stop the vehicle. This happened on dry pavement. There was no snow, ice, gravel, or other issues with the surface which would cause the car to not stop. Second instance of possible serious injury or death occurred on 2/14/2024: I had the vehicle towed to Audi of Iowa City after experiencing the exact same brake failure issue that day after driving the vehicle less than 100 miles after it was returned to me. Third instance of possible serious injury or death occurred on 5/10/2024: I brought the vehicle in to Audi of Iowa City again after the vehicle failed to stop in a safe manner earlier that day. I was going 30 MPH and the brake pedal went to the floor. I got no response out of the brake pedal. Pre-collision braking stopped the car but there was no resistance in the pedal before that. I have requested Audi replace or repurchase the vehicle three times, each time Audi has declined the buyback and claim the vehicle is safe. There is currently an open, unresolved recall on the brakes for this vehicle AND there is a current national stop sale on all e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan models.

CAR FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. Came to a stop light. Waited for light to change. Then when I pushed the accelerator nothing happened. No movement. Had to turn on emergency flashers, power down the car completely and restart it to move. Then functioned normally. Happened four times total. Car has already been at the dealer once and had some replacement parts done to fix the issue - but now it has occurred again and they are not sure why.
