Kia has announced updates for its 2027 Niro hybrid crossover, which is expected to go on sale this summer. The refreshed model features revised exterior styling, an upgraded interior with new display technology, and an expanded suite of driver assistance systems. The 2027 Kia Niro hybrid continues to focus on its hybrid powertrain and practical design.

Design Updates and Interior Enhancements

The 2027 Niro features a refreshed exterior, incorporating Kia’s design language. The front fascia has been redesigned, integrating Star Map lighting elements and daytime running light graphics that emphasize horizontal and vertical lines, contributing to a wider visual stance. The bumper and front grille treatments have also been revised for a more refined appearance.

At the rear, a new liftgate includes redesigned 3D-style taillamps, and a smoother rear bumper creates a more cohesive look. Wheel arch cladding highlights the crossover’s utility, while body-colored C-pillars and a flowing roofline contribute to a modern profile. New exterior paint options include Ivory Silver and Sunset Beige.

Inside, the cabin has been updated with a new panoramic curved display. This setup pairs a standard 12.3-inch infotainment screen with an available 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, though a 4-inch digital cluster remains standard. A new two-tone steering wheel is also introduced, aiming to provide a more open and spacious feel within the cabin.

Expanded Technology and Connectivity

The refreshed Niro benefits from a range of connected technologies. The available Kia Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) offers enhanced connectivity, including Quick Controls and over-the-air update capabilities. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard across all trim levels.

For entertainment, available Entertainment and Data Services provide access to streaming platforms such as Disney+, Netflix, and YouTube on certain trims. Personalization options include display themes featuring iconic brands, with additional NBA team themes available through the Kia Connect Store. The available Kia AI Assistant allows drivers to control vehicle functions like climate settings and audio using voice commands, activated by saying, “Hey, Kia…”

Powertrain and Driver Assistance Systems

The 2027 Kia Niro hybrid maintains its focus on hybrid power, combining a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce a combined 139 horsepower. This power is delivered through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Kia engineers have refined the suspension tuning, ride comfort, and cabin quietness to enhance the overall driving experience.

The 2027 Niro also expands its suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Standard features include an enhanced Forward Collision Avoidance system with Junction Turning, Cyclist, and Direct Oncoming functions. Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance, and Smart Cruise Control 2 are also standard. Lane Following Assist 2, which helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane, has been improved with a Hands-on-Detection (HOD) sensor to monitor driver engagement.

For the SX Touring trim, newly available features include a 360-degree Surround View Monitor and a Blind-Spot View Monitor, which displays a live video feed of adjacent blind-spot areas within the digital instrument cluster when a turn signal is activated. Highway Drive Assist 2 is also newly available, assisting with speed, distance, and lane-centering during highway driving.

With these updates, the 2027 Kia Niro hybrid aims to offer a more modern and connected driving experience, building on its established blend of efficiency and practicality. The lineup now includes a new S trim, alongside the LX, EX, and SX models, with pricing details to be announced closer to its summer on-sale date.
