The 2027 Honda Civic Sedan and Hatchback are now reaching dealerships nationwide. This updated lineup introduces the new Sport-L trim, which integrates premium features previously reserved for higher-end hybrid models. Additionally, the Civic Sport Touring Hybrid gains the Honda S+ Shift drive mode, a technology first seen on the 2026 Honda Prelude, designed to enhance the driving experience.

New Features and Trims

The new Sport-L trim slots between the Civic Sport and Sport Hybrid models, offering a blend of sportiness and enhanced comfort. Key additions for the 2027 Honda Civic Sport-L include leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. Other interior upgrades consist of a passenger-side seatback pocket, illuminated vanity mirrors, and silver-colored interior trim. The Sport-L is powered by a 2.0-liter engine.

For the Sport Touring Hybrid, Honda has incorporated the S+ Shift drive mode. This feature simulates a performance transmission with virtual rev-matched downshifts and gear holding. It also enhances engine sounds, aiming to provide a more engaging and connected driving experience for hybrid owners.

Pricing and Availability

The 2027 Honda Civic lineup offers various configurations, with the LX Sedan starting at an MSRP of $24,995. The new 2027 Honda Civic Sport-L Sedan begins at $28,495, while the Sport Hybrid Sedan starts at $29,695. For hatchback variants, the Sport-L starts at $29,695, and the Sport Hybrid Hatchback begins at $30,895. All prices exclude a $1,295 destination and handling charge. The new Sport-L trim is expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of the year.

All 2027 Civic models come standard with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. This includes features such as the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist System. Blind spot information with Rear Cross Traffic Alert is standard on all Sport models.

Market Position and Manufacturing

The Honda Civic continues to serve as a significant entry point to the Honda brand, with its average new-vehicle transaction price remaining below the industry's average used-vehicle transaction price. Hybrid variants now constitute over 30% of total Civic sales, highlighting their growing popularity. The Civic is noted as a popular choice among Gen Z, first-time buyers, and multicultural customers in the US.

Production of the Civic Hatchback takes place at Honda's plant in Greensburg, Indiana, utilizing both domestic and globally sourced parts. The Civic Sedan is manufactured at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. The two-motor hybrid-electric power unit for hybrid models is produced at the Honda Ohio Transmission Plant, while the 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine is made at the Honda Anna Engine Plant.

With the introduction of the 2027 Honda Civic Sport-L trim and the S+ Shift drive mode, the 2027 Honda Civic aims to broaden its appeal by offering more premium features and an enhanced driving experience across its sedan and hatchback configurations. These updates reinforce the Civic's competitive standing in the compact car segment, providing various options for buyers seeking value, efficiency, and engagement.
