Acura's electrified ARX-06 prototype race cars are preparing for the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks, part of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. The event, scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2026, will revert to its original two-hour and 40-minute race length after two years as a six-hour endurance challenge. This marks a significant return to a shorter, more intense format for the teams.

Race Format and History at IMS

The TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks first took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in 2023, initially as a two-hour and 40-minute event. For the subsequent two years, the race expanded to a six-hour endurance format, testing teams and drivers over a longer duration.

For the 2026 edition, the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship will once again feature the two-hour and 40-minute race length. This change brings the event back to its inaugural format, potentially altering race strategies for the competing teams.

Since IMSA's return to Indianapolis, Acura has secured one podium finish with its ARX-06 machines. This occurred last year when drivers Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun achieved a third-place finish in their #60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing car.

Acura Team Performance and Outlook

The #60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing team, with drivers Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun, is actively seeking its first podium finish of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. Their previous best results this year include two fourth-place finishes at Sebring and Laguna Seca. The team aims to build on their past success at Indianapolis.

Piloting the #93 Acura ARX-06 are Nick Yelloly and Renger van der Zande. This duo has already claimed a victory this season, winning the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Yelloly has a strong record at Indianapolis, having finished third in 2023 and second in 2024.

The #93 team currently holds second place in the overall team championship standings. With only two races remaining in the season, their performance at the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks will be crucial for their championship aspirations. The Acura ARX-06 IMSA Indianapolis race is a key event for both teams.
