Honda HRC Progressive riders Hunter and Jett Lawrence achieved a dominant 1-2 overall finish in the 450 class at the Washougal MX National. This marked Hunter Lawrence's fifth overall victory of the season, further extending his championship lead. In the 250 class, teammate Chance Hymas secured his second consecutive overall podium finish, placing third.
450 Class Dominance
The Washougal MX National saw a strong performance from the Lawrence brothers. In the opening 450 moto, Jett Lawrence took an early lead, with Hunter Lawrence quickly moving into second position. The Honda HRC Progressive riders maintained these positions, with Jett earning his seventh moto win of the season and Hunter finishing second.
The second moto began with Jett Lawrence again securing the holeshot on his CRF450RWE. Hunter Lawrence, however, took the lead on the first lap. Jett experienced a brief off-track excursion, resulting in a one-position penalty, and later had a minor crash. Despite these incidents, he mounted a late charge, closing the gap to his brother before finishing just 1.7 seconds behind. Hunter Lawrence's 2-1 moto scores secured his fifth overall win, pushing his championship lead over Jett Lawrence to 12 points.
250 Class Podium for Hymas
Chance Hymas continued his positive momentum in the 250 class, earning his second consecutive overall podium finish. In moto 1, Hymas navigated the opening turns to advance from outside the top five to fourth, eventually securing third place. He started moto 2 inside the top three and battled near the front, briefly holding second position before finishing third.
Hymas's consistent 3-3 moto scores at Washougal marked his first dual-moto-podium weekend of the season. This performance moved him up two spots in the 250 class standings, placing him fifth overall.
Championship Outlook and Next Steps
Following the Washougal MX National, the AMA Pro Motocross series will enter its second and final two-week break of the summer. Hunter Lawrence now holds a 12-point advantage over Jett Lawrence in the 450 class championship, with 367 points to Jett's 355. Jett Lawrence's lead over the third-place rider has increased to 57 points. In the 250 class, Chance Hymas now sits in fifth place with 230 points.
The series will resume with Round 9 at Unadilla MX in New York. Honda HRC Progressive riders participated in press day activities and fan autograph sessions throughout the Washougal event. A Honda dealership, Motosport Hillsboro, also engaged with fans at the team pits, showcasing a 2026 CRF450R and CRF125F. Special graphics featuring a TrueTimber Atera Camo pattern were used on the race bikes for the Military Appreciation round. The overall Honda HRC Washougal results were impressive.
The strong results at Washougal underscore Honda HRC Progressive's competitive position as the AMA Pro Motocross season approaches its final rounds. The team's consistent performance in both the 450 and 250 classes sets the stage for an intense conclusion to the championship.
