Acura has unveiled an ambitious product roadmap for North America, detailing plans to introduce three new SUV models by 2028. This strategic expansion aims to broaden the brand's presence in key market segments and attract new buyers, building on its current sales momentum. The upcoming vehicles include an adventure-focused SUV, a hybrid variant of the RDX, and a larger 8-passenger model.

Expanding the SUV Lineup

The first new model, an adventure-ready Acura SUV, is scheduled to arrive in early 2028. This vehicle is designed to provide the necessary capabilities for outdoor pursuits, combining modern and premium styling with the comfort and technology expected from the Acura brand. It represents an entry into a segment where Acura currently does not compete.

Following this, the all-new fourth-generation Acura RDX will launch in 2028. This iteration of the RDX will mark a significant milestone as the first Acura model to incorporate the company's two-motor hybrid-electric technology, emphasizing a move towards electrified powertrains.

Additionally, Acura is developing an 8-passenger SUV, which will be the largest vehicle in its history. This model is intended to cater to the growing demand for family-friendly premium vehicles and will be positioned above the existing 7-passenger MDX, further diversifying Acura's SUV offerings as part of the brand's focus on Acura new SUVs 2028.

New Powertrain Technology and Current Model Updates

Beyond the new SUV introductions, Acura is investing in advanced powertrain development. A new V6 hybrid powertrain is currently in development for Acura's D-Segment models. This powertrain is engineered to deliver enhanced sporty performance, improved towing capabilities, and greater environmental efficiencies, aligning with contemporary market demands for both power and sustainability.

The brand's existing lineup, which includes the ADX, MDX, and Integra, is also slated for updates. All three models will receive meaningful enhancements for the 2027 model year. These planned improvements are aimed at increasing their customer value and maintaining their competitive edge within their respective segments.

Market Performance and Strategic Direction

Acura has demonstrated strong market performance, outpacing the luxury industry through the first nine months of 2026 with a 4.4% year-over-year sales increase. This growth positions Acura ahead of several established luxury competitors. The Acura MDX, recognized as a top-selling three-row luxury SUV, has experienced impressive sales growth exceeding 25%.

Furthermore, Acura's gateway models, the ADX and Integra, are reported to be leading their segments in retail sales. Eiji Fujimura, President & CEO of American Honda, highlighted the company's focus on delivering products and services that meet customer needs across all life stages, aiming to establish a sustainable long-term direction for the brand. This strategy includes increasing speed to market to ensure products remain competitive, especially with the introduction of Acura new SUVs 2028.

This comprehensive product roadmap highlights Acura's strategic intent to significantly expand its market presence and cater to a broader customer base in North America. By introducing new SUV segments and integrating advanced hybrid technologies, Acura aims to strengthen its competitive standing and adapt to evolving consumer preferences in the premium automotive sector.
