I went to get my Tacoma inspected and it failed so to rust and corrosion of the frame. I was unaware that the frame recall was time sensitive and now my truck is in safe to drive because of the bad frame.

We bought the truck used in 2021 when it had 114,000 mi. Looked great, drives great. Now our mechanic tells us there are rust spots all over the frame — and that there is a recall. I looked into the recall and the window closed last year. Is it legal for Toyota to stop a recall when it is such a big safety issue? Buyers of used cars need to know about this site to check for recalls. I think very few people know about this app.

The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and making a right turn, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) main fuse had blown due to a short circuit. The dealer replaced the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) main fuse; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the subframe was severely corroded, including transmission components and fuel system components. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as unknown recalls had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The subject vehicle left roadway and impacted a tree in a pure frontal impact. The front seat passenger airbag failed to deploy. An 11 year old child was seated and properly belted in the front passenger seat. The child was killed as a result of blunt force trauma to his head when his head struck the front dash structure. In addition, the belted occupant seated behind the front passenger seat, while properly belted, impacted the rear of the front passenger seat and the seat deformed forward, limiting the ride down space for the front passenger seat occupant. The other three occupants in the subject Toyota Tacoma suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Recent in December wife said there’s a musty odor in truck. While vacuuming carpet on Friday 1/6/23 water came to surface. Searched everywhere for leak and found the 2 vents behind back seats had bad gaskets and leaking bad. After getting access under carpet, passenger side was dry but growing mold and drivers side is holding slimy water. The back seats are a little higher and we’re dry but signs of mold as well. These vents pop out through the cab outward but the bed has to be removed to replace them. I used silicone to seal from inside to stop water intrusion. Dealership no help, report and claim filed with Toyota corporate, insurance company and waiting for response. During the holidays, wife road in my truck several times and ended up spending a week in the hospital due to a fungal infection in her lungs and may be linked to the mold. While on a chat group, Tacoma Owners Group and Tacoma World, there are numerous other owners with the same issue and no help from Toyota.

- Engine throttle went into wide open throttle causing the Unintended acceleration in traffic - The truck was doing about 45mph the passing gear came on and a second I was doing 60mph I quickly applied full pressure on the brakes and the car did not slow down at all, the truck failed to STOP or slow down and was getting closer to the vehicle in front, it was in the Expressway. My only thought was too press the ON OFF button and instantly shut down the passing gear and slowed down. _ The vehicle was dropped of at the dealer for 2-weeks and was inspected no problem found. - There were no warning lamps messages on the screen or voice message at all. I am afraid to drive this vehicle it became a runaway wild horse. If I didn`t react in milliseconds i would of hit the car in front at a high rate of speed causing damage to everyone. I took pictures after right after having full control of the truck. All the record of my complaints of the Tacomas drive train started more than 1 1/2 years ago the records are the facts of Toyotas negligence. I have total fear and don`t trust this truck with my life. Please check the recorded dealer is Doral Toyota and you can speak with the Service manager [XXX]. My 2022 Tacoma has 1200 miles on it. While turning a corner I slowed down to make the turn when I pushed on the pedal to speed back up there was no response from the engine. It was dark outside and my dash lit up like the key was turned off. I kind of panicked and began pumping the pedal thinking I was out of gas. The fuel gage showed 3/4 an after 3 or 4 seconds it started back up. A week or so before I was at a red light when it turned green I tried to accelerate, the engine hesitated again like it was out of gas. I pumped the pedal but no response. After a few seconds it took off like a jet across the intersection and my foot was barely touching the pedal. Also while driving around 40-50 mph it feels like a stick shift vehicle that needs to be down shifted in a lower gear as there is a chunging feel which I think the transmission can't decide what gear to use. At those speeds it goes away if I manually move the shifter out of D into 4 or 5. Then It runs smooth. I took it to a Toyota Dealer near my house on 1/3/2023 They said they could not duplicate the problem. I said it does not happen all the time. The tech said he reset my computer.

Tire size 265/65/R17 In 8000 miles on a 2022 Toyota Tacoma, purchased new in August 2022, I have had two Nitto Ridge Grappler sidewall failures. Each has happened at highway speeds (55-60 mph) with adequate pressure (35 PSI). No objects or road hazards were encountered. Each tire displayed significant sidewall damage resulting in rapid loss of pressure (blowout). The passenger side front and driver side rear have both experienced the failure. This is a safety concern as a rapid decrease in pressure creates unstable driving conditions. So far, I have received no response from Nitto or Toyota regarding the failures. Instead, I am now required to purchase two new tires. I am concerned the other two will eventually fail on the sidewalls as well.

Vehicle was brought to dealer to replace ROTTED transmission cooler lines. During inspection it was noticed that the vehicles rack & pinion steering tube is almost completely ROTTED through as well, this is a complicated and expensive repair, which if it completely fails will render the vehicle unsafe for the road, a danger to myself and others on the road. The vehicle has only 127,000 miles. I was also informed that the vehicle no longer qualifies for frame replacement under recall ' because I waited too long '

I have experienced short periods with my Tacoma accelerating when my foot wasn't on the gas pedal. The floor mat was pinned down correctly and not in the way. I was turning left and my truck started to speed up like the gas was being pressed. I had to hit the brakes as a red light was coming and vehicles were stopped at the Red light. I have also had another issue with the truck not responding when the pedal was pressed all the way down and the truck wouldn't speed up at all for a few seconds.

My truck lost drivability while I was going 60 I ran into a ditch to stop. It hads two codes . I took it in they replaced my rack n pinion. Check engine light came on . Mechanic said he could not work on it anymore because of the rust. To much corrosion he would be risking liability for other parts getting damaged because of all the rust. Took it to mike Shaw to have frame tested. It passed they said. But I can’t find a mechanic to work on it but mike Shaw and they’ll just keep charging for each item they don’t care.

The mechanical design of Toyota's plastic visor assemblies that are installed in my Tacoma truck is disgustingly worthless and every last one of them will ultimately fail unless they are left securely fastened in the end visor holding clamp, permanently, and at all times while driving. That means not rotating them to shade a glaring sun through a door window glass. Toyota needs to redesign and replace all of their defective visor assemblies. The problem is with the rod holding design on the back side of the visor mounting plate. It is supposed to securely hold the plastic rotating arm from falling out of the mounting plate. It is wholly inadequate and will not safely support even the meager weight of the visor leaf itself. The only safe option is to leave the visor arm snapped into the end stabilizing/holding clamp. Mine dropped out of the mounting plate, twisting and dangling from the power cord wiring at a vulnerable time in moving traffic. It not only restricted my view, I was struggling to grasp the swinging visor to remove it from obstructing my view. All the while, steering with my other hand and merging into freeway speed traffic. It was a very serious problem at an inopportune and critical time. Since I was merging into freeway lanes from an on-ramp, there was no exit opportunity and stopping was not an option; all I could do was fight to avoid colliding with other vehicles. The hazard was compounded by a glaring sun that I was trying to mitigate by using the visor to shield the bright glare coming through the driver's door window. I was left purely with luck and good fortune; no guarantees at all. Compounding the problem was that it occurred during semi-rush hour traffic. It had significant potential of becoming a very serious life-threatening accident. I took the truck to my dealership for repairs but the only option was to purchase a duplicate assembly in excess of $400 U.S. Dollars, installed. Toyota needs to do the right thing and warranty all of them.

This vehicle is equipped with Toyota V6 Motor that was new in 2016. The issue is the Timing Chain Cover leaks oil. This was an issue on Toyota Motors before 2016 and Toyota issued a TSB for those. However Toyota has refused to acknowledge this ongoing issue in its post 2016 Motors. This is a very well know issue by Toyota.

When filling truck at any gas pump or station the pump will not shut off before shoots out from filling port. Gasoline will shoot onto my hand and clothing if at full flow at pump. I have adapted to slow pump to trickle at 11-12 gallons or near full. It will still eject gasoline but less amount and less velocity. Has been evaluated at dealer but they noted two other Tacomas do same so noted not a problem. This is my first vehicle that has ever done this. If I was a smoker this would be huge fire risk if gasoline gets on my clothing. This is not normal.
