Over the past several months, I have encountered the Vehicle Stability Control system engaging approximately 6 times when cornering and braking on dry pavement. It is a startling event that I feel causes a hazard. If I encountered a problem while this was happening, I am not sure I could control the vehicle. I have taken the truck to the dealer three times. The first time they turned the rear drums, stating that was the cause of the vibration I reported. After it happened again and took it back a few weeks later, they replaced the rear brakes and both axles. When it happened again, I was able to record the event and noticed the VSC system light flash on the dashboard when it occurred. The dealer then reported that this was a normal characteristic of the vehicle. Additionally, the dealer installed a 2 inch lift on the truck prior to the sale. I have researched Tacoma forums and found others reporting similar incidents. The solutions including resetting the VSC system to calibrate for the lift, replacing the speed sensors, or replacing the wiring to the speed sensors. Some noted that if the wiring was not disconnected when the lift was installed but instead stretched, that could damage the wires. I asked the dealer to investigate and they declined. I then contacted Toyota headquarters, and they also declined.

Sudden and total loss of power steering while backing up to park. There were/are no warning lights or messages displayed on the dashboard. With great difficulty, I was able to drive the car to my local mechanic. Steering was extremely difficult. The power steering unit has been ordered by my mechanic.

ODI #11516361 I bought this 2009 Toyota Tacoma with 20,990 miles on it on 11/22/2019. Then the pandemic hit the USA and the truck sat for many months. Then in April 2023 I brought the truck in for repairs and the mechanic told me the frame was rusted real bad and that the recall was past the deadline. I brought it to Toyota of Watertown Dealership on 4/07/2023 with 33,348 miles on it and they said there was nothing they could do because the truck was over the 12 years of manufacturing recall date. My truck was manufactured on 8/20/2009, so my recall ended on 8/20/2021. I owned the truck for 19 months during the recall and I never received a recall notice from Toyota. If I had known I would have had it inspected before the 12 years were up and Toyota would have been responsible for the rusted out frame. Toyota is negligent and liable for not informing me of the recall. Now I am stuck with a rusted out dangerous vehicle.

I went to get my 02 tacoma tires balanced and was called and told that where the frame was cracked. Upon inspecting it myself the crack is where the manufacturer welded the frame together. I'm the 3rd owner of this vehicle and there original owner didn't get frame warranty recall done. Which led to it running out. Now Toyota corporate has a frame case number ([XXX]) and was told that there's nothing that could be done until enough complaints about this case number reaches a certain number then they'll look into it. Experience steering wheel vibrations between speeds of 60 mph and 80 mph - have taken vehicle to dealership and they have confirmed problem but said it was a characteristic condition of the suspension on vehicle. It is highly distracting when operating a motor vehicle at freeway speeds and with out warning the steering wheel starts shaking back and forth. Dealership has rebalanced and rotated tires 5 times and performed vehicle alignment - recently they changed the tire and loading information decal which changed the air pressure from 36psi down to 29 psi (did not tell me about that) vehicle rides better but steering wheel vibration still happens unannounced at speeds between 60 mph & 80 mph.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure, but the contact was informed there was a code for a caliper malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. Purchased 4 new Firestone Destination LE3 P245/75/R16 tires. I immediately noticed my truck vibrating a lot. The higher rhe speed , the bigger vibration. I took it back twice. The service tech. Indicated that he balanced them, so i took them to another service station. Two front tires wrre determined to be egg-shaped and could not be balanced. They were also noticably a different color than the back two tires as well. I am taking them back to the original seller and having them replaced under the warranty.

We bought the truck used from a dealer about 10 -12 years ago. We've always taken good care of it, and kept it in a garage. It always passed inspection with no problems, and there is nothing wrong with the truck, except at the last inspection about 2 weeks ago the mechanic said the frame has completed rusted through and the truck is not safe to drive. We can't get it fixed. I called Toyota and they said since it was no longer under warranty, too bad. They did "open a case" for us and I'm supposed to hear back from them next week, but I don't have much hope that they will do anything. The truck only has about 90,000 miles on it, despite being 20 years old. It is in good shape in every other way.

White paint is peeling off in multiple places on the body of the vehicle. There is a change.org petition with 5,000+ signatures, yet Toyota has refused to do anything about the issue. https://www.change.org/p/toyota-motor-company-hold-toyota-accountable-for-2008-2022-tacoma-super-white-peeling-paint

I purchased this Toyota 3 years ago in Rochester NY, an incredibly snowy city that uses a lot of salt in the winter. I was living in Texas when I got informed about a recall about frame damage due to rust and corrosion. When I tried to get this taken care of I was told the dealership couldn’t do anything about it because it’s not in a cold climate state anymore. The frame is very rusted and seems to be very dangerous to drive. I find the lack of professionalism and disregard for my safety highly disturbing. Please let me know if there’s anything you can do to help get this resolved.

Passenger Side windshield wiper fluid sprayer. It sprays the top of the vehicle hood during operation preventing fluid from the sprayer reaching the windshield. Prevents potential debris from being cleared off the windshield whether dirt, mud, and bugs or Ice and snow in the winter. The dealer confirmed that 2/3 2023 Toyota Tacoma's on the lot had a similar problem and Toyota had no available fix. A fix was attempted by Maguire Toyota on Grand Island NY. Unsuccessful they attempted to contact a Toyota Rep and have no solution available. No warning lamps or messages illuminate.

Transmission line was described by two auto mechanics (one from a Toyota dealership) as “rusted out” and “porous”, “low pressure/fluid” and “needs to be fixed”. I was totally unaware of the issue until I had to get my AC recharged. Note: this is a 2017 truck with 82,000 miles driven in Massachusetts. No warning lights went off.

My 2016 Toyota Tacoma has had multiple oil leaks in the timing cover. The dealer has already fixed this issue twice and the timing cover is currently leaking oil. This leak is expensive to fix because it involves removing the engine and the transmission to properly seal the timing cover. This is a know defect that poses a serious safety concern as the oil leak may go from a small leak to a large leak quickly, causing the engine to fail. Additionally the air pressure from driving can cause the oil to end up everywhere which can lead other components to degrade and fail. Because the fix is so complex, the process to remove and reinstall the engine and transmission may result in other mistakes. During one of the attempts to fix the issue, the dealer forgot to replace an engine bolt and forgot to hook up a vent hose. The cost to fix this issue is so high that it makes it too expensive for many to fix.

My 2009 Toyota Tacoma is experiencing the same technical problems as recall 14V168000 and 12V092000. I call Toyota headquarters and they refused to examine my vehicle without paying the diagnostic fee even though my vehicle is exhibiting the exact same issue Toyota is recalling the truck. A mechanic examined the truck and stated the airbag is not active and will not deploy and advised to reach out to Toyota to have them examine it. Even though my truck is not on the recall list however it is exhibiting exactly what the recall is calling for and Toyota is failing to acknowledge it.
