Was told today that my rear brakes need to be replaced by the dealer. The vehicle has only 18,000 miles and most of that is highway. They said it seems the rear brakes are wearing out faster than normal on these due to the small size of the pad and electronic parking brake. This is not safe and unfair.

This is a new car with 30,000 miles on it. There are two issues, the brakes apparently do not distribute the braking workload evenly or the parts were counterfeit from manufacture. The rear brakes had to be replaced, pads and rotors resurfaced. The front brakes were unaffected and good. Back brakes should not need replacing before front brakes, yet the rotors were scarred with grooves. I have a photo of one of the rotors. Additionally, the (Auto-start & stop) at a halt does not kick in quickly enough to avoid a collision when moving and merging into traffic from a standstill.

4 separate times now when driving the vehicle the vehicle has sputtered and died. The first time we were on a road driving at around 40mph and were able to coast into a parking lot. After a few minutes the vehicle restarted a we took it to the dealer the next day. The first 2 occurrences were in January of 2024. The 3rd occurrence was on April 23,2024. At around 9:30 PM, I was on my way home from the store and driving at 55mph when the vehicle suddenly died and was coasting. I was able to coast into an empty school parking lot. The Pathfinder would not restart and had to be towed to the dealership. They replaced the fuel pump and we picked it up on April 29th. The 4th time happened on May 20, 2024. We had just dropped our dogs off at the groomer and as we were leaving their parking lot, the engine suddenly died and would not restart. Since the vehicle does not have a way of putting it into reverse when it is off, we had to try starting it repeatedly until we were able to get it into neutral and then it had to be pushed back into the parking lot and had to be towed from there to the dealership, where it currently sits.

It appears the rear brake pads degrade over a short amount of usage. My vehicle currently has approximately 28,000 miles and I have had to replace the rear pads twice. Once at 13k miles and another at 27,500 miles. Car vibrates violently upon heavy braking. This seems to be a known issue with the manufacturer; however, no recalls have been issued.

At 18,000 miles I was told that I would need to replace the rear brakes as well as the rotors. I only drive in the city and I am not a hard driver. I have never had to replace brakes and rotors within a year of driving.

On numerous occasions while cruising at highway speeds ability to accelerate disengages. There is no ability to accelerate and RPMs drop, car loses speed until transmission and acceleration re-engages. When the car does this you are unable to shift gears to attempt to engage and the vehicle still shows as though it is in drive. Vehicle has gone to dealer service numerous times and they are unable to replicate the issue and allege that there are no “codes” in the computer. They are reluctant to dive deeper into the issue despite the fact that this is a safety issue.

While driving, car shifts into neutral on its own. It happened as I was driving on the highway at 75 mph and out of nowhere i realized my car was in neutral causing me to redline and slowed down while trying to change lane and almost causing an accident. Thank god I was driving and was able to respond in time by shifting back into drive. Happened twice in one hour on a road trip

Rear brakes are worn to require replacement of brakes and rotors at 12,500 miles. No off road driving. Just normal highway and city. Took vehicle in for oil change and dealer service technician noted the wearing of the brakes pads and rotors.

Water is leaking from my light fixture. Nissan suspected it to be the sunroof. Unfortunately the component that has failed/malfunctioned is unknown. It was suspected to be the sunroof. Nissan has failed to fix the issue multiple times. My safety as well as others are at risk for possible shock or getting electrocuted with water leaking by enclosed wires. The issue was confirmed by Nissan Service Center. I did get Nissan Consumer Affairs involved, and they were absolutely no help. I'm paying for a vehicle that has a manufacturer's issue but Nissan refusals to fix it. But they can't fix it because they don't know what is causing the issue. I have provided a full detail in the attached documents

When we purchased this vehicle in June 2023, one of the first things I noticed, was an unusual switch on the steering wheel to allow, selecting and viewing all of the vehicle display information. This switch is located on the left side of the steering wheel. It is labeled OK meaning OK to display the selected menu item when you depress the OK button. The switch consists of a thumb wheel to go up or down on the menu selection, and then you depress the thumb wheel to engage the item selected. We’ve had the vehicle nine months and we were driving and my wife attempted to select something by rotating the thumb wheel and pushing OK button. The OK button got stuck in the down position disabling the ok button and preventing her from changing anything on the vehicle info screen. We consider being unable to access vehicle information a safety issue. The switch was promptly replaced by Nissan under warranty. I am an electronics person and I consider this particular style switch too delicate for long term use, a bad design and one that will probably continue to fail. The issue with this switch is the “thumb wheel selector” for menu items instead of an up or down button like on our other three vehicles that do the same functions on those vehicles. Nissan made a very bad choice on using this type of switch.

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for a service appointment, the contact was informed that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that when the front brakes were applied, the rear brakes constantly made contact with the front brakes which caused the rear brakes to wear down, unusually faster. Additionally, the contact stated that the dealer agreed that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect within the design of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the repair fee for the rear brake replacement was refunded. The failure mileage was approximately 30,517. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle shut off. The driver was able to restart the vehicle after several hours. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact received an email informing him there was a possible failure with the emission, a control malfunction, a misfire, or a malfunction. The message also stated do not drive vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 5,931.

Windshield cracked on passenger side 2 weeks after purchase. Then a few months later a star formed behind rearview mirror in middle of glass. The windshield is pitted in spots. Then last week the driver window cracked and has ran all the way up the window in a day. I feel like the glass in my car if bad. I reported it to my dealership and was given a run around about the extended warranty doesn’t cover glass that’s already cracked. It cracked and was hit all at the same time. In all 3 instances! I feel it’s a safety hazard, to drive around and something hit your windshield and just cause it to crack completely through! It’s also a HUGE EXPENSE for a new vehicle to have these issues.

As a result of service on this vehicle that was provided by Nissan of McKinney in McKinney, Texas the vehicle was intentionally returned to the owner after servicing in an unsafe condition. The service included removal of a trailer hitch receiver and electrical harness that had been installed earlier. After the service and the electrical harness removal, the vehicle was left with exposed electrical conductors underneath the rear bumper that are exposed to the external contaminated road environment. This results in a potential for electrical fire, electrical harness damage, and possible explosion with the exposed electrical conductors so near the fuel tank. The problem has been reported to Nissan of McKinney several times, who, while they acknowledge having received the communications, have not commented on the condition in which they left the vehicle, and will not state if this is a safety issue.

- #11572234February 15, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
In the past week or so I’ve experienced a blinking front collision light blinking as I’m driving. In the past two days the blinking light is now an actual audible alert with a collision warning system malfunction warning light saying it is disabled. Sometimes however, the adaptive cruise control still appear to work, sometimes it doesn’t. The light and system malfunction appears and then turns off on its own with no apparent reason. This is a serious safety concern because if the system does malfunction can lead to a collision when driving and/or parking if the light is blinking. When I took it to the dealer they were quick to dismiss the issue saying it can be caused by an obstruction to the windshield camera by dirt, frost, ice, etc. They cleared the codes (C2582-97, C2506-49 and C1F05-49) and sent me on my way. Sure enough on my way home the same thing happened. Please investigate this matter before someone is seriously injured or worse.
