On Saturday, June 20, I was driving my son to soccer. We stopped at a stoplight. When the light turned green, I pressed the accelerator and we went forward. However, when I took my foot off the accelerator, the car continued to accelerate. Luckily it slowed down when I pushed on the break. But every time I took my foot off the break the car continued to accelerate. I did not have a good place to pull over to the side. So at the next stop light, I turned the car completely off. I turned it back on again, but the same thing happened. I arrived at the soccer field and parked the car for the remainder of the day, which was several hours. It did not do that again that evening. The other thing that has happened a couple of times prior to the incident and since is, the Nissan panel display that lights up when you turn the car on turned completely off and on again several times at random while I was driving. Usually the panel stays with eliminated and plays audio or shows a map. It turned itself completely off to Black and then back on again as if the car was starting up again. On Tuesday, I took the car to Nissan because I had called the problem in over the weekend, but their service center was not open. They were unable to replicate the problem. However, on my way to Nissan, the accelerator again pressed forward independently of my actions and the car accelerated without warning. This is very scary and felt extremely dangerous. I told the technicians that Nissan that the problem appeared similar to a recall that had been in place a few years ago. But they said that unless they could replicate the problem, they weren’t able to do anything about it. I was very unsatisfied with that because it seemed like a pretty dangerous situation.

- #11746000June 23, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While driving with cruise control set to a certain speed (i do not recall the exact speed it was set to) I pressed the button that lowers the current speed it is set to, but instead of lowring by one mph it raised the speed, pressing again raised the speed again. this continued a few times until i turned off cruise control. The system has been buggy in the past, for example not responding to a button or raising by 2 or 3 mph instead of one (the Leaf goes one by one, not jumps like some vehicles). But this was the first time i saw it actually raise speed in response to a button that should lower it and that seems dangerous. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. It has not been inspected by anyone since the incident occurred. There were no warning lamps or messages. The overall bugginess has been noticeable for a long time (perhaps always?) but this occurred (raising the speed instead of lowering it) for the first time yesterday.

My 2019 Nissan Leaf SL Plus is subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-700 for a battery defect that poses a fire risk during DC fast charging. The recall was issued in September 2024 with a fix promised by November 2024. Nissan repeatedly delayed the remedy, first to Spring 2025, then Q3 2025, then March 2026, then an indefinite date in 2026. During this time I was instructed not to use Level 3 DC fast charging. I was without this capability for approximately 18 months. I purchased the SL Plus specifically for the extended range provided by the 62 kWh battery, which depends on fast charging for longer trips. Without fast charging the vehicle was reduced to short-range local use only. The remedy Nissan eventually provided was a software update only. It does not repair the underlying battery defect; excessive lithium deposits within battery cells causing increased electrical resistance. The software monitors for conditions that could lead to a thermal event and shuts down charging if detected. The physical defect remains in the battery. Nissan included a letter with the software update stating that if the vehicle triggers a specific error code within one year of the update, they would replace the battery or buy back the vehicle. This suggests Nissan acknowledges the software update does not adequately address the defect. I am filing this complaint because the recall remedy does not fix the root cause of the safety defect, and because Nissan took 18 months to provide even this inadequate remedy. The component is the lithium-ion battery pack and it is available for inspection.

Recall for FAST CHARGE LEVEL 3 CHADEMO has been issued for over 6 months. I am advised not to fast charge due to risk of devastating fire. Very dangerous to continue to use this car in an urban setting. Buyback was denied and told to wait for a fix. No fix yet! I can't get out of Philadelphia in this car. Tesla wouldn't let this happen!

- #11745363June 20, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
I was at a red light on a slight decline with my foot on the regular brake. I am 99% certain the Epedal was on. Something startled me and I took my foot off the regular brake, but the Epedal should have held the car still. It didn't, and I rolled into a Jeep SUV, smashing in the front of my car where the charging port is. Progressive Insurance says my car is totalled. The airbags did not deploy, and no one was hurt, but my passenger, an 89-year old with a recent hip replacement, could have been compromised. I am researching Black Box retrieval options, but they appear to cost more than my deductible. There were no warnings that the system was faulty.

I own a 2020 Nissan Leaf affected by recall 24V-700 (Nissan R24B2). The recall opened in September 2024 because the high-voltage battery can overheat and catch fire during Level 3 fast charging. Owners were told not to use fast charging until a remedy is available. The recall has been open since September 2024 and there is still no available remedy. Nissan has pushed the fix date repeatedly, first to November 2024, then Spring 2025, and now an unspecified point in 2026, with no firm date and no working repair at the dealer. I bought this vehicle more recently and understood there was an open recall, but a recall is supposed to mean a fix is coming, not a safety defect left unresolved for over a year and a half. In the meantime I am paying for a vehicle whose fast-charging capability I cannot safely use. This is well past any reasonable time to remedy a known safety defect. I am asking NHTSA to hold Nissan accountable for delivering an actual fix on a real timeline.

"2022 Nissan Leaf 40 kWh (VIN: [XXX], ~41,570 miles) lost motive power at highway speed on [XXX]. Vehicle entered turtle mode and shifted into neutral while traveling on the freeway, requiring me to coast to an off-ramp (I was completely unable to use the accelerator nor move the car into Park). Vehicle was inoperable and required towing. This followed a similar incident on [XXX], where the vehicle entered turtle mode 7 miles from home despite showing 120 miles of indicated range. LeafSpy diagnostics confirm 8 weak battery cells with a 261 mV spread. Open recall NHTSA 25V-655 is unresolved. This is a safety defect, not normal degradation. I am attaching photos that show significant variance in mileage--at one point, I had 95 miles, and within 7 miles, it had gone to 0 miles and after another 8 miles, it entered turtle mode. 3 miles after that, the car essentially shut off and went into neutral. - #11744625June 16, 2026BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
I had intermittent loss of back-up camera picture, with initial repair paid by me on 8/3/22. The problem persisted intermittently, I was told the only option was to replace the camera, which I found with online search didn't fix the problem. 9/11/24 the dealer "fixed" the problem when a recall was issued. It worked for a short time. I returned 11/11/24 with the same problem, but because it was intermittent they could not find an issue. I have photos of 8 more intermittent failures since then, my partner doesn't document problems when she's using the vehicle. I have seen no change in the frequency or effects of the backup camera malfunctions since it first began prior to the first visit for repair in 2022.

I am filing a complaint regarding NHTSA Recall 24V-700 (R24B2) for my 2019 Nissan LEAF S Plus, VIN: [XXX], Nissan Case No. XXX. I complied fully with Nissan's recall instructions, avoiding Level 3 fast charging for my entire ownership. On or about April 23, I filed a complaint with Nissan Consumer Affairs (Case #XXX) regarding the impact of the charging restriction on my vehicle's usability and requested a buyback. Nissan denied my claim approximately two months ago. I then surrendered my vehicle for the recall repair. The dealer returned it, stating the recall was remedied. Over the following three days, I drove only short local trips with minimal driving — no fast charging. The vehicle lurched violently on a public road, entered turtle mode, and displayed multiple dashboard warning lights. I drove it slowly to the dealership. My dealer confirmed full battery replacement is required and submitted a Goodwill Warranty claim on my behalf — acknowledging this failure was not due to owner misuse. Nissan North America (Case No. XXX) has since informed me in writing that battery replacement cannot be provided and is now offering repurchase. The battery failure occurred directly after Nissan's purported recall repair with minimal driving. Nissan claimed the defect was fixed — it was not. I am concerned the KBB value Nissan intends to use may be artificially suppressed by five open safety recalls, including 24V-700, and the vehicle's current non-operational status — caused entirely by Nissan's defective repair. I request NHTSA scrutinize Nissan's repurchase valuation methodology for affected owners. I request NHTSA investigate Nissan's failure to remedy this recall. My preferred remedy remains battery replacement. I should not bear the financial consequences of a repair Nissan certified as complete. This car has turned off on me randomly 3 times. I have taken it twice now to the dealership and each time they have found “nothing wrong with the car”. All of the recalls and maintenance on the car have continuously been done. The most recent recall was already done on it 2 days ago. The information on here that it hasn’t been done is false. The first time the car turned off was at a red light while my foot was fully on the brake so I was fully stopped. There were absolutely no warning signs and I immediately turned the car back on with no issues at all and drove normally after that (other than the fact I was scared to death about what just happened). The second 2 times have been when the car is on park. It is extremely random and my family and I fear for our life and safety. I ignored it after the first time that we took it in and they said nothing was wrong after running a diagnostic, but it has happened 2 times after that. I took it back in 2 days ago and they still found nothing wrong after doing the diagnostic. I am in “contact” with a regional affairs specialist but if you don’t answer them the first time there’s no way to get back in contact with them because they DO NOT answer your call at all. I called the general line and they said to wait until the 17th, which is almost in a WEEK. I know in my heart that I’m not lying and there’s something severely wrong with this car. I don’t even want to sell it because I don’t want to put other people’s safety at risk and feel responsible for that. I need an engineer an actual specialist someone who can help.

- #11743717June 12, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The vehicle has experienced approximately ten+ incidents while driving at freeway speeds on dry roads where the traction-control indicator illuminated and the vehicle unexpectedly lost power. During these events, the vehicle would not accelerate normally despite accelerator input, and vehicle speed decreased significantly. The incidents occurred under normal driving conditions and were not associated with any apparent loss of traction. The vehicle was inspected by a Nissan dealership, but the concern could not be reproduced and no root cause has been identified. A case has been opened with Nissan North America. I am reporting this because unexpected loss of propulsion at highway speeds creates a potential safety hazard. The speed decreases from 70mph to around 30-40mph on the freeway suddenly.

Level 3 quick charging was not working, and only Level 2 charging is working now. That creates a risk of not working if Level 2 charging does not work as well. Nissan issued the letter on 3/18/2026 to recall but not yet provided the detailed repair plan as of today. Please advise. The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Leaf. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V655000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that a Level 3 charging error message was displayed, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer, who performed an electrical software update, but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,830.

- #11742970June 9, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I am reporting a critical safety hazard involving my 2021 Nissan Leaf S Plus (approx. 117,000 miles). Since January 2025, the vehicle has exhibited dangerous battery degradation and voltage sag during operation. On my 30-mile highway commute, while driving at normal highway speeds—especially on inclines—the vehicle would suddenly display a low-power warning, and the remaining battery percentage would instantly crash. This caused a sudden, dangerous loss of propulsion in high-speed traffic, creating severe crash risks. I primarily charged at home and rarely used DC fast charging. On May 22, 2026, while actively driving, the dashboard flashed: "Service EV system unable to restart after power off." I pulled over, and upon turning the car off, it completely bricked. The auxiliary electronics power up, but the vehicle permanently refuses to enter "READY" (Drive) mode due to a high-voltage safety lock. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Nissan dealer. The certified technician's diagnostic report confirmed that the high-voltage traction battery has completely failed and is internally damaged. Crucially, this vehicle is currently under an active, unremedied safety recall (NHTSA Recall 25V655 / Nissan R25C8) due to excessive lithium deposits that cause severe battery degradation, sudden power loss, and fire risks. The physical failure of my battery is a direct manifestation of this exact manufacturing defect. Nissan’s software-only "interim remedy" did not fix the hardware defect; it simply bricked my car after exposing my family to highway propulsion loss. Nissan must be held legally responsible for replacing these defective, recalled battery packs regardless of mileage, as they present a severe, systemic risk of catastrophic failure and traffic accidents.

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Leaf. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V700000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, the message that the "Battery was Low" was displayed, and while the vehicle was slowing down, the vehicle regained charge back up to 80%. The contact stated that on another occasion, after the vehicle was parked and charging with a Level 2 charger, the vehicle failed to start the next day. The contact stated that the battery only charged to 61% and the vehicle failed to start up. The message "Service EV System" and the battery warning light were illuminated. A battery tester was connected to the vehicle and indicated that the battery was fully charged. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,408.

Recall R25C8 has restricted my vehicle from Level 3 charging since October 2025. The manufacturer has left me with a vehicle that cannot perform basic long-distance transit for over half a year. This is our only vehicle and makes long distance traveling to visit family impossible without renting a car.

Fail component: mechanical linkage (transmission rod) between the motor and the wiper arms. The ball pops out of the socket resulting in the wipers not working despite motor running. This happened with full speed wipers running. I repaired it, and two weeks later it disconnected again while running wipers at full speed in heavy rain. This left me without windshield wipers in heavy rain on a road with a 55mph speed limit. If I had not been able to quickly exit this would have resulted in significant risk to myself and other motorists. I was able to drive home on slower side roads, but the lack of wipers remained a safety issue. I have not taken in into a dealer or shop to have it reproduced. I will take photos while fixing. No incident or police reports were filed. There were no warning lights or alarms before or after this occurred. It seems this is a known issue that is common to Nissan vehicles including the leaf.

Manufacturer announced a recall regarding L3 charging more than 18 months ago. The announcement included a warning that, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES, should L3 charging be attempted. The announcement included assurances that the fix would be announced by March 2025. In the interim period, two follow-ups have been announced, both coming well after the previous deadline. At this point. I have been unable to use my car in a normal manner, causing us to purchase an additional vehicle to cover the loss of use due to the defect. The manufacturer has offered no fix, no concrete timeline, and no compensation for the loss of use of the vehicle.
