Nissan Leaf experienced large state of charge fluctuations while driving. State of charge was jumping up and down rapidly. Vehicle was taken in to Alpine Nissan in Federal Height, Colorado. Car was diagnosed with a cell imbalance across multiple cells which coincides with recall number R24B2 (NTHSA - 24V-700). I have been trying for weeks to get Nissan Consumer Affairs to give me a solution for the car as its undrivable due to the safety defect. At this point I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone in the last week. The car has a serious loss of power risk and is a fire hazard. The defect is well documented in the recall. The raw battery data and invoice for battery replacement is attached. Case number with Nissan is #[XXX]. I cannot get a written statement from the manufacturer or the dealer that the car is safe to drive in its current state. This is related to NHTSA recall 25V-655: I am no longer able to DC fast charge my vehicle due to the recall related to charging and battery instability. This prevents me from using the car in the way that it was intended. I cannot drive more than 80 miles from my home in any direction. Less if I drive on the highway. This is not an acceptable situation for a vehicle. If a gas vehicle could not be refueled as it was designed, the vehicle would be replaced by the manufacturer. I have filed a request for buy back but the manufacturer has stated that there were not enough recalls built up on my vehicle to warrant a replacement or any compensation.

The reverse camera is consistently not connected and shows a pink, gray, or distorted image when in reverse. A few months ago, it would intermittently do this and then resolve itself. I mentioned this at the Nissan service center during our maintenance check up and because it couldn't be replicated, they would charge me just to complete a diagnostic report. I declined especially since it fixed itself. For the last several weeks, it hasn't been functioning correctly which makes seeing my surroundings less safe. I've reviewed [XXX] and see that other Nissan Leafs in our date range require repair, but the recall is not listed for our vin number. I'm worried about our safety due to the failure of the reverse camera and would like support in a resolution as we no longer have the vehicle under warranty. It has been months this recall has been out. I have a 2022 leaf on a car note for a year now. I barely get 50-60 miles per full charge. My car is basically useless if I cannot fast charge it which I haven’t been able to because of this recall that has had no remedy for months. I am paying for a car I can’t use to its full potential. Now I’ve noticed when my car is on 60% or less and I’m driving on the highway the battery will go from 60 something percent to 45 and drop drastically. This is a major inconvenience.

RE: Manufacturer Recall Number R24B2 - No Remedy available for more than a year! I am the original owner of my 2019 Nissan Leaf SL in California but have been unable to use my car for traveling due to the fast charge port recall. I have performed all the services and the recalls at the local Nissan dealer but there is still no remedy for the fast charge issue. As per the purchase agreement with Nissan, I should be able to use fast chargers without limitation but the lack of ability to use the fast charge port has severely hampered my ability to use the vehicle to travel even within my state. Nissan has promised a fix for more than a year but has failed to deliver.

When putting the car in reverse, the Backup Camera goes blank. This causes backing up out of a parking space to be hazardous because driver is unable to see around the end of the cars on either side. No inspection has taken place yet. No other warnings or messages.

On 1/6/2026, as I slowed down as I was turning into my parking lot. I had Eco and e-pedal ON for regenerative braking. As I was turning into the parking lot, the car suddenly accelerated, went over the curb, across the street, over another curb before finally stopping after colliding with a structure. I was driving slowly and distinctively recall braking. This sudden unintended acceleration put safety at risk and caused significant property damage. There were no warning signs or messages. The car is in the yard now and will be available for inspection.

Nissan still has not provided a remedy for recall number Nissan recall R24B2 NHTSA 24V700000. This prevents me from being able to access the full use of the car because I cannot fast charge without risk of damaging the EV battery. Just last week I had to borrow a gas car and pay for gas in order to take a road trip. This is unacceptable. We should have a remedy by now.

Nissan has informed Leaf owners that we cannot use DCFC to charge the car, there is a danger of fire from an overheating battery. This poorly designed battery management system severely limits the distance one can travel in the car. It has become an expensive short commute vehicle! Nissan offered to "repurchase" my car. The offer had over $27K deductions for milage and repayment of my $10k lien I would have to pay Nissan $2,800 for them to take the car back! Nissan should take full responsibility for the known recall and poor engineering.

Recall issued 9/24. Remains without a remedy with no estimated time for solution per Nissan Consumer Affairs Regional specialist. Vehicle is unsafe to be charged at fast charging chargers due to possibility of fire in lithium ion battery limiting my ability to travel. Also, the market value and utility is diminished due to this open recall. Requested buy back from Nissan North America and was denied citing not enough repair information on file with dealership where purchased and serviced. I see no connection to this statement governing the recall in question. I have followed the manufacturer’s recommended service for this vehicle as stated in the owner’s manual. This is unsatisfactory to me due to this extended recall compromising my safety and my ability to get market value for the vehicle at this point in time should I choose to do so.

I am submitting this letter as a formal safety complaint concerning NHTSA Recall No. 25V655000, which affects my 2021 Nissan LEAF SV and results in the continued restriction of DC fast charging due to a reported fire risk, without an available or timely remedy. Under this recall, Nissan has restricted the vehicle’s ability to safely utilize DC fast charging. While I understand and support actions taken to mitigate fire risk, the absence of a corrective repair or defined resolution timeline has effectively removed a core operational capability of the vehicle on an indefinite basis. DC fast charging is a fundamental feature of the Nissan LEAF and was a material factor in my decision to purchase the vehicle. Since the recall was implemented, the vehicle cannot be used as designed or marketed for time-constrained travel, despite otherwise being mechanically operable. I was advised that a corrective update or repair would be available and, based on that representation, scheduled a service appointment with an authorized Nissan dealer on December 29, 2025. At that appointment, I was informed that no fix currently exists and that the restriction remains indefinite. No interim remedy, alternative accommodation, or estimated timeline was provided. As it stands, the recall has resulted in a vehicle that cannot safely perform a core function for which it was sold, with no effective remedy in place. Owners are effectively required to accept an indefinite loss of functionality to mitigate a safety risk, raising concerns about defect resolution timelines, adequacy of interim measures, and consumer safety implications. I appreciate NHTSA’s role in ensuring vehicle safety and accountability, and I am submitting this complaint to support appropriate oversight and review.

The vehicle has an open recall that could cause it to catch fire. I purchased this vehicle depending on fast charging since I live in an apartment and have no where to charge at work. I have spoken to Nissan about this and requested a repurchase. Nissan asked me to wait for the recall fix and continue to drive a car that I can’t even charge with my lifestyle. This has been an open issue for over 1 year and there is no fix in sight. At this point I just don’t have transportation since I can’t fast charge. I want Nissan to repurchase my car with this defective battery

I currently have a recall on my Nissan 2021 Leaf SV Plus. There is an issue with the level 3 charging which can result in fire to the vehicle. As a result, I’m unable to rapid charge. Nissan has failed to remedy the issue or offer any attempts to fix this recall. I’m unable to charge my vehicle at this time.
