The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the dealer on three occasions because of electrical or software failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 2,174.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
The contact owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC300. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the windshield wiper blades detached. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased new in 2017. The contact stated that whenever it rained and the wipers were activated, the wiper blades would detach and flop over the front windshield. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times and the wiper blades had been replaced several times; however, the failure was persistent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 500.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VISIBILITY/WIPER, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
The windshield washer pump failed due to the Sam unit. Failing I was in the mountains, started my car the windshield wiper malfunction light came on the wipers worked for a minute, so I turned them off, drove over the pass and tried to use my wipers, and they did not work. The back wipers did work. I took my car to my mechanic in Cheyenne, who discovered that’s the SAM unit Ruined the windshield washer pump. No one else has inspected it other than my mechanic. I have learned that there are others complaining of the same issue online. This is a dangerous issue when you are driving in a storm with no windshield wipers. My mechanic believes this should be a recall issue, and so do I. The Mercedes dealership said my mechanic, a faulty Sam unit to replace the Sam unit that went out. Now my car is throwing all kinds of codes and the back windshield wipers do not work.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On [XXX], I was driving at 45MPH on a two-lane state road. There was no traffic within 1/4 -1/2 mile of me on that road. There were no guardrails and the road was clear - no birds, animals, people, or construction. For no reason, the car beeped twice and automatically slammed on the brakes so forceful that everything on a seat landed on the floor. Had there been a vehicle behind me, they would have almost certainly slammed into me. This is my second safety report with this vehicle, the previously reported lane keeping assist still allows me to depart my lane with no correction or indication by the system, the dashboard indicators remain green if I depart my lane without a turn signal. It has been in 5 times for this and Mercedes closed the case. They say it's fine. Lemon law attorneys in my state refuse to take cases with Mercedes so I am stuck with a vehicle that should not be allowed on US roads, can't lemon law it and can't sell it or trade it in with a clear conscience. There is a laundry list of other problems as I drive more than 25,000 miles a year but I only report those which could get myself or others killed. My car is 6 years old and has done about 30000 miles. The amplifier in the car has failed, resulting in no volume for Radio, GPS , Bluetooth devices. This seems to be a common failure in the GLC 300 based on web search.

Car failed to accelerate due to faulty fuel pump, fuel tank, etc. Car stopped and died several times in the middle of heavy traffic. Mercedes Benz of West Houston, Sewell Dealership, has my car that was towed to them late afternoon on 3/5/2024. I have owned a Mercedes for over 40 years and never had this occur or be scared due to the car’s lack of performance.

Check Engine light came on. Mercedes Benz authorized service mechanic confirmed it is code P052E - Positive Crankcase Ventilation regulator valve issues that can cause engine to seize while driving. Vehicle has always been serviced regularly at authorized dealer service center. Current estimated Repair and replacement cost $9,700+ . Mercedes Benz authorized Service Center informed that the part is backordered and no estimated date available.

Check engine light appears, also a blue engine and a turtle. The dealer is aware, they have had it 3times for the same issue and this time 23 days and counting. Currently Mercedes has no fix. I purchased the veh 30 Nov 23- first appeared 16 dec and continued going on and off.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
When driving the car at night with the headlights on, you notice a dark, thin object illuminated from the left front headlight approximately 50-75 feet ahead of the vehicle that will move as the steering is turned, either left or right. It looks like a thin pedestrian moving into the path of the car. I noticed this defect within the first few weeks of ownership. I took the car to the dealership and showed my pictures of the lights with the shadow at night to two Mercedes Benz of Sarasota employees. The dealership ran multiple diagnostic tests and determined the car was operating as designed. While the dealership had my car, two employees at the dealership noted they had relatives who had 2024 Mercedes Benz vehicles and had noticed this same issue. They also received the same explanation that this was the design of the headlights. It is concerning, as it could cause a driver to swerve or otherwise create an issue that leads to an accident. I request NHTSA look into this headlight issue and encourage Mercedes Benz to fix this before an accident happens. I have uploaded the work order documents from the dealership. I have uploaded a picture of the shadow reflected on a car ahead of me to show the shadow up close.

STEERING
There is a significant steering vibration as the front wheel drops in a common pothole turning at speeds above 30 mph. There is a loss of control as if the wheel is skipping. It feels like the shock absorber continues to vibrate for a few seconds. I did mention this to Mercedes-Benz during the annual maintenance service but they did not do anything.

P052E71 Engine Separator and actuator malfunctioning. Was told this fails several times on Mercedes vehicles. I will not pass emissions with this issue. Over $2K to repair and engine light along with code appears. I have videos of the engine light coming off and on. Car has been inspected by Firestone and Mercedes Service Center.

I have had to replace the faulty pcv valve in my vehicle every 11 months since I have owned it. At over $1,000 a piece and with this being a well known problem with this make of vehicle the company needs to fix this problem. There are thousands of complaints online about this. Thank you for your time. Since this is an emission component the extended warranty will not cover it.

We hit a deer at 50mph. Active restraint system pulled us back into our seats. Cabin filled with white smoke/powder. Windows automatically lowered a few inches. Dash display panel issued fault alarms on all airbags and emergency braking systems; front and rear. Vehicle automatically contacted Mercedes SOS and dispatched police. Air bags never deployed.

The car randomly shows an empty tank of gas at the start of the day, when there was a half tank of gas remaining. I filled the gas, but the car did not register any fuel-up and kept showing empty. I took it to the dealer for repair and the fuel tank sensor was replaced under warranty a month ago. Now, this week the same issue reappeared. The car began showing no gas in the tank on a random morning last week and remained driveable for a couple of days. The gas levels reappeared corrected on day #3. Today, 4 days later, the car went back to showing zero gas, and shut off while I was driving on an expressway with my minor child in the car. All of the lights on the dash lit up, and the car stopped. It is immovable. It could have caused a severe or fatal accident and this is totally unacceptable!! This is the third time this issue appears on a brand new car that I’ve had less than a year, with 15k miles.

POWER TRAIN
Vehicle sputter and coolant malfunction and engine light came on while driving ( 12-26-23) Took to dealer for some “ update”. After a few weeks of driving the vehicle sputter again and engine light came on again on the (1-19-2024 ) Drove home turned off , loud noises came from engine area. Tried to restart and failed a few times so we let it’s sit for almost an hour and it’s started again with engine light still on . Towed to Mercedes dealer and after long and frustrating times a week later per dealer it’s was the 48v hybrid battery that defective/ non functional. So far we been forced to drive the vehicle “as is” since Mercedes-Benz USA refused to let local dealer to order and replace the 48v hybrid battery. It’s been 2 weeks all informations we get from dealership is that we have to wait for Mercedes to come up with new software to update to which no time frame have been provided as to when software available. We’re experiencing terrible gas mileage MPG with the 48v battery basically non functional as moment

The last time I drove my vehicle was Monday [XXX] which that day it was raining. I covered my car with my car cover that day because I don't use my vehicle often and being that it was raining I covered it and my vehicle was fine on this day. On Monday [XXX] it was raining as well, I took off my car cover off and when we opened the trunk of the vehicle we noticed that the trunk was wet including the bag to my car cover. We also noticed from the trunk opening that the vehicle had some spots of mold and there was also mold spots on the back of the seat right side of vehicle. I had an appointment at Mercedes Benz dealership in Portland Oregon to change my transmission & engine oil. As I drove the vehicle to the dealership for my appointment my daughter and I noticed drops of water falling on us and we didn't have our windows open because it was raining. The water was coming from the sunroof area and the sunroof wasn't open. We kept driving until we got to the dealership and once we got there we noticed that the back seats were also wet and the right side back seat had a few spots of mold on the seatbelt. We left the vehicle at the dealership. Today Wednesday [XXX] the dealership is stating that because the sunroof is used so much the parts in that area due to wear and tear it's no longer working properly. They are charging my daughter 500.00 for a water test that they did to the top of the sunroof and for changing the seals the the sunroof and the back of the trunk they are charging I believe an additional 736.00. I feel that there is something wrong with the sunroof this vehicle. My daughter only drove it for about one year and in May 2018 I became the only driver of this vehicle and to be honest I don't even open the sunroof at all. The dealership is stating that it will cost approximately 15,000.00 to fix this problem and if not considering this vehicle a total loss. I have taken the delivery of this car on May 2023 and has been having many issues including but not limited to rear seatbelt malfunction that needed replacement.
