EXTERIOR LIGHTING
I own a 2022 Land Rover Defender and the front lights have both burned out. The issue is the running day lights burn out and the ONLY fix is to replace the entire headlight. The cost of replacing the headlight is over $3,000 and has happen to both headlight in my 3+ year old car. This is a safety issue because the running day light need to be used in order to property see the vehicle and use the turn signals. I have spoken to the dealership and looked online in Land Rover forums and this is a very common problem. I'm requesting a recall on the headlights for the Defender and also recommend that their should be a fix that does not cost over $3,000 when a simple LED has burned out. VISIBILITY/WIPER
Front Windshield has cracked. Defender has less than 10K and has only been driven on city roads and highway. No offroad. Chip left of center occurred from pebble while driving on Freeway back February. Took vehicle to Safelite for repair within a week. Two months later Chip expanded into a lateral crack extending nearly two feet towards passenger side. Crack is now extending towards driverside almost 10" Land Rover claims Defender is made for offroad but there appears to be the windshield is structurally weak.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
1. The driver side DAYTIME Running Light has failed as of 1/20/25. 2. Some states require the DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS to be operating. (So, I need to replace this headlamp.) 3. Three auto repair companies have confirmed the DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS are not operating and the entire headlight will need to be replaced. 4. No warning lights are available for the Daytime Running Lights. I found the issue while observing the front headlights of the Defender. 5. The issue is that I have been told by 3 different auto repair companies that numerous Defenders have the same issue. The Daytime Running Lights have failed and the entire Head Lamp has to be replaced. 6. The auto techs say this seems to be a BAD SUPPLY CHAIN and the issue should be addressed by Land Rover. This is due to so many Defenders having the same issue. 7. In addition, I was told by every auto company that the passenger side DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT would be going bad anyday because these headlamps are a problem on Defenders. 8. Land Rover has told me I will have to pay around $4,000 and up to $5,000 to have Land Rover replace the entire HEAD LAMP that has failed on many 2021, 2022, and 2023 Defenders. 9. This is WRONG when Land Rover Defenders have so many Daytime Running Lights Head Lamps going out. There is a BAD SUPPLY CHAIN problem I believe just like the auto techs have told me. 10. I firmly believe some Defenders owners don't even know their Daytime Running Lights are out. It takes you actually checking out the front of your vehicle and noticing the head lamps. (Also, some owners just have the head lamp replaced and write the check.) Please help me with Land Rover replacing this headlamp with a headlamp that doesn't have issues. Land Rover North America should be held responsible for this common Daytime Running Light problem.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
The windshield is very prone to splintering, chips and cracking from even small roadway impacts. I have had to replace the windshield twice in the last 6 months. This has been an ongoing problem with Defender 90 windshields from what I can read and the manufacturer is very aware of it. The windshields pose a danger to the driver at worst and an ongoing and expensive maintenance expense at best.

To whom may it concern, I was driving on [XXX] , in Pennsylvania, at the speed of 65 miles per hour speed, My car engine suddenly stop ( may be i am not able to describe in proper word ) but i tried to put accelerator, car not responding total stop , at the speed of 65 miles per hours , i was driving my car with my entire family - 4 occupant . Luckily i pull over to shoulder and i survive , this is new vehicle purchased in dec /2024( only 15 month old ) - total odometer is 10196 miles . After this incident , I called Range rover road side assistance , Someone came at 6 pm and pick up our vehicle , We were on highway at least for 3 hours , My car is at dealership . Vehicle suspension fault detected light turned on. Vehicle keeps adjusting on its own while on the freeway in traffic. Feels like it stalls. Hear popping noise. Vehicle only had 14k miles and was never used for off roading.

The contact owns a 2024 Land Rover Defender. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the display screen was dark. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V016000 (Back Over Prevention, Equipment); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The dealer informed the contact to turn off and restart the vehicle for the failure to be self-corrected. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 4,500. Parts distribution disconnect.

Near dusk, the driver display (speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge , etc.) automatically dimes to night mode and becomes unreadable. Turning the rheostat controlling display brightness does nothing. Very dangerous. Display should only go to night mode when conditions are actually dark.

We were driving at highway speeds on paved, dry road. The vehicle threw a electrical fault error. As I drove to a safe location to pull over, the vehicle switched into Neutral, every warning light on the dash lit up and my power steering failed. We barely coasted to a safe spot on the shoulder of the highway we were on in the mountains. The parking brake also would not work. The vehicle then completely died and we were stuck in an area with no cell phone service. The rear hatch also would not open

The windshield on my Land Rover Defender cracked from a tiny pebble. I sealed the crack but I'm just waiting for it to crack again. My friend [XXX] has the same car and he's on his fourth windshield. When I purchased the car, the sales person recommended the extended warranty because "the windshield is $3000 and you'll use it". EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The headlight/daylight running lamps are known to burn out on these. Mine has burnt out and wont go back on. These are LED's where the LED is not going bad but the LED assembly is getting too hot and burning itself out. This is know issue with LandRover (they even have a special service bulletin [XXX] ) but they are not fixing the problem on vehicles but forcing customers to simply buy new headlights at their expense. Upon further review online, there are hundreds of complaints about this same issue. Land Rover is replacing if under warranty but leaving everyone else to pay approximately $5,000 for a new headlight. Subject vehicle was parked outside in the driveway of my home for ~1 week and wasn't driven. During that time daily temperatures reached into the low-to-mid 90s with plenty of sun. With no impact damage whatsoever the windshield developed a crack starting on the driver's side outer edge and propagating inward approximately 18" toward the center of the vehicle. Vertically, the crack is located approximately midway between the bottom and top of the windshield.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The main display screen will randomly not turn on upon startup of the vehicle. This prevents me from using the reverse camera, parking aids or any other functions or driving aids that are accessed through the screen. Turning off the vehicle and / or restarting the screen does not fix the issue...the screen will just randomly start working or stop working. This might happen 2 or 3 times per day and then may not happen for a month. In my 6 months of ownership it has happen more than 15 times. Others in the online forums are experiencing this problem and I feel this is a safety issue.
