SEAT BELTS
am the owner of a 2024 Kia Telluride, VIN [XXX] . This is the 2nd Telluride we have and total 3rd Kia we have. I am writing to formally report a design defect in the rear seatbelt system that poses a serious child passenger safety hazard. In the second row, where my child’s car seat is installed, the seatbelt buckle is positioned extremely low and close to the seat base. This placement makes it nearly impossible for a child to buckle themselves in and causes delays in securing them quickly. In emergency situations, this design could also prevent a child from unbuckling themselves promptly, creating a serious risk if rapid evacuation is needed. Both in everyday use and urgent scenarios, this flaw can lead to improper restraint or dangerous delays in ensuring a child’s safety. I called Kia Consumer Affairs on Tuesday August, 12th 2025 Case # [XXX] and was told there were no available solutions or suggestions. I am not satisfied with this response, as this is not a matter of convenience but of safety compliance and proper usability for child passengers. As a loyal Kia customer, I expected a resolution or at the very least a clear commitment to investigate this issue. I am requesting that Kia: Document this as an official safety complaint. Inform me if there are any existing Technical Service Bulletins, engineering reviews, or pending design changes related to this issue. Provide an explanation of how Kia intends to address this safety concern for current and future Telluride owners and particularly to me as I have a 2 year lease. I am also submitting this report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) so it is on record for investigation. Photos and video of the defect can be provided upon request. Rear shock failure for the second time. This time in under 9 months. Front crash detection constantly goes off in cold snowy weather or rain. engine issue is frequent popping sound in exhaust and causing dirty oxygen sensors

Sunroof malfunctioned on opening, went off the tracks and is now stuck in an open position. There were no obstructions causing the sunroof to be lifted and dislodged from the tracks. The integrity of the vehicle and its passengers are compromised due to being openly exposed to the elements. Risk of theft, further damage, and injury. Dealership unable to service the vehicle in a timely manner. Problem has been confirmed and inspected by an independent servicer. No warnings or other symptoms.

The upper edge of the car door and the lower edge of the window. Recently, part of the vehicle is coming off on its own, apparently it is a problem with the glue on the metal sheets of the doors.

Wind deflector snapped on Sun roof causing. Sun roof to get lodged and get off track. Unable to close Sun roof now opening it to all types of weather. Safety issue not being able to close the Sun roof while transporting passengers especially children. Kia dealership aware and refusing to help. Wind deflector is a known issue for the 2020 telluride sunroof as found by the NHTSA bulletin on this defective part. Dealership refusing to help since out of warranty even though it is a known issue.

ENGINE
For months I had been having issues with the vehicles oil consumption and the vehicle not keeping oil in it and it just buring out and having to get oil changes every month or month in a half my car begin stalling and shutting off in the middle of traffic due to the issue and now I need a new engine and the car is fairly new, I’ve kept up on my oil changes regularly and KIA refuses to fix the issues because the mileage is outside of the warranty allowance. This has been told to me that this is a common issues for tellurides

The contact owns a 2021 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the check engine warning light had previously illuminated; however, the warning light then turned off independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the dealer was performing an oil consumption test. In addition, the contact was advised by the dealer that further diagnostic testing was needed to diagnose the failure, which could result in the engine being disassembled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the valve cover gasket was replaced. In addition, the oil housing was replaced two times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Driving and trying to brake and brake pushed to floor and still not stop.I pulled over and called AAA.While waiting for AAA to arrive low brake fluid light came on.AAA driver arrived and stated bolts protecting driver side rear tire were gone and caliper on that side were left hanging.Towed to Kia Dealer and stated bolts were clearly removed.Last visit to Kia dealer was 30 days ago only for oil change not brake work.Dealer repaired caliper bolts and pistons for over 2000.Dealer had no idea why bolts came off by themselves and why it happened. There was no warning or lights going off until after brakes failed.Luckily when it happened i was only on back roads so could slow down eventually without incident but if I had been on highway not know how I would have come to a stop before crashing.Can anyone tell me why this happened and how to prevent it from ever happening to me or anyone else owning a Kia Telluride

The piece under my back door window came off. The same piece came off under my passenger door window. I saw it was a problem for other makes and models, but want the Telluride 2024 included since the exact same thing has happened to me. I don’t know where the pieces came off, but it happened this month. I think the glue holding them on melted in the Texas heat and they just blew off.

ENGINE, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
While driving on [XXX] the check engine light came on and engine started shaking and making abnormal noise. I was afraid to keep driving so requested a tow to Bramlett Kia in Decatur, AL. I told the service dept the issue as well as the issue listed below that I've been experiencing, and they told me it would be 3 weeks before they could even assess it as they are extremely backed up. I'm hoping the dealer service dept. can reproduce the issue once they assess it. It has not been inspected by anyone else. I looked up my VIN # to make sure I had not missed a recall but there is no recall on my VIN #. Another issue I'm having is while using the Lane Keeping Assistance the vehicle responds with the Forward Collision Warning and brakes automatically when there is nothing in front of the vehicle. I was driving at approximately 65-70 mph on the freeway at around 7:40 AM when the sunroof glass spontaneously exploded above me. The sound was terrifying...literally like an explosion or gunshot going off. Thankfully, I did not jerk the wheel at this high speed from the scare and the sunroof shade was closed, preventing glass shards from falling on top of me. The sunroof was not hit by any debris and was not near any large trucks, so it was a huge surprise when it happened.

POWER TRAIN
Vehicle transmission has been slipping and Sutter since around 30k miles. Dealer has test vehicle and agrees but will not repair due to no codes in PCM or ECM. Vehicle stalled almost causing another vehicle to clip rear of vehicle. Issue is getting worst.
