Anti Theft Security system is non-existent. There is a current known issue on the internet on the ease of theft of any Kia or Hyundai to certain years of manufacture. I am currently a single disabled person that could be a victim of vehicle theft because of a lack of this security software that Kia did not include on my 2015 vehicle. This Kia/Hyundai known issue could potentially leave anyone stranded in a dangerous situation. All other prior and current vehicles are equipped with the security software. Currently Kia & Hyundai has provided Lock bars for certain police departments to hand out, however .. not in my area. I am receiving warning letters from my Insurance company and have heard of some totally dropping coverages on all vehicles manufactured without the security software. This is a very dangerous situation and I believe that ALL VEHICLES AFFECTED SHOULD BE ISSUED AN IMMEDIATE RECALL AND SOFTWARE UPDATE PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURERS AT NO COST TO CURRENT OWNERS OF THESE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. A proposed class action lawsuit was started in September 2022. In the meantime.. what happens to innocent people who go to a grocery store or doctors office only to find that their car had been stolen while they were inside? Or what happens when they can no longer receive insurance coverage because of the ease of this known lack of security originally promised from the manufacturer? These particular Kia/Hyundai's are missing a "key" anti-theft device..their keys lack computer chips for theft "immobilizer" systems that other car manufacturers have as a standard theft deterrant during those same years of manufacture & currently have on all new vehicles. A MANDATORY RECALL FOR REPAIR SHOULD BE ISSUED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES REFUSE TO INSURE THESE VEHICLES! Anti-Theft technology was included on the sticker price but not installed! I am afraid to go to the grocery store!!

ABS light came on for no apparent reason and took car to Kia dealership and was told it needs ABS Issue: “Your car is going to need an ABS Actuator, this controls how the ABS modulates the brakes when under dangerous braking conditions so that your brakes don't lock up..$2676.56 just for that repair if you'd like us to replace it” and I searched online and do see that some 2019 Kia models had a recall for this very issue, but my VIN is not showing up as affected. The lights came on about 6 mos ago, cleared and then came back on again. Car is at Moritz KIa in FW, TX right now.

After careful inspection by certified auto mechanics at the service shop, "American Muscle" it has been determined that my Kia Optima 2012 2.0L Turbo has metal shavings in it from prematurely-worn bearings. While driving, my car suddenly went into limp mode from a knock sensor alarm while on the freeway. I took it to a professional repair shop, and they looked in the oil pan and found metal shavings from the bearings, both gold in color and silver in color. There was no engine light on prior to this event. It happened suddenly under normal, safe operation. It seems very similar to engine recalls of the same year and model due to metal shavings that resulted from engine manufacturing process causing premature wear of bearings. I have photos and video of the vehicle, the engine and oil pan with metal shavings present. The vehicle shows 100,667 miles at the time of the vehicle inspection.

While driving the vehicle on Tuesday 1/17/23 giving it gas, the engine stopped running. I was going about 45 mph when the engine stopped, multiple lights on the dash turned on including the engine light, oil light, and battery light. I had to coast the car to the side of a 3 lane road. I turned off the car, waited a few moments and tried to turn the car on. The lights went on but the engine did not start. I had the car towed to an auto shop who then advised I should have it taken to a Kia dealer as there is a recall on the vehicle. The dealer has had the car for a week and has only said that the engine is seized and that they can not provide more information without me paying to have the engine taken apart.

The engine froze with absolutely no warning while driving on the highway. I'd just had general maintenance and the front brakes replaced five days prior. Got it to a safe area; fortunately there were no cars in other lanes. It's been at the Kia dealership/repair facility for a week now. I called Kia Corporate; they provided a case number to me and the dealership prior to having it towed there. I've done research on this site and there have been other owners (same car, year, etc) having the same extremely dangerous issue occurring lately, say late 2021- present. Additionally, Kia sent recall #SC245 regarding headliner plate defects. When I called to have my repair done, they didn't have the appropriate tape. Tape?! Good lord. Asked them to contact me when they had the tape. This was 4-5 months ago. Haven't been contacted.

The contact’s sister-in-law owns a 2017 Kia Optima. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine failed to turn over. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed and the mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that his sister-in-law was informed that the VIN was included in a recall; however, the contact’s sister-in-law was not notified of a recall prior to the failure. ENGINE MALFUNCTION: It is available for inspection at Lee Kia, Greenville, NC On January 20, 2023, my car experienced a blinking Malfunction Lamp (MIL) when I was out of town at an appointment in Williamston, NC, 16 miles away. This is the indicator, when blicking, warning for the Knock Sensor Detection System software that was put on my car on December 20, 2018 that the engine is malfunctioning. After my appointment, I drove the car one mile to AutoZone in Williamston, NC and they plugged in their sensor and got the P1326 code. While at AutoZone, I called the Service Center at Lee Kia of Greenville, NC and reported what had happened. They told me not to drive the car and have it towed to them, 1 hour away. My tow service would only allow towing ½ mile to the Dodge Dealership. I called Lee Kia Service Center and talked to a [XXX], Manager of the Service Center. She said it had to go to a Kia Dealership to be covered under the Engine Replacement Recall. On Saturday, January 21, 2023, I called the Service Center at Lee Kia and asked for an update on the car. The Service person told me that it had arrived and they would diagnosis it either that day or on Monday, January 23, 2023. On Monday, January 23, 2023 in the early afternoon, I called Judith the Manager of Lee Kia Service Center and asked for an update on the car. She told me it would take 4 months to diagnosis the car and I would not be able to have a rental car until it was diagnosed. When I asked why it would take 4 months to diagnose my car, she said she had 15 cars ahead of me. She said she only has two technicians that can diagnosis and it takes one day to diagnose a car. The mathematics of that did not add up. My car should be diagnosed in 16 business days, not 4 months. She refused to help me. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Last Friday(01/20/2023), I was driving my car suddenly out of nowhere my car slowed down and wouldn’t start. It has just been 20days since I last serviced. Engine light was on and the other two lights where on as well. I towed it to Kia dealership and after diagnosing they said there has been a lot of fuel leak and issue with the starter so the car wouldn’t turn on. I’m not sure if this isn’t a recall, because my car was completely fine before this incident. The dealer quoted me around $560 for the fuel tube and $890 for the starter.

While driving the EPS light comes on and after that the dash board stops working to wear you're not able to see the speed limit anymore. It also declines the car of any speed. And if you put it in park it won't allow you to shift out of that gear. Dealership said its the HECU.

Driving down the road and suddenly there was loud knocking and smoke coming from under the hood and got it to the side of the road and turned it off and now it won't crank. The dash lights come on when you turn the key and that's all it will do. No noises at all.

While driving vehicle on the freeway there is a sudden lots of power. Excited freeway and tried driving slowly on streets. Check engine light came on. Vehicle knocks and losses power during acceleration and while driving at speed. Problem diagnosed as bad knock sensor. Had knock sensor replaced in November, 22. Two days ago exact same problem. Mechanic believes that it's engine malfunction. How's it's covered by Kia recall, otherwise recommends engine replacement, but cautions used engine might have similar malfunction.
