I was turning a corner and as soon as I made the turn, the truck completely stalled. Lights were on and the screen was prompting me to step on the brake and press start even though the gear was on Drive. The gear wouldn't shift to neutral to at least remove the car from the busy street. The dash lights were flashing and as I tried to restart the car, it just made a grinding sound. Almost got hit by two other vehicles. No other symptoms observed other than when on a freeway a few months ago, the vehicle was having difficulty switching to a higher gear in a stop and go traffic. It was stuck at 30mph even when gas pedal was engaged and everyone behind and around were picking up higher speed than 30.

I took my vehicle(2022 Jeep Gladiator)in for service on [XXX] for repair relating to a clutch recall 19A/NHTSA 23V-116, also a second E-Brake repair(previous repair was completed under the 36k mile warranty), oil change, inspection and tire rotation. The part for the recall was order and the replacement part for the recall was installed by Marburger Chrysler, Dodge Jeep, Ram Dealership(Shelby, North Carolina) about a week later. During the test drive by the certified mechanic, the new clutch failed rendering my vehicle inoperable and unsafe to drive. As of today, August 13, 2024, the part to repair my vehicle and fix for my vehicle is not available and my Jeep Gladiator has been parked at the dealership for almost three months. The dealership and manufacturer have failed and been unable to provide reliable remedy for my vehicle. I have been notified by the dealership that a remedy is currently unavailable for my vehicle. I have also contacted the recall center for JEEP and they contacted the dealership on July 30, 2024. The dealership and JEEP were unable to provide a remedy for the fix on my safety recall. The vehicle would not turn over, but the battery came on. The vehicle wouldn’t allow me to turn off the battery and stayed in the position while I waited for the tow truck. By the time the vehicle made it to the dealership they refused to do a diagnostic and attempted to charge me for battery replacement even though it was due to a car malfunction. While the care was glitching the dash displayed messages about the stability control module and transmission were out and malfunctioning. If I were to be driving, the vehicle would have shut down while I was driving.

My 2021 Jeep Gladiator received the 19A Clutch Recall in late June 2024. The recall was issued due to clutch pressure plates disintegrating, blowing a hole in the transmission housing, and causing vehicle fires. Upon return, my vehicle was unable to drive smoothly. After further investigation, I determined that if the clutch and throttle were operated concurrently, the engine would shut off. The engine would shut off anywhere between 1 MPH and highway speed causing issues with operating hydraulically assisted systems (power brakes and power steering). In practice, this led to the engine shutting off between most gear shifts causing a jerky driving condition due to the engine needing to clutch start itself. I did not test how well the steering or brakes worked while the engine was shut off due to safety concerns. While pulling into my driveway, I momentarily lost control of the vehicle when the engine died while traveling at low speed and with the steering wheel turned. I lost power steering and was unable to correct the direction in travel before driving onto my lawn. I returned the vehicle to the dealership and replicated the issue for them. They confirmed the issue was present. The issue was determined to be a faulty ECU flash causing the issue. A revised flash was made available to dealerships 7/12/24 and installed in my vehicle 7/15/24. Component that Failed: Faulty ECU flash Safety: The vehicle's engine would shut off while moving Reproduced by Dealership: Yes Inspected by Manufacturer: No Warning lights or messages: No Additional Info: I have been in contact with other owners with the same issue. This faulty ECU flash seems to only have had this effect on 2021 models. The following is personal input. I hope the irony is not lost on you all that a safety recall fix caused an arguably more pronounced and repeatable safety problem. Additionally, I notified Jeep Cares that this could kill or injure someone and they told me to send Chrysler a letter.

The engine turned off while driving multiple times. Unexpected loss of engine power while at highway speeds forced us to maneuver to shoulder on busy highway in 70 mph zone. The dealership service team has not been able to reproduce the event or confirm it happened. The dealership service team inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings, lights, or symptoms before or after, that would have indicated the engine power loss event to us before or after the event occurred, in any of the occurrences.

On [XXX], traveling at the speed limit of 70mph, crossing from Illinois to Indiana my Rear Locker engaged light came on, on the dashboard. I immediately pressed the disengage button... The warning light came on, flashing, but never indicated that the rear locker was disengaged. I then immediately pulled over the vehicle at a safe location. Where i tried unsuccessfully to disengage the locker... I ended up turning the vehicle off, waiting a few minutes, and then turning it back on. The warning light did not initially turn back on. Three more times on the way back on that day, it did turn back on. The third time it never did turn off. I performed a few tests to make sure the Locker was not actually engaged. However, the system continues to tell me that the Rear Locker is engaged. Even though it is not engaged... I'm concerned that the control system for the Rear locker is compromised and poses a substantial risk to drive on the highway in its current condition. When cresting a hill the sun was suddenly shining brightly into the driver's eyes. When deploying the driver's side sun visor, the hinge broke, making the visor flop loosely down, not effectively blocking the sun, and causing driver distraction. When trying to find a repair remedy online, this appears to be a widespread and multi-year problem that the manufacturer is back-logged on the necessary repair parts. The defect is so widely known and spread, that an after market retailer has developed and is selling repair parts to address this manufacturers safety design defect.

Multiple issues occuring starting (documented) at 22,719 miles (09/27/2022) - stop/start and remote start had not been functioning properly - vehicle died. Required towing to dealer. Both batteries were dead. Upon leaving dealer they had not reconnected stop/start. Fast forward to 05/04/2024 and vehicle once again unchargeable to start. Took warrantied battery back to dealer and they wanted us to tow it there to check. We spent 350.91 to replace ourselves due to a lack of confidence with Jeep. Then on 05/20/2024 took it to a 4x4 center and discovered multiple issues with vehicle from manufacturing and dealer work. To start -- 1) the rear differential pinion seal is leaking 2) the power stearing box is aluminum and showed signs of flex and contact 3) dealer installed lift was incomplete leaving the front axle off center (visually observed about a 3" offset).

Warning lights come up on the dashboard often (brake failure, airbag failure, steering failure, start/stop needs servicing, transmission needs servicing, pullover safely car will turn off, car not in park but it is and won’t turn off) the car turns itself on and off all day. From the beginning the vehicle had electrical issues, not connecting to my phone or Bluetooth, the screen not working, locking and unlocking only working from the key not using the passive entry and having to start the push button by pushing it with the key or it wouldn’t work, it’s gotten progressively worse and now mid drive it will slam to a stop like it hit a wall, flash all the system failure lights then just all the instrument panel lights, it turns on the windshield wipers, the hazards do not work, the headlights start flashing independently etc. it will not turn off or on. It has been towed to the shop twice for this where they replace the two batteries/fuse array and say they can’t get it to happen again but see the codes on the box. It’s spent a combined 140+ days in the shop at this point where I have to fight days to get a rental. The slamming to a stop mid drive is so harsh not only am I almost rear ended but also it’s torn my shoulder forming a cyst that I’ve had trigger point shots and physical therapy for and might need surgery yet they still refuse to buy it back. I have videos.

The factory sunroof on my 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon detached at highway speeds. The springs that hold tension on the clamps that secure the soft top to the frame, unbeknownst to me at the time, lost tension. While travelling down the highway the soft top clamps loosened from a small bump and the wind caught the soft top itself. I immediately reacted, reached up, and tried to bring the soft top back down as I was frantically slowing down on the highway and merging right. The soft top ripped from my hand cutting it open and smashed into the rear of the vehicle. When the soft top smashed into the rear of the vehicle several hinges broke, luckily one was still holding the soft top from completely falling off. This obviously poses a very large safety risk as the soft top could have flown into another vehicle disabling it or much worse; causing injury or death. The problem has been reported by others through online forums and the consensus is that the springs inside the clamps weaken over time leading to this issue. The soft top was not inspected by the dealer or anyone else, they did not care to investigate. The dealer only replaced the soft top after more than a month of waiting for parts to arrive. I have informed Jeep Cares and Jeep Customer Care over the phone; however, they did not seem interested in actually fixing the issue. Jeep instead directed me the dealership only to have the soft top replaced. I am now following up with NHTSA regarding this issue as the other avenues have yielded no results. It should be noted that in my forum post I ended up paying more than the $500 deductible, there was constant confusion between the dealership and insurance, the invoice is attached.
