- #11753788July 30, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On 7/29/2026, the vehicle experienced a critical safety failure involving the electronic transmission shift-by-wire system, resulting in an unintended rollaway after the ignition was turned off. While parked on an incline, the driver depressed the brake pedal and pressed the Engine Start/Stop button while the vehicle was still positioned in Drive (D). The engine shut off completely. According to factory safety design and vehicle specifications, cutting the ignition in this state is engineered to automatically trigger an electronic command to shift the transmission into Park (P). However, the vehicle failed to execute this electronic fail-safe. The electronic parking pawl did not engage, and the vehicle effectively defaulted into an un-geared Neutral state. Upon the driver releasing the brake pedal, the unanchored vehicle immediately rolled down the incline with the engine completely powered off. No audible warning chimes or dashboard fault lights were activated prior to or during the event to alert the driver that the transmission had failed to secure the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V893000 (Trailer Hitches). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the recall remedy consisted of removing the trailer hitch wiring harness. The contact declined the repair because the vehicle had been purchased specifically for the towing capability. The contact stated that the manufacturer had failed to provide an adequate fix under the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and confirmed the information provided by the dealer. The contact had not experienced a failure.

On XXX we were driving from [XXX] to [XXX]. Going through the [XXX] mountains on [XXX]. At an elevation of about 6,000 ft. temperature was about 85, speed about 55 mph the window in the back seat (behind the driver) imploded with a huge bang (sounded like a bomb went off). Glass was all over the back seat. I thought someone had shot at our car. I was with a retired CHP and he confirmed no bullets or rocks - this window just spontaneously exploded sending glass shards like shrapnel in the car! Besides the noise of the explosion, which could have caused the driver to veer off the road, if anyone had been in the back seat they could have been killed or seriously wounded from the flying shrapnel. In talking with other people, I found out NHTSA has an open engineering analysis (DP23001) investigation regarding this issue. This is very serious and should NOT be allowed to happen. Appears there is defective glass in some Hyundai Tucson's - not sure if the pressure of going over the mountains had anything to do with it or the design of the car but I'm leery of driving this car now! Thank you for your time and hopefully the manufacturer will correct this issue ASAP or before someone dies. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11751431July 19, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
This has happened twice now. When going at a low speed, once in traffic, once while performing a U-turn, while braking, the car is trying to accelerate. I have to practically stand on the brake pedal to avoid the car lurching forward. I saw no warning lights on the dashboard. I haven't yet brought the vehicle to a dealer or service center, but it will be.

I own a 2024 Hyundai Tucson hybrid SEL with a genuine Hyundai trailer hitch & trailer wiring harness that were installed by a Hyundai dealer. My vehicle was included in Recall P90. As part of the recall, the dealer disconnected & removed the wiring harness because Hyundai did not have an approved replacement available. As a result of the recall, my trailer lights no longer function. I can no longer legally or safely tow my boat trailer because the trailer has no brake lights, turn signals, or running lights. Before the recall, the trailer wiring worked properly. I contacted Hyundai Customer Care & requested an approved replacement wiring solution at no cost. I explained that the recall removed a factory-approved, dealer installed towing function but did not provide a remedy that restores the vehicle's towing capability. Hyundai advised me that no replacement remedy is currently available & would not escalate my concern. I believe this is an unreasonable lack of remedy for a safety recall. The recall has left my vehicle unable to safely perform the towing function for which it was equipped. I am requesting that Hyundai provide an approved replacement trailer wiring solution that fully restores the original towing capability at no cost to owners. No repair date is given for this repair. Center rear buckle fails to latch. Plastic case separated after normal operation of closing/folding down the rear seat. Buckle case separated from buckle latch. Buckle would latch with plastic cover missing, however would be a considerable risk, as a the retaining bar feature is not captive to the buckle and would separate in use, if used. As well as a pinch hazard. The center buckle was only use a handful of times and is free from contamination/debris. A safety buckle shouldn't fail under normal operation of folding a seat as designed. The seat folding action caused the buckle casing to pop off and separate.

- #11749245July 9, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on three occasions while driving at 65 MPH, the automatic emergency braking system engaged erroneously. While driving at 45 MPH, the failure recurred, but the vehicle resumed normal operation. The automatic emergency braking message illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V316000 (Forward Collision Avoidance). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified, a case was opened, and the contact was informed that the dealer would have to duplicate the failure for repair coverage. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid at approximately 20-25 mph approaching a red light, a sudden and total loss of brake power-assist occurred. Upon applying the brakes, the pedal became instantly rigid and rock-hard. Despite pumping the pedal multiple times and applying heavy manual foot pressure, the vehicle failed to stop, resulting in a low-speed rear-end collision with a stationary car stopped at the traffic light. No dashboard warning lights or malfunction indicators illuminated during or immediately following the event. After the collision, the vehicle's ignition was turned off and then restarted. Following this power cycle, normal braking functionality temporarily returned. The low-speed impact displaced an ultrasonic sensor in the front bumper. This intermittent electronic brake failure poses a catastrophic safety hazard to pedestrians and occupants if it recurs at higher speeds

Anytime I put it it in hands-free control on the highway. Even on the small highway normal strip the car swings left and right. And also when I'm getting off from the highway hello, Francis smells so close and there's a small bump the back of the car is sliding most of the time.

On Sunday evening [XXX] at [XXX] I was returning from Long Beach on the [XXX] home to Los Angeles, when I went under an overpass and my emergency braking system activated with an alarm and red arrow pointing to the left. There was no warning before this event. Then my lane assist stopped me from going over the line into traffic. A few minutes later the same thing happened again. On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, I turned off the highway and came to a stoplight. While preparing to accelerate as the stoplight turned green, I heard what sounded like a gunshot and saw that my entire rear window had spontaneously shattered. There was no external impact which caused this to occur. I have photos of the incident. Although my one year old son was not in his rear facing car seat at the time, if he had been, he would have been at risk of injury due to glass fragments. I was at risk as the sound startled me into breaking when I should have been accelerating with the rest of traffic and it left my interior exposed to the elements. I am scheduled with Safelite repairs through my insurance company to repair the window on Monday, May 18th. There were absolutely no messages or any symptoms prior to the spontaneous shattering of my window. After researching, according to Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP, there is currently an investigation for a potential class action lawsuit regarding an alleged defect of my make and model causing spontaneous rear window shattering.

Hyundai Recall 290 was performed on my vehicle by an authorized dealer. Because Hyundai has not manufactured or supplied the necessary extension cable connecting the new module to the hitch, the remedy is incomplete, and my factory-purchased towing equipment is now entirely inoperable. The Dealer has stated "CAMPAIGN COMPLETE" and has no plans to get the necessary cable.
