- #11531869July 12, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES
While driving, the adaptive cruise control will randomly become disabled and 3 lights pop on: EPB, Auto Hold, and check engine (triangle with ! In the middle). Check engine light will turn off if ACC is turned of entirely. Problem will persist as long as car is on. Once turned off and restarted it will stay off for a while and then come back on. Stays off longer when car has an overnight break but other times it will happen as soon as it's turned on. Cruise control will not work when this issue appears. Picture shows milage but that was May 31st 2023, not the 1st time back in November, 2022. It happened the 1st time after a drive from Lancaster, CA to Pheonix, AZ on the return (about half way)

***2020 HYUNDAI IONIQ TURNS ITSELF ON, WITHOUT HUMAN ASSISTANCE OR MODERATION. HUMAN DOES NOT NEED TO BE IN THE CAR FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, MEANING IT COULD OCCUR 24/7, SANS DRIVER, AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE.*** *Months of random electrical odd events. Example: the car does not know it’s off or Not shifting correctly *June 6, 2023 - 8am - I entered the car and got settled. The steering wheel is locked…it was not like that the last time I was in the car. I turned the car on, shifted to reverse, and the steering wheel remained locked. I couldn’t fix it so I decided to get out of the car and call for service. *June 6 2023 - Attempting to leave the car. Put the car in park, set the parking break, turned car off, and opened door to get out. When my left foot touched the pavement the Ioniq turn itself back on. I thought I had messed up but nope. I took several videos. I could not leave the car bc it would NOT STAY SHUT OFF. *June 6, 2023 - Called Hyundai service. They could do nothing but had service drivers out and I would get a call back, meantime I had to stay inside the running car. I kept trying the ignition button to get it to stay off. FINALLY randomly unlocked the steering wheel so I drove to the service center. *June 6, 2023 - Hyundai has had my car for 7 days without being officially written up and service started. I cannot get an update from them and have no loaner. I will be taking an UBER there tomorrow to check in person.

I brought my Hyundai on November 18, 2022 to Huntington Hyundai at 1221 E. Jericho Tpke., for service to take care of a recall. My paperwork from Huntington Hyundai shows that recall 232 was performed. But in 2023 I began plans to move to Canada and to import my Hyundai into Canada. The Canadian registrar of imported vehicles told me that according to recall records, there is an outstanding recall on the vehicle. Recall 232! I learned from visiting a dealer in Buffalo New York that not Huntington Hyundai never applied to Hyundai USA for reimbursement for work performed on recall 232. Huntington Hyundai failed to even perform the recall that they stated they performed.

Refill Coolant warning light intermittently signals EV battery coolant problem. Hyundai dealer in Fort Wayne, IN, topped off coolant. Andrew service representative was informed of two YouTube videos explaining recall due to defective coolant ASC1 that crystalizes and/or becomes sludgy. Video reported dealer changed old coolant with an upgraded coolant ASC2 number in a Hyundai Ioniq Limited 2020 Electric Vehicle 38 kw like my vehicle. Fort Wayne, Glenbrook Hyundai dealer has very little experience or training with EV vehicles, since they offered to change the engine oil. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUs-YoGTMlw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCt6MEbaXCI are video links apparently from England due to British accent and Chippenham city mentioned in video. USA NHTSA should add this recall to USA Hyundai Ioniq 2020 38 kv EV's. Defective coolant could cause EV battery failure and potential fire due to overheating and electrical short circuits. The Refill Coolant warning light goes off indicating coolant is sufficient, even when no additional coolant was added.

the Hyundai ioniq 5 doesn't turn on its brake lights when you're using single-pedal driving, as shown in this youtube video: https://youtu.be/U0YW7x9U5TQ?t=97 these should be recalled because you can bring the vehicle to a complete stop without the brakes turning on

Just before 3 PM on Sunday, 14MAY, my Hyundai Ioniq had been charging for a few hours as usual and I heard a circuit breaker "pop". I went outside to check on my car, and my car had started smoking. I immediately unplugged the charger and after the smoke cleared, found that both the charger I purchased months ago and the charge port on the Ioniq had melted. This rendered both items unusable. This is available for inspection. If I had not been home while the car was charging, if the car was inside, or if this had happened at any public charging station, this could of course cause any number of issues, from fire, to being exposed to the carcinogens of the burning/smoking plastics of the port and charger. The vehicle has been inspected by a GEICO insurance adjuster as well as Annapolis Hyundai.

This car, along with several other models of Kia and Hyundai, are unsafe due to the ease with which they can be stolen. Hyundai/Kia must recall all of their vehicles that lock proper anti-theft mechanisms in the ignition, steering column, and drive train. Until this is done, all American auto dealers and insurance companies must refuse to sell and insure any new Hyundais and Kias.

- #11517090April 14, 2023VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL
The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 72 MPH with the cruise control activated, the cruise control button became stuck, causing the vehicle to accelerate unintendedly. During the failure, the cruise control could not be disengaged using the cruise control button or while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle would decelerate while depressing the brake pedal; however, after releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle would independently accelerate. The contact was able to stop the vehicle and turn off the vehicle to disengage the cruise control. The following day the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 69,000.

- #11516415April 10, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Stopped in a right turn lane with a vehicle in front of me stopped. It 1as a right turn with a yield sign. The vehicle in front of me started turning and pulling away, I rolled forward at about 8mph and looked left. The vehicle that was in front of me had stopped after beginning to pull away. I didn't notice. I rear ended the vehicle a white newer body style town and country mini van set up with a rear wheel chair ramp like the Braun style vans. My right front of bumper close to the emblem on the hood contacted the left rear bumper of the van. I'd say the whole left side of emblem over to edge of vehicle. No airbag deployment. But the forward collision warning didn't go off and the AEB SYSTEM also did not engage. The system seems to be functioning properly. There is no warning lights on the dash. And the system has activated before, both the forward collision warning and the AEB. The following day while turning around on a dead ened street, the forward collision warning engaged the chime whenni got close to another vehicle. The system has engage early before, the dealer checked for codes a long time ago after complaining about early.or false engagements. The vehicle is stated to be inspected by hyundai this week. The current mileage is 49,000. The vehicle has never been in an accident before this. It is going in to check the electronic parking brake system as we have had faults in the auto hold system where it faults and stops working and a light does come on the dash, but doesn't store codes and resets when you cycle the key off and back on. It's been scheduled to go in before the accident. This system is in place to help stop forward collisions with pedestrians, vehicles and other objects. It failed. It could have injured someone or killed them. I also have dashcam video of the incident if this gets for enough for an investigation, I can email it.

- #11514514March 29, 2023SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On 12/25/21 less than 2 months after purchase, amber color warning lights came on dashboard saying "AUTO HOLD" and "EPB" light up on dash and a chime noise would sound when flashing message lit up. Since warning lights weren't red I understood the feature wasn't working, that it was safe to drive, but the chime was annoying when it came on about once a week. On 8/8/22 I took the car to Selma Hyundai and paid $168 to diagnose the intermittent flashing AUTO HOLD/EPB amber light alerts. They checked functions and said if persisted they would have to replace the left hand parking brake motor. On 9/8/22 I took the car again to Selma Hyundai as the problem persisted, After another diagnosis, they ordered a left rear caliper due to an open circuit. On 10/3/22 after waiting weeks for the ordered part to arrive, Selma Hyundai replaced the left rear brake caliper. On 12/20/22 I returned to Selma Hyundai for another diagnosis as the AUTO HOLD/EPB lights were again frequently alerting on the dashboard. Hyundai factory advised them to order and replace the left rear brake wiring harness. On 1/26/23 after waiting over a month for the part, Hyundai installed the new left rear wiring harness. I was now warned that the mechanic was now seeing codes from the right rear and if the alerts persist, they would have to order the right rear wiring harness. On 2/3/23 Friday evening, I was leaving my apartment with my mother to make a Costco run. Turned the car on and the AUTO HOLD/EPB lights were on and the emergency brake was flashing RED quickly on my dashboard. I turned the car off and back on with the same result. I tried to back out of my parking stall and could feel the car trying to roll back but the parking brake would not release. I tried to roll forward a bit and the parking brake would not release to let me roll. 2/6/23 Monday morning and Selma Hyundai told me to have car towed to them and they would order the right rear brake wiring harness. No wiring harness yet.

My 2019 hyndai ioniq electrical system stopped working and results in the front door claiming that is not open. An internet search showed that this is common many hyundais and in particular the ioniq. The issue with this is 1) there is no way to know how bad this electrical issue, 2) since the door may or may not be open, the risk of the door opening while driving is present, and 3) all other notifications on my dash are no longer usable; i have no way of knowing fuel left, mpg, or any other safety warnings on the dash. Finally, the issue creates a constant beep that does not stop. This is a safety issue seeing as it is so loud, it makes being aware of the sounds around us nearly impossible to hear.

I was in an accident on October 7, 2022. There was almost $5,000 in damage. Repairs were made, but several repairs were left unattended and I am put at risk of safety. The Seat Tracking was out of alignment and could not be verified by mechanic, although it was verified by the body shop. The Forward Collison Warning light comes on intermittently, as do other gauge lights, after the accident.

- #11504345January 30, 2023LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The lane departure keep system has a major firmware bug. When the car is moving along a sweeping right hand turn from the farthest left lane, the vehicle senses that the car is going to cross the lane line to the right and jerks the steering wheel back towards dead center. This throws the vehicle towards the left hand curb. The driver must react quickly to jerk the wheel back to the proper position. This takes a reasonable amount of force that not all drivers may possess. Hyundai dealer service technicians are aware of this issue but can only "detune" the system to make it slightly less sensitive.

I have received a couple of notices from Hyundai concerning a recall for my Hyundai. Here’s been my experience—called Motor World Hyundai (150 MotorWorld Dr Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702). I was told that they didn’t have any parts in but would call me when the parts are in. They insisted on getting my contact information and since have barraged me with sales calls, but no information on “the parts”. After a few weeks, my wife called again, they claimed they have no idea when parts will come in, this person did not ask her name, did not offer to check status, did not offer to call back. (by the way, we tried to buy a new Ioniq last year and while they kept asking us to “come in to test drive” (not sure what we were test driving because they said they didn’t have the car) So, no Ioniq purchase. Our next call was to Dickson City Hyundai, (1519 Scranton Carbondale Highway, Scranton, PA 18508). They indicated a lack of parts as well. We requested they order the parts. They indicated that they require that we go there first (about an hour away) to have the car inspected. If they determine that they should order the parts, then they’ll order them and we’ll have to come back to get them installed. So according to the recall letter, the situation is dangerous, we need a recall done, you’ve notified us more than once, but we apparently can’t get it done without a significant effort on our part. A Safety Recall has been issued on your 2017 Ioniq Hybrid/Plug-In Hybrid’s Power Relay Assembly (PRA). Recall 232 Remedy is Available This notice applies to your vehicle, VIN: KMHC05LC7HU030998 I tried to click on “make an appointment” and it goes to “Page can’t be found” So, I was so happy with my Hyundai I was going to buy another, no test drive, no shopping for other brands but no can do. Now I’m told that I need a recall, but no one is interested in doing it.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq. The contact stated that while attempting to park into her son's parking pad, the vehicle independently accelerated reverse while in the reverse(R) position. The vehicle initially hit a gutter on the side of the house; as the vehicle continued to accelerate, the contact forcefully depressed the brake pedal but to no avail. The vehicle continued to accelerate in reverse as it hit a porch column which swung the vehicle around and off the parking pad. The vehicle then hit a tree as she stood up on the brake pedal which finally stopped the acceleration. The contact immediately placed the vehicle into park and exited the vehicle. Once the acceleration stopped, her son parked the vehicle and informed her that several warning lights and warning chimes had sounded as he parked the vehicle. The contact sustained minor soreness and emotional trauma as a result of the failure but did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed and the vehicle had yet to be towed. Her son's porch column and downspout gutter were damaged as a result of the failure. The manufacturer was notified about the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on her vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 33,500.
