On 6/3/2022 my car stalled in my work parking lot. My coworker was behind me and had to slow down as to not hit me. I took my car to a local Service Station who services our Company's cars as driving to the Hyundai Dealer would have been too far. They told me that it was out of oil. The oil light never went on and there were no oil stains in our garage where I park my car, nor anywhere else where I parked. I had 89,210 miles on my car at that time. Then on October 20, 2022, at 99,666 miles I was driving and it stalled again. Fortunately I was at a stop sign. When I brought it to the same service station again, they said it was out of oil. Again, the oil light never went on at any time to warn me. My VIN number does not come up in any of the Hyundai safety recalls for engine related issues, nor for the extended warranty yet I have the same issues as other engines included in the recall. Additionally they will not cover the repair (my engine needs replacement) as I did not go to a Hyundai Dealer. Yet I went to the closest place when I initially had the issue and I have had bad experiences with the Hyundai Dealer by my home. I had no idea the issue was related to the powertrain warranty or that Hyundai engines had these issues or I would have taken it to a different Hyundai Dealer before the 100,000 mile warranty was up. I know that is not the focus here but rather the safety issue however I just wanted to include that information for what it is worth. Currently, I travel with the risk of my engine stalling if it runs out of oil with no warning due to the warning light never coming on to date. The only recourse is to continually check the oil. This has occurred even in between oil changes. I can provide my Service receipts as well.

When I come to a stop the car randomly shuts off and the engine lights come on. I have to put it in neutral and restart the car. This is happening all the time and scares me. I'm afraid that one day I will have to stop on the interstate and my car dies when traffic resumes putting me in danger.

I am writing to report a recurring issue with my car's electric power steering system. On multiple occasions, the steering wheel has locked up unexpectedly, particularly while making turns. This presents a significant safety concern, and I believe it is crucial to address this issue promptly.

When I come to a stop the car randomly shuts off. All the warning lights come on. I have to put it in neutral and it usually starts right back up. It's happening a lot more often now.

Live in Indiana where the weather is super salty in the winters and all of the salt in Indiana has really really affected the whole underside of my car. The whole subframe is falling apart and the rust has gotten to everything under the car. I have spent about 4 thousand dollars into this car doing all the work myself to make this car run In pristine conditions. I am very very worried that my whole back end will just fall apart going down the road due to the rust.

This is my second time contact and reporting this issue about the vehicle surging unexpectedly and you cannot get it to slow down except by keeping your foot on the brake and pulling off the road. This has happened multiple times since I have had this vehicle. Recently, I had the car in for service and they said they did a recall for the software to stop this condition from happening again. However, 1 month later, it happened and this time it was the worst I have ever experienced as I kept my foot off the accelerator - it surged over 15mph from the speed I was originally at with me doing nothing and it was still gaining. My car was trying to accelerate with my foot on the brake and I had to cross lanes of traffic to get to the side of the road to restart the vehicle. The reason that it was the worst, is that I literally could not begin to control this vehicle. Other times it has happened and I could at least go for a little bit as long as I kept my distance from other cars but this acceleration was beyond out of control. I could have caused an accident or hit somebody. No warnings appeared, no messages or lights.

Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) hesitates when slowing to a stop, then accelerating. The car completely looses power and limps for a second or two until finally it engages and power finally goes to the wheels. Also, the DCT clutch completely failed at 117,000 miles while traveling 65mph on the freeway, and Hyundai won't replace the clutch. Hyundai will only sell a new complete DCT.

My car randomly stalls when driving. I was recently driving the 101 freeway when in the middle of the lane my car stalled while driving roughly 10-15 mph. I noticed in that time my brakes malfunctioned in that when I tried to press on the brakes it did not feel like they were responding. I was able to move over to the shoulder of the freeway thankfully but was panicked an accident was going to happen. I had my car inspected previously in which hyundai said the issues was related to engine coils that had since been replaced and this incident happened after. I currently have my car being inspected by my mechanic to determine possible causes. When the car stalled it flashed the check engine and battery lights on my dashboard.

On Aug 30, 2023 I went to a Germain Hyundai for the usual maintenance of my Hyundai Elantra 2020 where they checked the condition of the belts and it passed. Fast forward Oct 1, 2023 the timing belt snapped and I had it serviced at Hyundai Great Lakes Dublin. I aired out my concern that it is too early for that belt to break since my mileage is only at approximately 25000, while their manual even says that the usual replacement /maintenance for the timing belt. So I urged them to check what caused it to break. Oct 15, 2023 I was driving off of freeway and we suddenly heard the belt snapped again and the car started to slow down on its own. It was a crazy experience as we were in the middle lane and we could no longer control the speed of the car. The Hyundai service center did not take this matter seriously and only recommended that the belts be replaced again. Essentially, I am in so much concern of my safety now given the situation that even the service center did not take time to figure out what is causing the belt to break and not being able to identify that puts me in a traumatic and unsafe situation of driving this vehicle , knowing it could break anytime.

I’ve had my car for about 5/6 months and it’s been broken into twice and was recently stolen. I haven’t been notified from Hyundai dealership about any recalls. Recently I called Ray Skillman where I purchased the car and a man said that there was a recall on my car a few days after I purchased the vehicle. I haven’t received any letters or notification about this from Hyundai and if they did it could’ve prevented me dealing with my car being broken into, damaged, and now stolen .

I have been encountering a series of troubling and erratic issues with my vehicle. These problems occur under various driving conditions, including acceleration, steady-state driving, and braking. However, the most prevalent and problematic occurrences seem to transpire during acceleration and braking. During acceleration, I've observed inconsistent behavior. Sometimes, the car shifts smoothly, with minimal torque drop between gears. On other occasions, the vehicle accelerates initially but then abruptly loses all power between gears, resembling the sensation of someone engaging the clutch in a manual vehicle and shifting slowly. This results in a temporary power loss lasting 1-2 seconds, followed by an over-revving and clutch slip, leading to an unintended surge in acceleration. The issues I've encountered during braking typically begin with a chattering noise and vibrations that seem to be an imbalanced or shocked reciprocating mass, I can assume maybe one of the clutches/flywheel . This is often followed by decreased brake pedal linearity, requiring increased brake pedal pressure to stop. This normally results in an unintended aggressive forward jerk just before coming to a stop, akin to someone releasing a clutch on a manual transmission vehicle too quickly when downshifting while the engine speed is too low. The steady-state symptom occurs less frequently but occasionally involves a momentary loss of power, almost resembling a backfire without the noise. I can only assume that this is related to brief disengagement of the clutches. I sought assistance by taking my vehicle to a local dealership who kept it for a little over a week. Unfortunately, they were unable to reproduce these issues, and no actions were taken to address my concerns. This unpredictable behavior from the vehicle often catches me and my passengers off guard and really makes it hard to trust the vehicle.
