ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
AIS system causes the 2025 Honda Odyssey Elite to stop and fail to restart when stopped at traffic light intersections—the car will not restart which is very scary in traffic with kids in the car. I had starter replaced at a Honda dealership, but the dealer could not say whether it was same part or upgraded part, which means the starter may overheat and shut down again because Auto Idle Stop. This began happening when car was less than one year old.

Stopped at light. Car turned off per the start/ stop feature. Removed foot from brake and pressed gas pedal, car started but brake light came on and continued to flash. Had to pull over and stop before light would stop flashing and go away.

System crackles through the speakers and infotainment system shuts down completely. It may or may not reboot.. Most recently the screen was completely unresponsive, the radio would not turn off manually, and it did not turn off when the car turned off and the door was opened. Occurrence is random. The system may work fine for a few months and then crash multiple times daily and then go back to working normal again for a few months.

The contact owns a 2025 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, however the auto idle did not function as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed battery. The contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The failure reoccurred. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled, and the engine shut off. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle started. In addition, the contact stated that when the auto idle feature was disabled, the failure did not occur. The vehicle was scheduled for diagnostic testing within the next few days. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100.

POWER TRAIN
Vehicle has stopped running multiple times while at stop signs or traffic lights when engine is at idle and not running. The vehicle has to be restarted to go after shutting off while in traffic. It is very concerning when this happens in live traffic. The dealer has had the vehicle for days and were not able to replicate what happened. Asked me for more information on what was being used when it happened. They say they ran tests and were unable to get any codes to show what might have happened. The only thing I have seen was reports that the idle stop feature was unavailable previously. Not sure when that happened? This has happened at least 6 different times, last time being May 8th 2026.

Since purchasing my 2024 Odyssey EX-L I have experienced on multiple occasions where the idle stop engages but upon releasing the brake the vehicle fails to restart, dash lights up and vehicle is shifted automatically into park while sitting in traffic and vehicles moving all around me as well as honking as I am unable to restart the vehicle immediately. I have to push the start button multiple times before the vehicle will restart. Dealership is unable to replicate issue so I just started turning it off. Now the idle stop/start doesn't engage at all even after driving for hours. Additionally the vehicle is very slow to start especially if I have had to start the vehicle a different times throughout the day. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they diagnosed it with a bad starter at only 38K miles which is of course out of warranty. Not only is this a safety issue of the vehicle stalling in traffic but Honda is failing to recognize a well known issue with the starter in this particular vehicle, sticking consumers with hefty repair bills for a manufacturing issue.

SEAT BELTS
My 8 year old child became locked in the seatbelt, the seatbelt would not unbuckle nor release tension, it kept getting tighter and tighter and he tried to get out when it then tightened around his diaphragm and chest making it very hard to take a breath. I had to pull over and ask a store for tools to try and release it but it kept getting tighter and he was panicking. I had three other children in the car and could not take the time to get help without potentially having him go into respiratory arrest. I had to cut the seat belt. My child is terrified of the car, I am terrified this could happen again. I now am down an entire seat due to the cut seatbelt.

I have encountered several instances where the vehicle goes idle at a spot light as expected. However the vehicle fails to restart when letting off the brake. Instead, the vehicle shifts into park. Once the vehicle shifts into park, I am unable to shift into drive. I must restart the vehicle and try en shift into drive. This is extremely dangerous and has happened multiple times. This vehicle is one year old and has 9k miles.

1.The USB port not working in the center console 2.Battery was draining and it was struggling to start, died at lights and barely turned back on 3. Door sensor on passenger side kept saying it was open when it wasnt 4. Air barely working 5. Wind sound whipping through the driver side 6. Raining in to the vehicle on the passenger side 7. Screen barely works, sometimes it takes forever to turn on sometimes it just wont switch or load or it just stays on a black screen 8. After taking it for the who knows how many times for the popping sound they deemed the steering column unsafe to drive and replaced that and they had the vehicle for almost a month because they couldn't get the parts, in that time they even admitted they felt the transmission issues 9. Starter was replaced after complaining for months about it dying at lights or stops and it being rough to start 10. Popping sound from the axle when you go over anything or turn the wheel 11. Back passenger door wont shut it just keeps popping back open 12. Doors dont lock when you walk away 13. Passenger doors will unlock but driver side doesn't 14. The passenger door got stuck and we had to crawl through and push it open 15. Transmission gets stuck and wont go over 30 and the rpms go up but the speed doesn't move, it shifts hard and makes a thud sound, and the engine is crazy loud 16. Has a crazy vibration coming from it 17. Will brake on its own with nothing around it 18. Was switching to sport mode on its own in the middle of driving 19. The new steering column was getting stuck and acting up and it was trying to merge in to the other lane but lane assist off 0. We had an exhaust leak 21. Pieces of trim with vents broken inside 22. Pieces of trim falling off 23. Weather stripping for the passenger back door just fell off, still waiting on them to replace that 24. The fan is extremely loud 25. When putting in to park, or drive you have to really hit the buttons because they aren't switching easy

I have a 2025 honda odyssey, I bought mine with 2 miles on it, it was rhe first vehicle ive owned that was new so we had something safe and reliable and this has been far from it. Engine would not restart after the idle stop at a traffic light. I needed to put the car in park and turn the engine off and restart it. Shortly after this, at another traffic light, the idle stop caused a delayed restart of the engine and caused the vehicle to lurch forward suddenly. This has happened once before as well.

We've been experiencing issues with the Auto Idle Stop feature (the auto restart in particular). On multiple occasions, the vehicle will automatically turn off the engine while stopped in traffic, but will fail to start back up, requiring the driverto manually turn the vehicle off and back on via push button starter (sometimes multiple restarts is necessary to get it moving again). This seems VERY similar to the investigation referenced under - EA25004.

On 3 separate occasions, I have been at a stop light where the auto stop kicks in. When I release my foot from brake, it should auto start. Instead, it stalls out. This is a huge safety issue and has caused cars behind me to get angry and honk. If someone wasn't paying attention, this could cause collision easily. The battery seems fine, and even if it wasn't, shouldn't the battery life be considered when the feature is triggered? I will be taking it in to get serviced, but I'm very frustrated.

While waiting at a red light with foot on the brake, the auto idle stop system shuts off the engine but fails to restart it when the foot is lifted off the brake, causing stalling. The vehicle has to be put in park and turned off completely and restarted before it will drive. This has happened twice, once on 5/1/26 and today on 5/7/26.
