- #11748106July 3, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
While driving my 2022 Honda HR-V, multiple Honda Sensing warning messages appeared simultaneously, including front camera system errors. Features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, and Adaptive Cruise Control became unavailable. The warnings affect important safety systems and also create a distraction while driving. This appears to be the same front camera defect that many other Honda owners have reported.

The contact owns a 2025 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the rear glass fractured, causing glass to fall into the rear of the vehicle. The contact reviewed the back over prevention camera and saw no cause for the glass to fracture. The dealer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the replacement of the rear glass was not covered under recall or warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

I purchased a used 2022 Honda HR-V with approximately 32,000 miles. Upon experiencing severe steering anomalies, a professional mechanical inspection revealed that a non-compliant, off-market/aftermarket steering rack had been installed on the vehicle. This was done without my knowledge or disclosure at the time of sale. This unapproved component presents an immediate safety risk of sudden steering loss, binding, or unexpected mechanical failure at highway speeds. This generation of the Honda HR-V is currently subject to a massive 1.7-million-vehicle NHTSA steering recall (Campaign 24V744) for "sticky steering" and gear defects. While the recall officially targets 2023–2025 models, my 2022 model is experiencing identical low-mileage steering failures. It appears the previous owner installed a cheap, undocumented aftermarket rack to bypass these exact steering defects before trading it in, which the selling dealership failed to detect during their safety inspection.I am filing this report to document an immediate vehicle safety hazard and to urge the NHTSA to expand its current steering defect investigation to include the 2022 model year, as these vehicles are suffering from the same core steering system vulnerabilities.

The contact owns a 2025 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start, and the doors failed to lock. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with battery failure. The battery was replaced, but moments later, after leaving the dealer, the TPMS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven back to the dealer, and a software recalibration was performed, but the failure reoccurred. The next morning, the vehicle failed to immediately start. After the vehicle was restarted, it was driven to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the failure might have occurred due to an alarm failure affecting the battery. No further information was available. The contact stated that while attempting to switch to the left lane, the Lane Departure: Lane Keep feature malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to steer back into the right lane. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 16,800.

I got a "supplemental restraint problem. See your dealer." message on my car's dashboard. My car is available for inspection upon request. The air bags may not deploy in a crash, and this poses a critical safety problem. I haven't taken it to a dealer or independent center yet. It hasn't been inspected by anyone yet. There weren't any lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear.

NHTSA Safety Defect Complaint Vehicle Information: 2022 Honda HR-V Current Mileage: 11,000 miles VIN: [XXX] Description of Safety Defect: I am filing an urgent safety complaint regarding a life-threatening steering failure on my 2022 Honda HR-V, which currently has only 11,000 miles. While driving, the electronic steering wheel intermittently catches, binds, and momentarily locks up. This requires sudden physical force to break it free, causing the vehicle to jerk and creating an immediate crash hazard. An authorized Honda dealership inspected the vehicle and pulled diagnostic code C1420-29 (Main Torque Sensor and Sub Torque Sensor Incorrect Correlation). This exact diagnostic code, physical binding symptom, and component failure mechanism match the identical factory defect outlined in Honda's active 1.7-million vehicle steering safety recall (NHTSA Recall #24V744000). My vehicle carries a rebuilt title due strictly to documented cosmetic rear tailgate damage. The front suspension, front impact zones, and the steering gearbox assembly were completely untouched in the prior incident and remain in original factory condition. American Honda Corporate has formally refused to repair this hazardous defect because the VIN is not explicitly covered under the current production batch parameters of Recall #24V744000, and they are using the branded title to deny out-of-warranty safety liability. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this failure and push for an expansion of the recall population to include 2022 models experiencing identical torque sensor correlation failures. Rear liftgate window spontaneously cracked no signs of damage to the rear of vehicle rear glass was mostly intact but had tempered glass fracturing throughout while car was parked. In terms of safety, glass breaking spontaneously can cause damage to eyes/ect. Police report filed, Dealership denies that it is an issue for the 2024 HRV model only 2023. No warnings, or symptoms just the rear window cracking.

I purchased a brand new 2023 Honda HR-V. Recently, the passenger-side LED headlight assembly suddenly stopped working, and I had to pay $1,500 out of pocket to replace it at a Honda dealer. Shockingly, just one month later, the driver-side LED headlight also completely failed. Having both major LED headlights fail within a single month on a vehicle less than 3 years old indicates a severe factory defect, likely caused by a faulty Body Control Module (BCM) or a voltage spike in the electrical system. This poses a critical safety hazard for nighttime driving. Honda refused to cover it under warranty due to high mileage, but this is clearly not normal wear and tear.

Components of concern: collision mitigation braking system - while driving with no car in front of vehicle, car slammed on brakes - could have caused an accident. Yes, available for inspection. Also, lights went off and said to see dealer (have picture that I'm having issues attaching). Lights that went off were : collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam, adaptive cruise control, some driver assist systems cannot operate (clear front windshield or poor viewing distraction) - all at the same time, even when it's no visible windshield issues. Yes, available for inspection. Want to take to Honda dealership but I'm being charged $80 for a diagnostic when this is a system issue. Not yet

Vehicle Information: •Year/Make/Model: [2022, Honda HR-V •VIN (17 digits): [[XXX] •Current Mileage: 22000 Miles Description of Safety Defect: The electronic power steering system suffers from a severe defect causing the steering wheel to seize, bind, and freeze completely locked while the vehicle is in motion. This binding defect causes a sudden, unpredictable loss of steering control, forcing the driver to struggle with the wheel or wait for the system to loosen, presenting an extreme, imminent risk of a motor vehicle crash, injury, or death. Chronological Incident Summary: Over the last six months, the steering wheel on this vehicle has frozen completely while driving on four separate occasions. The incidents occurred under normal driving conditions at varying speeds. During each occurrence, the steering wheel momentarily locked tight, resisting all manual steering input. The vehicle did not provide any electronic warning lights or dashboard errors prior to or during the failures. Control was only regained after forcefully wrestling with the wheel or, in some cases, safely pulling over to restart the vehicle engine. Manufacturer/Dealer Action: The vehicle was taken to an authorized Honda dealership to address this catastrophic safety failure. However, the service department refused to acknowledge the issue, stating they could not replicate the malfunction and declined to perform any diagnostic repairs. Public Context & Recall Relevance: This defect perfectly replicates the failure mode thoroughly documented under NHTSA Recall Campaign 24V744000 for "sticky steering" and binding gearboxes in 2023–2025 Honda HR-V models. Despite widespread online consumer reports and thousands of matching manufacturer warranty claims for the exact same steering gearbox swelling issue, the dealer has failed to provide the necessary remedy. I am filing this complaint because the manufacturer's denial of this known defect leaves an inherently dangerous vehicle on public INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AC

I had two front wheel studs break at 86 foot pounds after a tire rotation at 10,000 miles. I immediately contacted my Honda dealer who ignored me. I eventually got ahold of the service manager who declined to help with the repair, but did offer a free alignment. The design of the front hubs requires removal of the wheel bearings and hubs. I replaced both front hubs and wheel bearings. Honda did nothing to help. I can find no explanation for wheel studs breaking at 86 foot pounds on a new Matco digital torque wrench. Torque was confirmed with a calibrated wrench. Really questioning safety and quality on this vehicle and Honda ignoring the situation.

My cars had a clunking type noise coming from the front left of vehicle, sounds happens on both left and right turns, and sometimes the steering wheel STICKS. Making a knocking sound and sometimes feels difficult to turn the wheel. I had to have the steering gearbox assembly replaced at cost of over $3015 before taxes.

The vehicle has a recurring safety defect where it suddenly shuts off / stalls while driving. This has happened multiple times, including immediately after the dealership performed repairs and issued "clean" diagnostic reports stating no issues were found. Key details: PCU codes were present on the first visit but were not properly addressed. Repair orders contain clear inconsistencies, including claims of test drives and mileage that do not match the actual odometer readings. On the most recent visit, I did not authorize any further repairs, yet the dealership now claims the vehicle is "resolved" and ready for pickup. The vehicle has been at Honda dealerships for a total of 57 days across multiple failed repair attempts. I have refused to take possession of the vehicle due to the ongoing safety risk of it shutting off while driving.

I got in my car and started driving home from work then I heard something just shatter and when I looked back my rear windshield was completely shattered. I pick up my nieces and nephews and drive other peoples children to their appointments. This could have caused a serious injury should I have experienced it during a time I have little kids in my backseat. I am taking it to Gardena Honda first thing in the morning for an inspection. I have seen other people report this issue on 2023-2025 Hondas and after comparing my windshield to theirs its literally the same. There were no warning signs that flashed it was so crazy.

CVT transmission failed and vehicle lost power while on Interstate I-88 65 MPH speed zone. f Momentum allowed me to reach an exit at which point I needed to push the vehicle by myself off the roadway. Vehicle mileage was slighlty over 60,000 miles and the $10,000 dollar repair was not covered by warranty. Dangerous and costly to consumers! Same CVT was recalled or warranty extended in earlier models.

My wheels will not stay aligned. I’ve had all the property services done to the car, and extra, by a Honda Dealer. I have 8 repair records to alignment on a new car, in under 18 months. Under my state of Virginia laws, only three safety fixes on a car authorize the car as a ‘dud’ and should be a buy back. Honda Corp has in their possession all documents and all notices needed under the law, since November 2025. Honda Corp is not responding. Hello, who holds them to the law? Who is above Honda? It’s been since months since I notified Honda and they won’t follow the law. Who overseas Honda? Hello💻?
