Check engine light came on. Went off a little later and then came back on. Took it to the dealership where they ran codes. They changed the fuel injector and spark plugs based on the codes listed. They heard a noise coming from under the engine and felt like it was the same failure that it happened in the 2021 to 2024 Yukon models those engines had been recalled. Was quoted $15,000 for a new engine was also charged $1000 for the fuel injector and spark plugs.

The engine threw a rod on January 23, 2026. The vehicle stranded me on the side of the road. We called the dealership which they came and towed back to the dealership. No dashboard warnings at all. Oil pressure was good. I heard a low tick to begin with then a slight squeaking noise. After the engine locked it was an abrupt halt with the wheels locking up but didn't come to a complete stop. The noise was very loud after that and that's when I pulled off the highway. The dealership checked it out and did find that the motor needed to be replaced. We just had the SUV in the dealership on October 2025 and they found no need for a new motor, just a change in the oil viscosity.

Noticed a tick sound. Sent to dealer. Lifter failed. Bent push rod. Took it in Nov 24th. Charged $7,100. Fixed all lifters and bent push rod. Was turning around in my driveway and vehicle just shut off. Took it back to same dealer in Jan 27th. Bad lifter. Same push rod. Still in shop. That’s two months and 2,000 miles and had same failure. That is absolutely ridiculous GM and I should be compensated for this. It has costed me $7100 dollars. They are fixing with a two year warranty but if the failures are so close together, who’s to say it won’t just keep happening. Not only is it a safety issue, it is hurting my finances. I drive this vehicle 2 miles to work at 25 mph, and religiously change the oil at 3,000 miles. It didn’t even get an oil change before it failed again. I am not happy and GM needs to be sued for this. I owe 20,000 on this truck and have spent 7,000 already, and it keeps failing. There needs to be a recall for this model year, and it needs to be a permanent fix. GM knows the quality of this motor is horrible and they won’t do anything about it. It’s not safe. They can my truck for $20,000

- #11715405February 3, 2026POWER TRAIN, ENGINE
While driving on a highway, the vehicle intermittently suffers a sudden loss of engine power during acceleration, accompanied by a flashing check engine light. The most serious event occurred while merging into traffic when the vehicle failed to accelerate normally and briefly lost power, creating a risk of being struck by faster-moving vehicles. Pulling over and restarting temporarily restores normal acceleration, but the problem recurs. The malfunction appears consistent with an engine misfire/powertrain fault. An OBD scan has shown misfire-related diagnostic codes (random/multiple misfire and a cylinder-specific misfire). The condition is intermittent and often occurs after approximately 10–45 minutes of driving. The vehicle remains available for inspection. The vehicle has been presented to authorized service departments multiple times. Dealers reported they were unable to duplicate the issue during road testing and no lasting repair has been completed. The manufacturer has been contacted and the vehicle has been evaluated through authorized service channels, but the underlying cause has not been identified. This remains a safety hazard because it reduces acceleration in traffic. Incident list: • 10/25/2025 (~12:25 PM; ~3,108 miles): Loss of power while merging; flashing CEL; restart temporarily resolved. • 10/27/2025–11/04/2025: Intermittent recurrence, usually lasting a few minutes then clearing. • 11/05/2025 (~8:01 AM; ~3,641 miles): Flashing CEL and misfire/loss-of-power symptoms; taken for service. • 11/26/2025 (~10:06 AM): Another episode consistent with the same pattern. • 12/17/2025 (~8:21 AM): Another episode, including during travel to a service visit. • Ongoing: Episodes after ~10–45 minutes; sometimes requires restart to restore drivability. Observed codes: P0300 and P0301. Safety risk: loss of power during acceleration/merging increases risk of rear-end or side-impact collision.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a dripping sound coming from the vehicle, and the low oil warning light was illuminated. The low oil warning light was illuminated approximately every 1,500 miles after an oil change. After each oil change, the level on the oil dipstick was low. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where an oil consumption test was performed. The mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle was consuming approximately 25 percent of the engine oil. The vehicle was not repaired, and the contact was referred to a dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that an additional oil consumption test was needed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

I am writing to report a failure of the telematics module in our vehicle. The module stopped functioning without any warning or notification on the dashboard. Our vehicle has only 64,000 miles and has never been involved in an accident, so this failure is unexpected. This issue has resulted in the complete loss of OnStar connectivity, meaning that automatic crash notification would not occur in the event of an accident. Additionally, we are no longer able to remotely unlock or access the vehicle through the app, as all communication capabilities are currently disabled.

At right under 40,000 miles the engine blew. The GM dealership that repaired my car would never tell me exactly what happened, and they were very sketchy about the whole experience, but it required a complete engine replacement from GMC when the engine quit working.

On 15-Jan-26 (approximately 5 weeks after the vehicle was serviced for the NHTSA #25V274) while doing highway speeds the vehicle suddenly started huffing and loosing propulsion. After the dealership did their initial inspection found that lifters in at least one bank were damaged. The suddenness, the randomness and severity of this unprovoked failure (I wasn’t towing anything or going uphill) combined by the fact that the dealership previously gave this vehicle a clean bill of health makes me have no confidence in the road worthiness of this vehicle.

This report documents two separate safety incidents involving the same vehicle that occurred on different dates. Approximately one month prior to the most recent incident, while driving my young children to school, the vehicle experienced a sudden and severe loss of braking effectiveness while in motion. I was unable to stop normally at stop signs and had to roll through and roll to a stop. I was required to press the brake pedal fully to the floor to slow the vehicle, and even then braking response was significantly reduced and not functioning as designed. The engine remained running and the vehicle could still accelerate. After stopping and restarting the vehicle, braking function temporarily returned. On a later date, while again transporting my children, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while driving. The vehicle abruptly shut down while in motion. I was unable to accelerate and experienced loss of power assisted braking. The vehicle only came to a stop after coasting. Following this shutdown, a burning or melted plastic odor was present. The vehicle was later towed and inspected by a dealership. The battery was replaced; however, this did not resolve the issue. After the battery replacement, the vehicle later hesitated to start again. The exact cause of these failures remains unknown. These incidents occurred without warning and represent serious safety critical failures involving braking and propulsion systems. Both incidents placed my children, myself, and other motorists at risk. Had either event occurred on a highway or heavily trafficked roadway, there would have been little to no ability to safely slow or stop the vehicle, creating a significant risk of collision or serious injury. Due to these events, I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle and have stopped driving it. The vehicle remains available for inspection.

When making a slow turn in drive or reverse the park assist screen shows it’s not working. Then all screens in the car turn black and the steering locks while driving. Making it impossible to turn or move. This is happening while driving, while parking. Putting my safety and others at risk due to not being able to control the steering. Park assist failure screen pops up then all screens turn black. Car is still on just unable to move. I have not had it checked by a mechanic yet.

In 2024, while the vehicle was still under warranty, we brought it to our GM dealer due to an air suspension fault. The problem typically occurs in extreme cold weather, and following that visit, we did not experience further issues during the remainder of that winter as it was never that cold again. However, the following winter the same issue returned and was diagnosed yet again, and this year we are again experiencing the identical problem with the same diagnostic code which has been diagnosed by 2 dealers and a private mechanic in the last week. It has since become clear that the underlying issue was never properly repaired during the 2024 warranty visit. We recently learned that approximately 3.5 weeks after our 2024 service appointment, GM released a service bulletin outlining the correct repair procedure for this exact issue. We were not notified of this bulletin by the original servicing dealer. This information only came to our attention when we brought the vehicle to a GM dealer last week, where the issue was properly diagnosed and now they are refusing to fix it without us paying $4300 even though it was brought to their attention in 2024 while under warranty. A failed air suspension presents a safety concern, not merely a ride-comfort issue. When the system fails, the vehicle may sit unevenly or at an incorrect ride height, which can affect vehicle stability, steering response, braking geometry, and traction—particularly in cold weather and at highway speeds. Because the failure is intermittent and temperature-related, it is unpredictable and increases the risk of loss of control. The vehicle is not operating as designed when the air suspension is compromised. GM knows about this issue as they did indeed issue a bulletin that covers our vehicle and this was done when my car was still under warranty, but it was not brought to our attention that it existed until this year after the car's warranty was up. 2 seal kits, air springs and the struts!

I purchased my 2020 Yukon Denali on July 8, 2024 from Classic Buick GMC in Painesville, Ohio. The check engine light started going on and off a few months after purchasing the vehicle. When I called a mechanic he stated that I should wait until the light is on and then bring in the vehicle. In early May 2025, I took my vehicle to Mike’s Automotive in Middlefield, Ohio after the check engine light began coming on during extended drives (approximately five hours or more). The shop ran a diagnostic scan and advised that the oil pump needed to be replaced. Seeking another opinion, on May 14, 2025, I brought my vehicle to Classic Buick GMC Service, the dealership where I purchased my GMC Yukon. After diagnosing the vehicle, they advised that the check engine light was related to an Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid stuck in the off position (P06DD). This fix would cost $3,584. This fix would require the oil pump to be replaced as indicated by the previous repair shop. On May 29, 2025, I took the vehicle to Avenue Auto Clinic in Painesville, OH, where the oil pressure valve and sensors were replaced. The mechanic also advised that I change the oil every 3,000 miles, use OEM oil filters, and thicker oil. He also advised me to check the oil every 1,000 oil and add as needed. I do have to add oil approximately every 1,500 miles and I change the oil every 3,000 miles. I am concerned that my vehicle has the same engine-related defect as the Yukon engines currently under recall. Multiple mechanics have informed me that my vehicle is equipped with the same engine as those affected by the recall. I am requesting that my vehicle be added to the recall. Yes, my vehicle is available for inspection.
