On 05/30/26, During normal operation of my vehicle (2022 GMC Sierra Elevation) at about 50MPH the Upper Grille Molding became detached while on the Highway. The safety of other cars or motorcycles was placed at risk because the part could have impaled or impacted myself through a windshield or someone driving behind me. The problem has been known to exist in other similar models and an existing recall does exist for those models (N242490120 Chrome Grille Deflector May Detach). On 06/01/26 the vehicle was taken to a Kelly Buick GMC, INC where it was assessed. According to the representative, even though I have not been the only one to report the problem with a different model than that specified on the recall number, they refused to cover the cost of repairs because my VIN does not fall into the recall specifications. Absolutely no other symptoms were noted prior to the part failure no rattling, whistling or any visible signs.

We keep getting an error message that shows we need to service DEF SYSTEM, it also started to limit my MPH and is now locked at 55 MPH. initial check of the DEF SYSTEM shows a malfunctioning module. it has been happening over the last year to 18 months. they would reset it or it would sometimes go away on its own after having to drive it in order for the error to clear.

Model: Sierra Denali Ultimate Engine: 6.2L V8 VIN: [XXX] Mileage at Most Recent Incident: Approximately 52,000 miles Safety Complaint Summary I am submitting this complaint to report a recurring loss-of-propulsion and engine power event involving my 2023 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine. This vehicle has experienced two separate incidents in which it suddenly lost power while being operated at highway speeds. During both events, the vehicle unexpectedly lost propulsion without warning and without any apparent driver input or mechanical indication beforehand. No warning lights, check-engine lights, reduced-engine-power messages, service transmission messages, or other warning indicators were displayed prior to the failure. The vehicle simply lost power while traveling in traffic. During both occurrences, I was forced to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway while rapidly losing speed among surrounding traffic. Once stopped, the vehicle would not resume normal operation until it was restarted. After restarting, the vehicle appeared to operate normally; however, the fact that this condition has now occurred twice raises significant concerns regarding the reliability and safety of the vehicle. Safety Risk This condition presents a significant and immediate safety risk because sudden loss of propulsion during highway operation can leave the driver unable to maintain speed, safely merge, maneuver, or avoid surrounding traffic. The unexpected reduction in speed creates the potential for rear-end collisions, loss of vehicle control, or other traffic accidents, particularly when operating on high-speed roadways. Because the vehicle provided no warning before losing power, there is little opportunity for a driver to take preventive action. The transmission on the vehicle failed, it is currently sitting at a GMC dealership awaiting repair. However the valve body is on back order and there is no time table for repair to occur. My family and my safety was put at risk not knowing that the 10 speed transmission could result in rear tire lockup while on the highway, also the inability to put the truck in reverse to back away from any potential hazard. The problem was confirmed by GMC of Attleboro Mass. The vehicle was inspected by technicians at said dealership. There were no prior warnings, however the truck did feel hesitant to shift on the highway a week or two prior to failure.

The truck randomly will not detect that it was shifted into park. Shifting between gears and back to park does not automatically fix the the issue and has taken up to 10 mins to turn the truck off. The adaptive cruise controls stopped working and can still use regular cruise control. Just not adaptive. It appears greyed out. The truck has thrown the error code: P1098, Engine Coolant Control Valve Position Sensor Minimum Stop Performance. The truck would go into limp mode until the error was cleared. This error has appeared 4 times over the past five months. The most recent date of it happening was today. 06/30/2026

I again have noticed intermittent pulsing at low to medium speeds. At roughly 1k-2k rpm the engine at or about 10-20 mph is pulsating or hesitating with an obvious pulse which you can see on the tachometer as well (bouncing.) It seems like there is either a computer, fuel flow or electric issue. Also, at speeds up to the 40 mph range, this is happening as well. Yesterday while towing a small 7'x12' empty dual axle trailer I noticed it again, I occasionally use my trailer to haul small loads up to 4500lbs. This has happened before but this time I decided to notate this on your site, since reading about ongoing problems with the 2020 6.2L GMC Sierra 1500. I was aware of the other following years, 2021-2024? issues and that is why I purchased this 2020 year model. My truck will be available for inspection when the request is sent to me. Safety was not an issue, I ran my truck most of the day. I have not yet notified my Chevrolet dealer, Roger Dean, Cape Coral, FL. My truck has not yet been inspected for this issue. There were not any lights or warnings on display at time of incidents. Thank you, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The lifters on my 2023 GMC Sierra failed and damaged my engine. The truck has approx 78,000 miles. I do have an extended warranty to 100,000 miles. I got the truck to my GMC Dealer who confirmed the problem was lifter failure. There might be camshaft damage but will have to tear the engine down. It seems like GMC is dragging there feet. It is known the lifters are a problem on this engine but GMC continues to sell them. There was no warning that the lifters would fail. The lifters could have failed while driving at high speeds and the driver could loss control.

After driving my vehicle for a short period of time I stopped to go shopping. When I returned to my vehicle I started it as usual and the check engine light illuminated. I began driving and within 0.25 miles I received an info enter message that stated my vehicle would have reduced acceleration and to please drive safely. My engine fans became noticeably louder and ran the entire trip home (about 15 minutes). After pulling into my driveway I sat in the vehicle and listen to the fans continue to operate. Additionally, my OnStar system, WiFi, and navigation systems quit working. A P1098 Code was returned when using a diagnostic code device. Disconnecting the battery would cause the check engine light to extinguish and for the truck to operate without reduced acceleration; however, OnStar, navigation and WiFi would not work. After shutting off the engine and then restarting the check engine light would once again illuminate and the reduced acceleration message reappeared.

In normal operation on Tuesday May 26,2026, the engine experienced catastrophic failure. The engine is the GM L87 6.2 Liter. This was on a highway in the country and I was able to maneuver the truck off the road before an accident occurred. It did leave me stranded and I was required to get it towed on a roll off (It was not drivable) to the dealer where I purchased it. The dealer [XXX] ) inspected my truck and has informed me that the issues with my 2025 Sierra match the issues for the recall GM had for the model years 2021-2025. It will require a new engine, radiator, among many other parts. There weren't any previous warnings. A check engine light only came on once the engine was engine came apart. An oil change on the vehicle by GM was done a month ago. The truck is a 2025 and has approximately 6,600 miles is all. While driving, the vehicle suddenly began running rough, losing power, and displaying engine warning lights. Due to the severity of the issue, the vehicle was towed to a GMC dealership for diagnosis. The dealership diagnosed lifter failure and a cracked cylinder head. The dealership also documented coolant intrusion, oil/coolant contamination, and evidence of internal engine damage. Repairs were attempted, including replacement of the cylinder head and lifter. After the repairs were completed, the vehicle never left the dealership because it continued misfiring on the same cylinder. GM later determined the engine had a failed piston ring and scored engine block requiring complete engine replacement. The vehicle has approximately 55,000 miles, has been properly maintained, and was purchased new. This catastrophic engine failure resulted in loss of power and major internal engine damage at relatively low mileage. I also opened a case directly with GM Customer Assistance regarding this failure. The case involved multiple escalations after the initial repair attempt failed and the vehicle ultimately required full engine replacement. GM ultimately advised that only partial assistance toward the engine replacement would be provided, leaving the customer responsible for a significant portion of the repair cost. I am submitting this complaint because this vehicle appears consistent with the ongoing NHTSA investigation involving GM 6.2L L87 engine failures and loss of motive power.

While driving on the highway, the steering became much more stiff, and then I heard metallic clanging sounds for a few seconds. The dashboard said press start to start Vehicle. I pressed start while going 30 miles an hour and all lights and instrument clusters went black. I pulled into the grass median where the truck would not start or shift gears. Truck was towed to a GMC dealership

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly and failed to exceed 50 MPH on several occasions. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the message " Reduced Acceleration - Drive With Care" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions, and the OnStar sensors, the fuel injectors and 8 spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who retrieved DTCs: P0747, indicating a pressure control solenoid A stuck on failure, and P0700, indicating a transmission control module failure. The dealer determined that the failure was related to GM Special Coverage Number: N242454441 (Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-Up); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance in adding the VIN to the Special Coverage. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

The truck has a studder that comes from the transmission when at highway speeds. the studder can be felt at random intervals (seconds) from all passengers. The studder is also present on starting up a slope or accelerating from a stop at a slow pace. when accelerating slowly the jerk is more prominent. We have taken it to the GM Dealership, they confirmed the issue was present. The dealership said the GM guidence was to 1st try a re-program and then replace the torque converter. The program flash was unsuccessful, then we paid $4000 to change the torque converter. The Tech stated that this was the GM suggested fix, but noted that we are changing the fluid also which could mask the issue if it is the valve body causing an issue. The replacement torque converter and fluid did somewhat reduce the issue for a short period of about 2 months before it has returned as it did before. The next option from the dealership is in excess of $8,000 for a remanufactured transmission which is outside our reasonable spend, when we dont expect the remanufactured transmission will have any better valve body components. The recent recall did not cover my gas 6.2L sierra 1500, although it clearly is insufficient stating that it just a warning that there is a safety risk present. The valve body of the transmission appears to be an issue across all models and the recall addresses that it is present. We continue to drive this as the primary family vehicle with the hesitation and jerking present as GM dealer offered no support other than $8,000 remanufactured transmission on top of the $4000 we already spent. I believe the recall was insufficent in covering the Gas models with the exact same transmission and known issue. I also believe the offered solution continues to put those driving at risk.
