Recall n242490120 was corrected on 6/10/25. Grill has since blown off while driving ,couldn’t retrieve it, and caused a chip on my windshield. Recall was for front grille deflector. Dear Learship that repaired it said they were only authorized once to repair and it would be out of pocket expense to repair again.

Purchased this 2022 GMC AT4 2500HD in 2022. Drove off the lot and traveled 40 miles home. Got hom,000e and pulled out of my driveway and noticed terrible bump in second gear I believe. Notified dealer and returned truck for them to replace 2 valve bodies. One week later the truck experienced terribel bumps in a downshift fashion at slow speeds, like it's downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear. Returned truck and they replaced transmission. Problem improved some but now with 48,000 miles if your in slow speed downshifting world around 10 mph, it will lock up or hard bump that makes you think you've hit someone in front of you when you're in heavy traffic. It's been doing this at random times since new tranmission was installed. It feels like a lock-up situation. No indicators or messages show up on vehichle. I've made several compaints to dealer with no luck to this point.

I had driven about 30 minutes on the Interstate at highway speeds and had just exited the Interstate and the truck made a horrible noise, shut off, and the transmission threw itself into park at about 10 mph. At this time, the engine did not want to restart, but did eventually and I had a check engine light on, but I was able to move the truck out of the intersection so that I could be towed to the dealership. Prior to the incident, there were no check engine lights and the vehicle had only been serviced at a GMC dealership. I was very uncomfortable with the way the truck stopped and slammed into park. I am happy that no one was behind me, but it could have been bad. The vehicle has not been inspected yet to my knowledge.

The 6-speed automatic transmission (6L80) developed a severe shudder during normal driving. A service center diagnosed the problem as torque converter clutch failure; the torque converter sheds metal debris through the transmission, so the transmission now requires a full rebuild quoted at approximately $6,000. The failure occurred at approximately 92,000 miles in October 2026 (incident date is approximate). This is a widely documented failure pattern on GM 6L80 transmissions. Loss of reliable power delivery from the transmission is a safety concern. No crash, no injuries, and no fire occurred. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

The engine was part of the initial recall for the L87 GM motor and failed its inspection. Ultimately the engine had to be replaced. Since, the engine was replaced everything was fine till recently it starting to make a knocking noise and was immediately taken to a GM dealership for diagnosis. Currently, waiting for final decision on the fix, but preliminary the dealership stating its the lifters or camshaft.

While driving the truck it randomly shuts down, message on dash says shift to park to restart. No check engine light comes on or any other message. When it does this, the truck goes into park. It has been to the dealership 3 times and has not been fixed!

The engine locked up and stalled out while driving. GM replaced engine but still experiencing issues. Dealer has admitted that they will likely recall my model year since it is an ongoing and same issues as recalled trucks. I have a vehicle I am not confident in nor safe it since it stalled while driving.

Engine locked up while driving down the road at highway speeds. Lost all power and had to pull to shoulder of road. Was towed to dealership and confirmed engine locked up and covered under special recall. Was looked at a few months back and passed the recall test on engine. No lights or signs of engine failure before failure.

Engine lost power and is smoking profusely. An independent service center told us there is a problem with one or more of the cylinders. No, there were no warning lamps. It's here, but we can't drive it.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact became aware of an abnormal sound, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The contact inspected the vehicle and connected a portable diagnostic tester to the vehicle. The contact retrieved a pressure fault code. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a torque converter shudder. Additionally, the solenoids were clogged with debris. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 106,554.

Vehicle experienced a complete loss of audio, to include warning chimes, bluetooth audio, radio, and blinker on/off notification warning. This can be a serious issue because without hearing the click notification That your blinker is on, another vehicle may think you are turning and pull out in front of you, possibly causing a serious crash

My 2021 GMC 1500 Sierra has the 6.2L motor that has significant known issues with catastrophic engine failure involving the camshaft and lifters. The engine in my truck has suffered the same failure but for some reason my VIN is not included in the recall of nearly 600,000 GMC trucks. I called GMC Customer Service and was told bluntly the recall was VIN specific and I would have to bear the 14,000 dollar repair. This is unacceptable since GMC is under federal investigation for knowingly and negligently manufacturing a flawed motor.

Recall N262576260 has just come out. My truck has the same symptoms/conditions consistent with the recall. I have a code P0420, check engine light, high oil consumption and loss of power. also, the GM representative i spoke with told me i have an open recall N242450631. it does not show on the NHTSA website and it does not show at the dealer. the high oil consumption has allowed the turbo to damage the catalytic converter and something in the engine to tap due to less lubrication.

- #11772347October 20, 2026ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle jerked and lost motive power. The vehicle was restarted and driven at reduced power to the dealer, where unknown electrical repairs were performed. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was towed to a second dealer, Grissom Chevrolet (181 S Interstate 20 Frontage Rd, Pecos, TX 79772), who replaced the engine. However, the failure recurred, and the vehicle was towed back to the first dealer, who diagnosed that the spark plugs and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. After the dealer performed the unknown repairs, the check engine warning light illuminated when the contact's son-in-law picked up the vehicle. The contact's brother, an independent mechanic, diagnosed that the catalytic converter and other unknown parts needed to be repaired. The contact filed a lemon law claim. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

While driving, the vehicle audio system intermittently loses all sound for approximately 1-2 seconds. During the audio loss, entertainment audio, turn-signal click sounds, and vehicle warning chimes all disappear simultaneously and then return. Vehicle is currently running infotainment software version 662.11. Issue occurs while driving and has happened multiple times. Concern is that loss of warning chimes and turn-signal sounds may reduce driver awareness of safety-related notifications. During complete audio loss (Blinkers, chines, etc), vehicle needs to be shut off for several minutes to recover audio loss.

I was driving 65 MPH on a one lane highway, right when someone went by in the other lane. My front hood moulding (hood trim piece) flew off and hit my windshield. Then drug across the cab of the truck before landing in the road. This debris was now in the road causing other people to have to swerve to miss it. I turned around and put my hazards on and grabbed it from the middle of the road. This caused other motorists to stop in the roadway for me or go into the oncoming lane of traffic to go around me. The service center from the dealership I bought it at said I would have to bring it in for estimate and didn’t confirm if others have had this same issue. This happened one day ago and it has not been inspected by anyone. There was no warnings of any kind. I didn’t notice it shaking prior or anything, it just abruptly flew off.
