I was driving home from family’s house 2 hrs away and got home late. When I got home I noticed the upper front grille assembly or top chrome trim piece for the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate flew off at some point while driving. That could have caused an accident for others and myself but luckily no one is harmed.

My 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 recently started having all the symptoms under GM internal recall number 18289. I lose my power steering briefly and the electronics turn off momentarily. I lose dash, AC, radio and GPS. It comes back on within a second or two and only does this during low speed turning. I ran my VIN but it does not show under this recall despite having the correct Make/Model/Year. It is currently at the shop because it isn't safe to drive and I was hoping I could get a reimbursement for the repairs. NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V586000 (GM's Internal Number: 18289)

My 2022 GMC Sierra started hesitating two weeks ago between the speeds of 17-35 mph. It also hesitates going downhill. When I try to accelerate it hesitates causing a serious safety issue for me driving. I cant trust to move when I need to move across a busy intersection with semi tractor trailers coming at me. I can trust it to tow or haul anything anymore. This is well known and documented problem General Motors has and the company deems it "Normal Operations" which is totally not normal.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact had experienced several catastrophic failures with the engine and transmission. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning, and lost power. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for an engine replacement. On another occasion while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning and the wheels locked up. The vehicle was towed to GMC of Rochester (4646 E Frontage Rd, Rochester, MN 55901), where a second engine failure was diagnosed and the vehicle was repaired under an extended warranty. Upon retrieving the vehicle, the vehicle was hesitating while depressing the accelerator pedal, with the messages "Reduced Engine Power" and "Check Engine" displayed. While attempting to reverse(R) into a driveway, the vehicle became immobile. The vehicle was towed to Red Wing Chevrolet (2500 US-61, Red Wing, MN 55066), and the technician diagnosed the vehicle with total transmission failure. The contact was informed that there was heavy metal debris inside the transmission pan. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to assist. The vehicle remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 12,000.

2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate (6.2L L87 V8 Engine)Description of Safety Defect & Incident Chronology: XXX (49,801 miles): While idling in my driveway, the engine began ticking loudly, running roughly, and ultimately stalled. The vehicle was towed to Hight Chevrolet in [XXX]. The dealership stated they test-drove the vehicle twice while monitoring live data, could not duplicate the noise, and released the truck back to me.XXX (57,920 miles): The engine began ticking loudly again. I returned the vehicle to the dealership. Upon inspection, technicians found metal debris in both the oil filter and the oil pan. The dealership diagnosed a catastrophic bottom-end engine failure.Resolution: The original engine was replaced with a GM remanufactured crate engine, covered under the GM factory warranty.Safety Concern:Although my vehicle is a 2019 model, it suffered the exact same catastrophic bottom-end bearing failure currently being investigated by NHTSA for 2021–2026 GM 6.2L L87 engines. This defect poses an imminent safety hazard, as a sudden bottom-end failure can cause the engine to seize without warning, resulting in a complete loss of motive power and propulsion at highway speeds, drastically increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, despite GM's claims regarding limited production windows, this case proves the defect is present in earlier 2019 model years. Aug 14th, 9:49 pm - Vehicle was placed in park and driver got out. A few seconds later the vehicle started moving forward under its own power towards the driver who was now infront of vehicle walking foward away from vehicle. Passenger hopped over the driver seat to press on brake pedal to stop vehicle. At same time, driver turned around and noticed vehicle moving towards him. Passenger was able to stop vehicle but not before it ran off the driveway and into and over a recreational firepit area. Driver was on opposite side of this. Driver got in to vehicle, verified transmission was now fully engaged in Park, and reversed the vehicle off firepit area. Damage to both vehicle, and firepit ring and landscaping area. Security footage later confirmed vehicle was placed in park, brake lights went out, and vehicle remained stationary for approximately 3 to 5 seconds before driver exited vehicle. It was when driver shut door that vehicle then moved, as if the Parking pin did not engage or failed to stay engaged. Owner traded vehicle in with another dealer soon after, due to other ongoing issues involving the steering and brake system that had not been resolved. Approximately 11,580 miles on vehicle at the time of incident. No personal injuries reported.

The Engine made a noise and it seems to me that this engine will loose power and leave me in a situation that could cause an accident or breakdown in the middle of a bad situation. I don't trust this truck and its engine and i refuse to drive it now.

We were told when we purchased our 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 that all the engine problems have been remedied. Purchased our new truck January 3, 2026 put 2001 miles on the truck went on June 29. The engine suddenly just stopped while driving on the highway. We were able to pull over unable to ever get it to start forced to have it towed to a nearby GMC dealer where it has been ever since were told it had to have a complete new engine put in we have corresponded with General motors on three different occasions we still sit with no offer as we did apply for a lemon law buyback but General Motors continues to sell these vehicles which is very deceptive and misleading as this situation was not remedied in any 25 or 26 models.

Truck died while driving on a major highway due to a faulty fuel pump module. The vehicle was blocking an intersection. The vehicle could not be put into neutral without the engine running because of the electronic transmission. Could not move the vehicle out of the intersection and out of traffic. I found out later that to put the truck in neutral requires a special tool, and going under the truck to engage the bypass, which is very difficult and unsafe on a major roadway.

I bought this truck from a dealer at the end of july 2026 and it only had 27k miles on it. I got the carfax and saw all the times of service and checked that this truck was inspected and went to the new oil type, filter and cap. It also was showing it had the special warranty due to recall. So i assumed everything was good to go and the truck was relaicle. Not even 18 days later and less than 800 miles I broke down mid drive. I was traveling at 45 mph and lost all power and almost caused an accident trying to get over and parked safely. There was no warning light or indication of it breaking down or having a mechanical issue. It went to the dealer and they diagnosed it as complete engine failure due the issue GM is having currently. They did order a new motor and it took two weeks to get in but they are in the process of the engine swap as we speak. I am sure i will get more details this week....but I am concerned now amd honestly wish I wouldnt have bought this truck considering I am seeing reports of new motor swaps having catastrophic engine failure two or three times. So at this point im in limbo waiting for the new install and hopefully it doesnt fail again

Took ownership of this vehicle on XXX. 6.2 motor build date XXX at Tonawanda plant. Currently have 10,600 miles on vehicle. First and second oil changes at GMC facility T&T Coast Buick, GMC located in [XXX] First at 4,441 miles, oil part number 19420077. Second oil change at 8,379 miles, oil part number 19420077 This oil part number is for 5W-30. ACDelco bulk engine oil (Dexos1 Gen2 Full Synthetic 5W-30). The correct oil was not used. From what I have read this is a GM "oil trap" so if there is a problem with the motor GM can deny warranty coverage because the wrong oil was used. I have not adressed this with the dealership yet. If there is a 6.2 motor problem with my vehicle in the future am I going to be denied coverage? I am worried. I also have the extended warranty. Thank you. My truck has the same issues for the transmission and engine problems I have taken it to 4 dealerships and they all say the same thing. The first one I spent about 3 hours there and they changed the 20 oil to the 40 oil and said that will fix the issues but it hasn't i called GMC to report this and they sent me to the others but they said it's been looked at and I know one of them didn't do anything to see the issue.Gmc called the other day and I told them I will let the engine locked up or the transmission keep doing the same thing and they'll have to fix the issue then.I do have 109000 miles on it but thus issue has been going on for 4 years they said I have 150000 miles for the issue but I do t think that is right.I paid them cash money for the truck when I bought it

My wife and I were driving on the highway going slightly uphill. I pushed the pedal a bit because the power wasn't keeping speed. It continues to not maintain so pushed throttle further and the truck stalled. We traversed 3 lanes to get to the shoulder. When I stoped I tried to restart but the car wouldn't turn over but all electrical were working. We were on the shoulder for over and hour on a main highway. We had aaa tow it to the dealership where they confirmed the engine was seized and will be ordering parts. The car is still available upon request. Our safety was at risk from loosing power on the interstate and sitting on the shoulder is very dangerous. I didn't receive any warning lights prior to this occuring. The truck did undergo the peko test and passed and added new oil viscosity. It had roughly 55k miles on it. Always changed the oil before it hit 0% oil life as told by dealerships.

My 2019 6.2 engine suffered from severe loss of compression caused by internal piston ring failure and bore scoring also loss of power . In the 6.2L engine , piston ring failure and ring- seal are direct consequences of connectiing rod alignment errors, My engine failure is proof that this is the same situation that is currently under investigation and have proof with compression test and report done by my Technician . First time it happened to me it just stopped on me in the middle not the road all lights came on the dash including ESC light something it never done before. But before this happened it had been running rough. I took it first to the local repair shop and they wouldn't be able to work on it , So I took it to the local dealer and there it got. worse from there . Took it to the dealer changed the battery and it was running again but they found it had really bad leak on the rear main seal spent over $3,000 for all of it. Thought the problem was over after that months later after it was running rough again took back to the dealer and from there they told me there were oil coming through the piston rings and metal shaving in the engine and from there found out engine needed to be replaced Warranty company would not cover it. I had to pay 1500.00 for rental car coverage, teardown of engine was 3,500 since the extended warranty did not cover it Endurance Warranty Co. denied my claim.Dealership is charging me out of pocket charges of 13,495 for the engine replacement plus engine teardown Endurance Warranty Co. denied my claim. Even after paying for warranty for almost 2 Years. GM says manufacture warranty is out of coverage can not be apart of the recall but engine failure mirrors 21-24 recall 6.2 engines.
