Below 10,000 miles my truck had the master brake cylinder to put which they repaired under warranty. At about 89,000 miles the engine went out stating a misfire on cylinder 2. After talking with GM the vehicle needed all the rods and cam shaft replaced which was almost an $11k repair of which I had to pay almost $5k. The truck still has sporadic shakes while at idle. Many other owners have complained of the same issues. It’s hard to understand that a new truck would have so many issues. The truck was also sold without the chip to heat the seats or the heated steering wheel. These were down afterwards one of them about a year after purchase. We feel GMC should have paid for this repair given all their engine issues. They changed the warranty from 100k miles to 60k miles because they knew these engines have major issues.

I was driving down the highway on cruise control and all of the sudden i heard a squeal, banging noise with no power to accelerate so i pulled over to the side of the road and the engine said low oil pressure and shut down and would not restart. Multiple vehicles swerved to avoid hitting my vehicle creating a safety incident with possible injury and death. No symptoms prior to the failure and vehicle was maintained according to GMC specifications at the dealer with oil changes and tire rotations. Dealer has confirmed engine needs to be replaced but after several weeks they say they are unable to replace the engine because no parts are available and no estimated repair date. This is completely unacceptable and not a timely repair. I am without a truck and still paying for the loan of the truck with interest through GM financial.

Having the same issue as the recent recall on the 6.2L v8 engine failures. This has been an ongoing issue from well before the 2021 and up manufacturing dates according to many online complaints. My vehicle now needs a motor due to complete failure. This came out of nowhere with no warning very recently. It is not drivable and a new motor is not in my budget when I still owe money on the truck. GM needs to step up for the rest of these failures.

- #11657768April 30, 2025FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
The contact owns 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated for approximately a month. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed the high-pressure fuel pump was leaking fuel into the crank case, and the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred approximately 1 year and 5 months later. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, there was a loud sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors on one side of the engine were not working properly, and that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 178,137.

I was experiencing rough gear shifting jumps and low power/acceleration but it was spotty and not continuous. While I was traveling on cruise control, my truck started misfiring. Once I got home the whole truck was shaking in place. I popped the hood and noticed the engine itself was shaking on the motor mounts. On the way to the mechanic, several lights (including check engine light) came on (the codes thrown were P0300-P0308). The mechanic attempted to clean the fuel injectors (that were replaced 30k miles go due to failure as well), but that did not solve the misfire. I was told the cylinder was dead, and upon inspection of the oil filter there were metal shavings throughout it and the engine, as well as a bent cam shaft. All symptoms and issues I've experience, which resulted in a complete engine swap, are similar to those of the 2021-2024 GMC Sierra 6.2L engines that were just recalled. I would like to know how many other 2019-2020 5.3L engines have had failure before 90k due to similar issues and if there is a larger concern here.

I had an engine failure with a complete loss of power while driving on a state highway early on 12/13/24. No lights, hazard lights, nothing would turn on for over 10 minutes, then once started my truck said "shut off engine, low oil pressure". There was a bearing failure that sent metal fragments all through the engine. My truck went into the dealership on 12/17/24 and i received it back with a new engine on 4/18/25. It has the same L87 engine with the same recommended oil as before the recall. I asked GMC to buy it back from me because it's neither dependable or safe after what happened. I was refused without being given a reason.

Vehicle has less than 64,000 miles and seems to be having engine issues. ESC message with engine power reduced. Cannot even drive the vehicle any longer. Cannot get it into a shop for a month and will have to have it towed.

Tried to accelerate and heard a loud pop and the truck didn’t accelerate. Pretty much went idle in the middle of the road. The check engine light, the traction control light, and the ABS light all came on. I would press on the gas and it would rev but nothing would happen till a few seconds later the RPM’s would shoot up and you could tell it was trying to get going but didn’t very slowly and I would hear a clicking noise every time it was around the second gear. It put my children and myself in danger because traffic was heavy with vehicles going 70+mph merging into one lane. Took it to a dealership and they stated it was the the push rod and camshaft were damaged and all 16 lifters should be replaced and camshaft also. No, the vehicle has not been inspected by any of those except a car dealership and a mechanic. This problem first appeared the day it happened and continued after. Even took it to a mechanic and had all 16 lifters changed and problem still persists. Spent over $6,000 on a brand new truck and it is still undrivable because every time you get in to drive it the cylinder #2 misfires.

I leased a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate with the 6.2L V8 engine. The vehicle experienced multiple engine-related issues over time, including stalling on [XXX], and again in early 2025. On [XXX], the engine completely failed while I was driving on the highway. The truck suddenly shut down, forcing me to pull over in a dangerous situation. It was towed to North Bay Cadillac, where they confirmed the engine needed to be fully replaced. They also stated this issue is related to a known engine defect affecting 6.2L engines across GM vehicles. The vehicle has been in the shop for extended periods and is currently undergoing repairs estimated to take over a month. GM provided a loaner vehicle after 12 days, but I remain financially responsible for a defective truck that posed a serious safety risk. No warning lights were present before the failure. I am requesting that this issue be formally documented due to the severity of the safety hazard and the widespread nature of this engine problem. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Bought used 2019 Denali Oct 2024 with 41 k miles on it. 1200 miles later started feeling vibration under load on highway. Took to dealership and they said I needed to replace torque converter. After that the transmission went out during test drive. Then waited 45 days for new transmission to find out the unit was defective. Now we’re going on 5 months and the truck still waiting on a replacement transmission. GM hasn’t acknowledged any of my complaints about this and said that they’re doing the best they can for me and is going to award me 10000 reward points for future use! What a joke! 5. months to replace a transmission? GM has completely failed its consumers, at least this one!

Hello, I wish to report this injury / incident with the failure of the power running boards on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Limited. There are no warning Lamps on the vehicle. The truck is regularly serviced and inspected. The truck recently had a multi-point inspection at the dealer. The power running boards started to come out after I opened my door, as I stepped down, the steps retracted and went back in causing me to fall hard on the ground and smash my knees. Driver and passenger sides are now acting up, even with the truck parked and locked, passenger side wants to go in and out on its own and sometimes extends to the tire. As I researched this problem, I found out that others have had similar issues with the same vehicles that have these power running boards. I removed the fuse now to prevent further injuries.

Truck was traveling through Atlanta when engine shut off and was not responsive. Was able to get truck off the interstate (I285 ramp to I75). Truck would not turn over. Pushed the ONstar button, they stated they couldn't diagnose the truck. They called a wrecker and got truck to a local GMC dealer(Capitol GMC). Truck was approx. 90 mile away from home. Dealer called on Monday 4/21 and stated that the engine was locked up and would need a new engine.
