STEERING
This 2024 GMC Hummer EV has had multiple safety-critical fasteners found loose from factory assembly, discovered across several service visits at an authorized GM dealer. 1. POWER STEERING: Diagnostic code U0131 00 was found - Loss Communication with Power Steering Control Module. Dealer traced the fault to loose ground bolts G176 and G177 at the power steering control module. Technician was able to turn the bolts 1/4 to 1/2 turn to tighten them. This caused a Service Power Steering - Drive With Care warning plus a 4WD Temporarily Unavailable warning simultaneously. Steering physically became harder to turn during driving. GM TAC case 107017705 was opened. 2. DRIVE SHAFT BOLT: Found loose and replaced. 3. ALL FOUR AXLE NUTS LOOSE: On one visit the driver rear axle nut was found loose and replaced. On the next visit one week later, the dealer found THREE MORE loose axle nuts - driver front, passenger front, and passenger rear. All four axle nuts on this vehicle were loose from the factory and had to be replaced as single-use fasteners. Symptom was intermittent loud clunking noises from all four corners when stopping, starting, and braking. Loose axle nuts on a 9000+ lb EV are a catastrophic safety risk with potential for wheel separation. Loose power steering ground bolts caused real reduction of steering assist on this heavy vehicle during driving on public roads. My child rides in this vehicle. The pattern of multiple loose critical fasteners discovered across multiple service visits strongly suggests systemic manufacturing or assembly quality failure on this specific vehicle, and possibly on other 2024 Hummer EVs built in the same window. All issues are documented on official dealer repair orders. Vehicle and all documentation are available for inspection upon request.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VISIBILITY/WIPER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The infotainment system on this 2024 GMC Hummer EV fails during driving in a way that creates a safety hazard. The system controls the rearview camera, drive mode display, turn signal audio feedback, charging and range information, climate controls, and all audible warnings. When it fails: - Screen goes completely black during drives, sometimes for 10 or more minutes. No camera, no drive info, no warnings visible. On one occasion I had to pull the vehicle over because the screen was frozen for over 10 minutes while driving. - Audio cuts out completely including turn signal clicks and warning chimes. The vehicle has to sit powered down for 4 to 5 or more hours before audio works again. - Apple CarPlay freezes and becomes unresponsive. Screen cannot be controlled. The dealer has attempted repairs on this defect at least 6 times across multiple service visits, including a complete radio module replacement in May 2026, multiple software resets, and OTA updates. None has permanently resolved the issue. Written statements on official repair orders from the dealer confirm GM has no fix. One recent RO stated "Condition currently under engineering investigation for permanent repair." Another had "NO FIX AT THIS TIME" written on it twice. The service advisor has also confirmed in writing that GM engineering has no permanent repair available. GM has acknowledged the defect exists on 2024 Hummer EVs through published service bulletins but has not issued a repair. On a vehicle this heavy with cameras, blind spot monitors, and driver assistance systems that run through the central display, losing the display at speed is dangerous. Vehicle and all documentation available for inspection upon request.

VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY, STRUCTURE
The contact owns a 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under Customer Satisfaction Program: N242468850 (2022-2025 Hummer EV Roof & Tonneau Cover); however, the failure occurred a year after the Customer Satisfaction Program repair. The contact stated there was water inside the cabin of the vehicle and the rear seats were soaked. There was water found on the floorboard and dashboard, accompanied by a foul odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the engineers inspected and cleaned the drains and seals. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time, where the drains and seals were cleaned a second time. The failure reoccurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer a third time. The dealer determined that there was mold and an inch of water inside the vehicle, and the wiring needed to be replaced. However, the manufacturer instructed the dealer to stop working on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied a buyback request, stating that debris had caused the failure. The failure mileage was 6,962.

SERVICE BRAKES
During the morning drive, while in one pedal driving mode, the need to apply more brake due to a quick change of traffic lights occurred. The brakes felt hard and the vehicle did not feel like it was stopping as quickly as it normally would. When I parked the vehicle and exited no warning lights or other items were shown on the dash. Once I got back in the vehicle, a MIL light was lit and the "Service Brake Assist" message was displayed. With the vehicle running, it would not move either forward or reverse. Multiple attempts were made to move the vehicle, it was blocking a flow of truck traffic at the business. No movement occurred. OnStar was contacted for road side assistance and a Wrecker was dispatched. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection and repair. Still waiting on what the issue with the vehicle is. I felt my personal safety was at risk for the slow braking/hard pedal and also when parked and the vehicle immobilized.

STEERING, SUSPENSION, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
I am reporting a safety defect involving my 2025 GMC Hummer EV 3X (VIN: [XXX]). On XXX at approximately 18,880 miles, I first presented the vehicle for steering/alignment, suspension, and handling concerns. As of this complaint, the vehicle has approximately 26,840 miles. I have driven nearly 8,000 miles while repeatedly reporting unresolved safety concerns and transporting my two children (ages [XXX] and [XXX]) because I had no practical transportation alternative. Following warranty repairs, including rear control arm replacement, the vehicle developed a severe pull to the right that did not exist before repair. It requires constant steering correction to remain in its lane, and Super Cruise can no longer reliably maintain lane position. Premature and abnormal tire wear has continued throughout the unresolved alignment condition. The vehicle has undergone six warranty-related service events at two authorized GM dealerships. Despite repeated repair attempts and two direct escalations to General Motors requesting repurchase, the only resolution offered has been additional diagnostics and repair attempts. A courtesy loaner was not offered until the sixth service event, after months of unsuccessful repairs, thousands of miles of continued operation, lost wages, and repeated travel. The vehicle also continues to experience water intrusion despite warranty repairs. Rainwater enters the passenger compartment, leaving a persistent musty odor and raising concerns regarding mold, mildew, occupant health, and interior deterioration. I have filed a Georgia Lemon Law claim after exhausting GM’s internal process. I also documented my experience publicly. Posts received approximately 17,500, 48,900, 60,100, and 24,800 views. Many GM owners described similar repair experiences and unresolved INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

POWER TRAIN, STEERING, SUSPENSION
Under full acceleration on flat, dry pavement, the vehicle suddenly pulls hard to the right or left without any steering input. The steering wheel does not move, but the vehicle abruptly changes direction, requiring immediate counter‑steering to avoid losing control. This happens every time under full acceleration and has been confirmed by two GMC dealers. GM Corporate states this is “normal,” but the behavior is unsafe and could cause a crash. Two GMC dealers reproduced the issue and confirmed the sudden directional pull under full acceleration, but both stated it is ‘normal.’ GM Corporate also acknowledged the behavior but claims it is within manufacturing tolerance. The vehicle still pulls violently to one side under full acceleration, creating a serious safety risk.

SERVICE BRAKES, STEERING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While operating my 2024 GMC Hummer EV at a low speed in a school zone, I came to a complete stop at a stop sign and began making a left turn. As I initiated the turn, the steering wheel suddenly locked and became unresponsive. I was unable to turn the wheel back to the right or regain control of the vehicle’s direction. At the same time, the vehicle did not respond as expected when attempting to stop. Because I could not steer or properly control the vehicle, I collided with another vehicle. The impact with the other vehicle is what ultimately brought my vehicle to a stop. During the incident, multiple warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including a message indicating: “Service Steering System.” My vehicle sustained minimal damage due to its height (a bent side step), however the other vehicle sustained damage. Police responded to the scene and a report was filed. I was NOT issued a citation. (see report attached) The vehicle has since been towed to Northwest Hills Chevy/GMC in Torrington CT for inspection by the GMC manufacturer. This incident raises serious safety concerns, as the sudden loss of steering control at low speed could have resulted in significantly more severe consequences under different circumstances. I was in a school zone at dismissal time going to pick up my son. This appears to be a potential mechanical or electronic steering system failure. I believe this represents a serious safety defect that should be investigated to prevent similar incidents.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The frunk latch on the vehicle becomes faulty and does not recognize the hood being latched and secure when it is. While driving, the vehicle without warning will immediately limit speed to 26mph regardless of existing vehicle speed. This has occurred multiple times when driving on the highway with the vehicle immediately decelerating and then saying the hood (frunk) is open. This poses a serious danger to not only the occupants of the vehicle but also those around them on the highway. This occurred when traveling at highway speed in the middle lane. This resulted in the inability to change lanes to pull off the highway due to the drastic reduction in speed in reference to the other vehicles on the highway causing a high stress and high risk situation for the driver and occupants.

SERVICE BRAKES, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
On August 11, 2025, at about 2:52pm, my vehicle was at a complete stop at an intersection awaiting the traffic light to turn green. There was a slight downgrade slope towards the intersection. The vehicle one-pedal driving was enabled. Weather was sunny with no wind or rain. Suddenly, the vehicle started vibrating violently and started rolling into the intersection. I pressed on the brake pedal but the vehicle continued to vibrate and the vehicle rolled into the middle of the adjoining lane of traffic. There was no traffic on the roadway and no other vehicles were affected. My vehicle had come to a compete stop in the roadway and I attempted to accelerate through the intersection but the vehicle would not move. I recycled the power to the vehicle and placed the vehicle into drive and proceeded to drive through the intersection. I do recall that when I was pressing the brake pedal, the vibration felt somewhat similar to vibration of the ABS brake system when the tires are losing traction but the vibration was much more pronounced. I pulled the vehicle onto the side of the road and checked the driver information display. A "Service ESC" notification appeared on the driver information panel followed by "One-Pedal Driving Unavailable Use Brake for Stopping". No other warnings or notifications were observed after this incident and the vehicle seems to be driving normally. I was able to re-enable the one-pedal driving mode the next morning.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
The contact owns a 2025 GMC Hummer EV. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Forward Collision Avoidance System Unavailable" was displayed. The contact stated while another vehicle pulled in front of the contact's vehicle, the forward collision avoidance system and the side-view sensors safety features failed to engage. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed due to a schedule error. The diagnostic testing appointment was rescheduled for a later date. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

SEAT BELTS
On [XXX], my [XXX] son was riding in the back seat of our 2025 GMC Hummer EV (VIN: [XXX] ) and reported his seatbelt felt loose. I pulled over and discovered the seatbelt bracket was completely detached from the vehicle frame. The bolt was present, but the nut that secures the bracket was entirely missing, leaving the belt nonfunctional and my child at risk of serious injury or death in the event of a collision. This is a catastrophic failure of a federally regulated safety system. I immediately contacted GMC and the dealership, explained the issue, and stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Despite this, I was told to drive the vehicle in for service on 6/9. The dealership confirmed the nut was never installed during manufacturing. However, instead of repairing the defect properly using OEM hardware and torque specs, the dealer used a generic lock nut found in their shop and said it “should hold.” No engineer signed off on the repair. There were no warning lights or messages. The issue became apparent only after my son noticed the looseness. The vehicle also has other documented issues: mirror folding failure, seat cushion defect, hydraulic frunk failure, swing gate malfunction (fixed), and a squeaky rear door. All were diagnosed on 2/28/25 and parts were ordered. I received no follow-up. When I returned on 6/9, nothing else was repaired. The advisor said the original technician had left and the new one couldn’t proceed. I also own a second 2025 Hummer EV (VIN: [XXX] ) and am now concerned about its integrity. This experience has caused ongoing emotional distress. GMC’s failure to inspect, respond, or properly repair a critical seatbelt defect demands NHTSA investigation and possible recall. VISIBILITY/WIPER
The windshield wipers do not work. When the wipers are turned on, the spray comes on and does not turn off. You are unable to see as the spray keeps spraying the entire time the wipers are on. I took the dealer twice and they have been unable to repair. They now say are waiting for parts. I can't be the only one. This is very concerning. Luckily I live in Las Vegas and we have little rain. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? wipers and yes How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? You literally can't see if you use the wipers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes been to service twice. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The Dealer only. GM does not seem to care. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning. I turned on wipers when it was raining. Luckily I was close to home. You cant see. Super dangerous.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Super cruise does not work. It may turn on at random for a minute or 2 and then it shuts off with zero warning and the vehicle almost comes to a complete stop. This is a huge safety concern. I took it to the dealership and they told me that this falls on GM 100% as they are being told GMs engineers are trying to find a fix but for now there is nothing they can do, I am to continue driving it knowing this is unsafe. The turn signals and Bluetooth stopped functioning for no reason which had to be fixed Battery charging module burned up at 300 miles. I asked for a buy back and GM refused. I asked for an engineer to come on site and they refused to set it up unless something else is happening as if this super cruise issue isn’t enough. I filed a complaint with the BBB hoping to get the attention of someone who would actually realize how unsafe this is and that same person from GM lied and said I declined assistance. I asked that lady for help and she stated that it would have to wait until something else happened.
