- #11565294January 13, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
On several occasions I have unintentionally pressed the accelerator pedal in addition to pressing the brake pedal. The brake pedal is 2 inches "higher" (closer to the driver) than the accelerator pedal in its full up position. When attempting to quickly place my foot on top of the brake pedal from the accelerator pedal, my foot hits the side of the brake pedal. This issue has resulted in several near-hit accidents with a vehicle in front of me. The rapid acceleration of the Ford Lightning reduces response time to correct the braking disruption. The brake pedal may be placed higher to prevent the driver from also depressing the accelerator when depressing the brake. Other vehicles also have a higher brake pedal, but it feels like an unusually high foot lift is required in the Lightning. There is definitely something unusual about the brake and accelerator geometry in my Ford Lightning.

During a long road trip my truck displayed a message stating that I had a Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power. My truck, while driving, reduced itself to half power. It also would not charge. I was 3 states away from home when this happened. I took the vehicle to my Ford dealership once I was able to get it home. The technician simply cleared a code and said that the issue could not be replicated. Clearly there is an issue. I know several people with the same issue. Frankly, I don't think that I can trust my new truck a significant distance from my residence.

- #11563882January 6, 2024POWER TRAIN, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
For lighting, model came with the quad beam and headlight would often malfunction leaving headlights stuck in the low position and high beams not usable. For power train, the 10 speed would cause sharp jolts and shifts that is not normal for regular driving. Very abrupt jolts that make operating vehicle unsafe to drive in traffic. Vehicle began experiencing these symptoms around 25k miles and dealership mentions these issues aren’t a big problem.

I purchased a brand new Metallic Blue 2022 Ford F150 XLT Supercrew FX4 Off Road edition from Greenway Ford in Orlando, FL on [XXX] I traded in a blue 2014 Ford F150 XLT that I had owned for 10 years and was for the most part, a reliable vehicle that I loved. The odometer on the new F150 read ~124 miles on it at the time of purchase. After several months into owning the vehicle the rear passenger window malfunctioned and would not go up. I took it to Greenway Ford and they repaired it in a day under warranty and I didn’t think anything of it. As we entered the Florida rainy season the truck developed a very faint musty smell. After several weeks of hard rains at the beginning of November 2023, I started to hear water sloshing along the sides of the truck. After inspecting the carpets under the floor mats I found them to be completely soaked. I took the truck to Greenway Ford service center where they informed me that the windshield was not installed properly from the factory when the vehicle was built and has been accumulating water and not draining properly. I'm very concerned that there is mold in the vehicle as it still smells. The ABS sensors were also not calibrated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. Broken bolt in passenger side rear axel. While pulling off the tire the bolt fell to the ground. It is evident it had been broken for quite some time. I think it prevents lateral movement of the axel.

Shifting gears is very hard with it often skipping over gears. When driving the vehicle will jerk or buckle when trying to shift. Transmission is the biggest issue with this vehicle and I seem to have a hard time getting Ford to recognize that.

I placed groceries in my front trunk “Frunk” and they shifted while trying to leave. Once shifted they hit the emergency release button inside the frunk which opened the frunk hood unexpectedly. These should be covered or less accessible inside the frunk.

Axle bolt was shredded off and making a clanking sound while driving. They replaced the axle. Should have gone ahead and replaced both sides because the other axle bolt will also break soon and is a huge liability.

Vehicle started making EXTREMELY loud popping noises from all speakers. This occurred at start up and repeated several times. I turned off the vehicle and did not drive but I’ve now researched and found others with the same truck system’s experiencing the same and some crashes have occurred. There does not seem to be any Ford representative acknowledging the problem so I wanted to report it.

Upon starting my pickup after work a loud static sounding noise was heard coming from the speakers in the rear doors and in the A pillars of the vehicle. I was unable to get the noise to stop even if the radio was turned off. I had no control of the volume coming out of the speakers and it seemed that it was as loud as they could go. The noise was not always constant, sometimes quieting down for 10 to 15 seconds at a time. However, I have a half hour drive to get home and this sound was continuous for the entire drive. The noise was loud enough that I feel hearing protection would be required to operate the vehicle. I drove the vehicle to the dealership where I had purchased it and made an appointment to have the issue resolved.
