ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The horn blows randomly, even when its parked. The car was taken to a dealer (Scranton Dodge) where they replaced the "clock spring"and acknowledged that the problem was not solved, however,they charged $674, and stated they for an additional $1000 would try the TIPM module. They removed the fuse to insure the horn would not blow. Having no horn is a safety violation in PA, as such, the vehicle will not pass the state safety inspection. They would continue to work on the problem but did not know what was causing the problem. In searching the internet I found MANY others with the same unsolved problem. I also contacted Jennifer at 11:47 AM on August 10 at Chryslers complaint department (1800 247-9753) and she stated Chrysler would not accept any responsibility for the problem.

2010 DODGE NITRO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FRONT SEAT ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING WHEEL HAD 3 SMALL HOLES WHERE THE EMBLEM SHOULD BE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN A FIX WOULD BE AVAILABLE.

ENGINE
The EGR valve has to replaced yearly. I have replaced every year since I’ve had it. It causes the check engine to come on and inhibits me from getting the nitro inspected and causes damage to my engine. I have had to replace it 3 times.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The TIPM in these vehicles are faulty and nothing is being done about it by Dodge. There are hundreds of complains across several forums and every time Dodge is contacted about the issue they use the no recall excuse. I have a Nitro myself and it has multiple electrical issues for no reason other than poor manufacturing. The TIPM is the issue and it's not just my Nitro having this problem. My vehicle has accelerated without my assistance, it's had braking issues when there should be no issue. Components that need my action to work have activated on their own, such as... horn, wiper, wiper fluid, accelerator, etc... The wiring in these vehicles are faulty and it needs to be fixed by the manufacturer at their expense. It's time they step up a make it right by the consumer.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated while attempting to refuel the vehicle, the fuel was spilling from the vehicle onto the ground. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

The horn started blowing randomly, Pulled the negative battery connector as recommended to reset TIPM. The horn continued to go off pulled the fuses as recommended. Was told if it kills the battery the TIMP needs to be replaced. That is a common issue for this year model vehicle. Called about a recall the recall is for vehicles manufacturer from 07/17/2011 to 12/2011. My truck was manufactured three days prior to this recall time frame. I believe my vehicle is affected by the faulty TIPM as well. I would like the part to be covered under the recall.

ENGINE STARTED SMOKING WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN PARKING LOT AREA FOR ABOUT 30 MIN. ENGINE WAS OFF. SHE GOT OUT OF VEHICLE GRABBING HER DOG FROM THE BACK. SHE RAN INSIDE THE BUILDING TO GET ME (MOTHER) LESS THAN 2 MIN THE SMOKE GRADUALLY GOT HEAVIER AND DARKER THEN FIRE WAS DRIPPING OUT FROM UNDER ENGINE. I TRIED TO POP THE HOOD THINKING IT COULD GET AIR TO MAYBE HELP THE FIRE BUT IT WOULDNT POP UP. I TOOK FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO ENGINE ALONG WITH SOMEONE ELSE. SHORTLY AFTER THE POLICE AND FIRE TRUCKS ARRIVED. THERE WERE SEVERAL CARS SURROUNDING BUT THEY MOVED BEFORE ANY DAMAGE OCCURED. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING THAT SHE WAS PARKED AT, SOFFIT AND CRACKED WINDOW FROM THE HEAT. THERE WAS ABOUT 20 PEOPLE THAT WITNESSED THE ENTIRE THING. NO PROBLEMS WITH CAR PRIOR TO. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR SUNSHINE 75 DEGREE'S.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V396000 (Air bags, Steering) The contact stated the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact then took the vehicle back to the dealer weeks later where they partially serviced the recall but did not have all of the parts to complete the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Significant amount of fuel spills from tank, down the side of vehicle and onto the ground during refueling. Unavoidable unless stopped at least a gallon prior to filling tank. This requires guessing the amount of fuel the tank can hold based off miles driven and/or fuel gauge readings. With practice I have been able to minimize the fuel spillage on my part but it still happens. I am in violation of state laws regarding refueling and pollution each time there is an incident. Further more, I have had a major safety issue resulting from loaning the vehicle to another driver. Post fill up resulting in said spillage; it was reported to me that a cigarette was tossed from a vehicle immediately after pulling from the pump, hitting the rear quarter panel covered in gasoline. Fortunately it just missed the fresh spill.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
When fueling the vehicle gas will spew out after the pump has shut off. I've tried many different things to try and stop this issue. If I fill the tank very slowly it will sometimes not spew or it may cut down on the amount spewed, but it has not made the issue stop. This really is dangerous and ridiculous. From my online research into the issue, it appears to be common with this vehicle. Although an easy, definitive reason was not given. Please address this. Thank you.

I WAS SITTING WAITING ADD A RED LIGHT GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN MY CAR SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD NOW I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAIDIT WAS THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE ON MY 2007 DODGE NITRO AND I SEE WHERE THERE'S BEEN A RECALL UNDER TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAYBACK IN 2007 AND NOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP GETTINGMY TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE REPAIR AND IT'S DOING ALL THE THINGS THAT OTHER CARS HAVE EXPERIENCE SUCH AS ENGINE STALLINGMY HORN GOES OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHENEVER IT WANTS THERE'S A FAN IT COMES ON AND TURNS ALL MY DASH LIGHTS ON AND RUNS MY BATTERY DOWNNOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP BEING HAVING A TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE REPAIR AND IWANT TO KNOW WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A RECALL THAT THEY ALREADY KNEW ABOUT

IT STARTED WITH ALL DASH LIGHTS COMING ON SAYING IT HAD ISSUES AND THEN JUST STOPPED DEAD IN ROAD. I HAD TPIM PUT IN, THEN ALTERNATOR , AND THEN NEW BATTERY. WAS FINE AND THEN HEAD LIGHTS STOPPED COMING ON . NEXT, IT STARTING WITH HORN, AND EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN COMING ON AND NOT STOPPING. ON 2/11/2021 ME AN MY MOM WAS HEAD TO DOCTOR AT 445AM AND IT WAS JUST RAINING COLD AND WE HIT A PATCH OF ICE GOING 20 MILES AND HOUR AND I LOST CONTROL AND WE WENT ROLLING 3 TIMES AND AIR. BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT RESTRIORS DIDNT RESTRICT AS WE WAS ROLLING SOME TIME IN PROCESS MY HEAD HIT WINDSHIELD AND GOT KNOCKED OUT IT WAS ON A HWY MOVING THEIR WAS NO ONE ON THE ROAD BUT US.. AFTER DEALERSHIP REMOVED THE EMBLEM FROM THE STEERING WHEEL DUE TO THE RECALL, THE HORN WOULD START TO BLOW ON ITS OWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND STAY ON. IT WOULD SHUT OFF AND THEN A FEW MOMENTS LATER START TO BLOW AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIPS ANSWER WAS TO DISCONNECT MY HORN AND SEND ME ON MY WAY. I AM NOW DRIVING IN A VEHICLE THAT WILL NOT PASS THE REQUIRED STATE INSPECTION. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD!! THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT UNTIL THE PARTS CAME IN TO FINISH THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE THIS WAY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!
