The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the speedometer was inoperable with the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wiring harness was corroded from water damage. The mechanic unhooked the wiring harness and drained the water from underneath the hood. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with ABS control module failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

I had a loss of brake lights, tail lights and right rear turn signals while driving. Peeled back the rubber boot over the wire harness on the upper left hatchback door and found 6 broken wires and 5 chaffed to bare metal. Appears that opening and closing the rear hatch over time bent the wires to the breaking point. This could have caused a rear end collision from lack of brake lights and tail lights. Dodge forum shows this to be a very common problem with the Journeys and fortunately I was stopped and warned about the condition before a crash occurred. This is a serious issue and as an LE officer has the potential for deadly rear end crashes.

The vehicle intermittently shakes at about 45-50 MPH. It sounds and feels as if you were going at accelerated speeds over rumble strips. Sometimes this is followed by hard engine thumping. I have noticed during rain and days leading up to rain the issue is more predominant. There are also issues with misfires at idle that is unexplained by several mechanic shops (11 in a matter of 3 years). Because they are unable to recreate any of these issues they are unable to diagnose them. I have been to numerous shops while my car was within warranty and denied any fix due to none of them being able to recreate this issue. Now my warranty is up and the issue still persists even after thousands spent on attempting to get a diagnosis. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! Complete stability and control of the vehicle is lost and WILL inevitably cause a serious incident. In the middle of the highway during misfires the cars ABS and Traction Control lights come on and the vehicle goes into low power mode almost instantly.

Looking back the issue started about one month prior to warning lights came on when I had to brake quickly, but not really "slamming" on the brakes and they seemed to "lock-up". Luckily I had plenty of room between myself and the car in front of me. It never happened again so I thought it was a fluke. Thirty days or so later, I started the engine and everything was fine but after about 20 feet down the road, the brake, ABS, and traction lights all came on. Went back home, turned off the engine, went inside to ask husband to come look and when he turned engine back on and he tried driving it around the corner but the lights did not come back on. The issue continued with the lights going on and go off, when they are on the cruise control is inoperable. We took it to Autozone to see if we could find out what might be going on and we were told that we would need to take it to a Dodge dealership. It took several weeks for them to fit us in, but when they took in we were told it was an internal short in the ABS module and would need to be replaced. We were also told that it would be 3 months before they could even order it. While we have been waiting to safely use our vehicle I have been researching and found that there is a recall on other 2015 Dodge Journeys (R61) for issue with the ABS module for just the reason we are having to replace ours. In checking our VIN, it states that our vehicle is not covered under the recall, but not only am I questioning that should it be and there might be many other vehicles on the road with the issue and they won't know it until it is too late since ours had a scary event prior to warning lights ever coming on. I also do not think we should have to pay over $1,000 for an issue covered under a recall.

Car Engine Started knocking while driving home from work. No Check Engine Lights or warning Chimes, was not over heating. Car made a loud bang and blew out a puff of smoke. Was stranded along side a busy state route. Was towed to a local garage where they informed me that the engine was blown. They showed me the oil pan which had chunk of metal and pieces of a connecting rod in the pan. This car only had 76,000 miles and we have only had it for not even 6 months. Had an oil change 3 days prior to the failure. I’ve been buying dodge my entire life but this will be the last one. It was the family car so It put us in a tight spot. Cant get another car because we owe over $13,000 on the loan which still will have to be paid.

The front suspension and sway bar with all attachments should be recalled. I am not sure if other 2015 dodge Journey users have experienced this or not but since I got my car in 2016 i have had to replace all the parts on 4 different occasions. It is ridiculous and to me is a safety issue.

Replaced all plugs + all coils no effect. additional research found known flaw in earlier years ref: service bulletin and extended warranty (X56) - 3.6L Left Cylinder Head - Select 2011 -2013 Vehicle. Called car manufacturer they referred to dealer saying warranty not extended for 15 year. Dealer states still known issue but cant help roughly 3800 out of pocket to fix. or we can contact FCA to beg them to fix. FCA referred back to dealer. You are my next step.

The differential and the viscous coupler is what I'm having to replace now cause it is bad. The car is not that old and I'm going to have to spend around $3,500 to fix both of these parts. We could have been killed if we were driving the car, it would have locked up and caused an accident. Yes, the dealer said that it could lock up on us and damage other parts causing an accident. No, it hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No, there were not signs and warnings lamps prior to the failure. We took it to the dealer on November 18th and have yet to get it back. We called Chrysler and opened a case. They told us that the only thing they could do is to expedite the part and the dealer has the other one. Chrysler is expediting the differential, the dealer was to get the part on December 9th. The part still isn't here. I have called Chrysler several times and nothing is being done. Today I called and Chrysler is blaming the dealer for telling them they got the part when they didn't get it. Then, Chrysler was trying to blame the shipping carrier with is UPS. I think these parts the differential and the viscous coupler should be recall before someone get killed. Chrysler has known about these parts since 2013 and they haven't done anything about it.

The contact owned a 2015 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at 25 MPH, the vehicle wheels inadvertently locked. The contact daughter depressed the brake and the vehicle slid in the neighbor's yard and crashed into a tree. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact's daughter sustained whiplash, upper chest pain, upper back pain and neck pain. The contact transported her daughter to the hospital, where it was diagnosed that she had sustained soft tissue injuries and muscle strain. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Driving back home on Dec-08-2021; about 2 miles from home I started hearing gear whine noise, only got louder. Pulled over about half mile from home, walked around the car to see if something was stuck underbody. After that, the vehicle would not engage gear when I put it in D or R. I had to press gas hard for the gear to engage, but the car unpredictably engage and would lurch forward and lose gear again. Kept doing that for until I got home. Checked underneath, oil was leaking from the trans pan. The gear would only engage when the gas is pressed hard, but the car would jump as soon as the gear engages.

The problem component is the transmission fluid pump. The issue first started while driving. the transmission started making a grinding noise. the fault code for this was P0868. Our vehicle was towed to a dodge dealership for inspection and repairs. Estimated cost is $1576.84. I have researched this issue and feel this should be considered a recall. Owners should be covered for these repairs.

Headrest just popped open, the 2015 journey is equipped with headrests that open upon impact to reduce whiplash and protect the neck. My driver side one popped for no reason while driving, which can be a dangerous situation if moving or on the highway.
