  Summary

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that are travelling from Canada to the United States. While in the United States they are unable to receive Turn-by-Turn directions. Due to the existing cellular provider not having roaming agreements in areas outside of Canada to support transmitting of the packet data required for Turn-By-Turn feature to operate. The customer has 3 options while traveling through the United Sates. First if the vehicle is equipped with a navigation radio they can request a "Destination Download" to the vehicle. Second if the customer uses the OnStar RemoteLink app they can send the directions to the vehicle. The third option would be to have the vehicle loaded with a "500 phone number" The customer will no longer be able to use their Hands Free Calling minutes when the new 500 phone number is loaded. If a customer chooses to restore Hands Free Calling in the future a new phone number will be assigned to the vehicle; previous phone numbers are not available.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that have excessive oil consumption, blue smoke from the exhaust, or a Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician should inspect the PVC orifice for leaking oil or drawing a vacuum at idle. If the PCV orifice external port is leaking oil or vacuum, replace the camshaft cover assembly. Technician will inspect for a missing intake manifold Non Return Valve that may have damaged the PCV orifice diaphragm. Check for the return valve if it is not visible use a long cotton swab to wipe any excess oil from the valve to validate. If the non return valve is still not visible, then intake manifold removal for inspection is required to validate. When the valve is present reinstall the intake manifold. When the valve is not present replace the intake manifold assembly.

  Summary

14371B - SPECIAL COVERAGE (LABOR CODE REVISED). SOME 2011-2014 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET CRUZE VEHICLES AND SOME 2012-2014 CHEVROLET SONIC VEHICLES WITH THE 1.4L ENGINE MAY HAVE AN ENGINE COOLANT LEAK FROM THE WATER PUMP. THE PUMP MAY LEAK FROM THE WEEP RESERVOIR OR FROM THE WATER PUMP SHAFT SEAL, LEADING TO A DRIP OF COOLANT ONTO THE ENGINE OR ONTO THE GROUND. OVER TIME, THE LOSS OF COOLANT WILL REDUCE COOLING PERFORMANCE AND EVENTUALLY COULD LEAD TO ENGINE OVERHEATING. IF THIS CONDITION IS NOT CORRECTED, THE “SERVICE ENGINE” INDICATOR LIGHT MAY COME ON, AN “ENGINE HOT, AC OFF” MESSAGE MAY APPEAR, A CHIME MAY SOUND, AND THE ENGINE POWER MAY BE REDUCED. IF THE CONDITION OCCURS WITHIN THE SPECIAL COVERAGE TERMS,, THE WATER PUMP WILL BE REPLACED IF LEAKING.
