The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that the passenger’s side air bag was faulty, and the lifter had collapsed since the vehicle was running on 4 cylinders instead of 8 cylinders. Chevrolet has KNOWINGLY AND WILLINGLY placed a dash in my 08 avalanche that is dangerous. The truck has a TK airbag and Chevrolet refuses to fix the issue CORRECTLY. The dash is cracked, as most GM products from 07-13 are, and now the airbags need to be replaced. The dealership advised me that it would come apart, and that I would need to spend 2 grand to have it repaired. GM told me on a recorded phone call that they have had several of these reports and that they do not have a "documented solution" for it. They told me I have to choose between the resale value of my truck or the safety of myself and passengers. They are at fault for the dash, as well as the TK airbag. GM refuses to do anything to make it right after their shotty work.

SERVICE BRAKES
Stopping, from between 5 and 10 mph, after a small drive - like a few yards.. the anti-lock brake engaged, made a pulsing / ratcheting noise and the brake pedal vibrated -- but the truck did not stop. I could not press down on the pedal any harder, and the truck took SUBSTANTIAL distance to come to a stop. --Dry road. -- I also have an ABS light on the dash from time to time.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- My dashboard has had a large crack in it for some time now and I am needing it to be repaired as I am not the only one with this issue. - The dashboard is considered the cover for the instrument/control panel of my vehicle. It is not in good shape due to this crack which would cause a greater hazard should the air bag deploy and cause the dash to send pieces of plastic flying everywhere. - This problem has already been brought to GM's attention in a lawsuit. - It has been inspected by myself and other passengers in the vehicle and a cause for great concern since I have no idea why the crack even appeared after having taken care of my truck very well since the first day I've owned it. - No warning lamps that I am aware of but then again, not sure if issues I've faced since owning it are due to this crack.

I purchased the 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche new in October 2009. While in warranty I noticed the dashboard was cracking and took it to the dealer, Four Stars Auto, in Henrietta, Texas. At that time I was told they would order a new dash board and replace it. I took the truck in for replacement of the dash board on the scheduled date. After the truck was out of warranty the dash board cracked again in the same place. I suspect the dash was repaired and painted and not replaced, but I have no proof so I did not contact the dealer. Since that time I have learned this has been an issue with other owners of GM trucks and nothing can be done about it other than replacing the dash, which is a very expensive repair for someone that is retired and on a fixed income. My dash board has now cracked in at least four places and seems to be getting worse. I have heard this could cause issues with the deployment of the airbags, not to mention diminished resale value.

I received a letter back in Feb of 2021 advising us about the passenger airbag recall. I was to wait until parts come in from GM. After months of waiting, and confirmation of others that already got the repair done, I went ahead and scheduled the recall replacement with GM themselves, which in turn set it up with Ron Norris GMC in town. Even though I set this up a couple weeks ago and have received text and email confirmations reminding me of the appointment, I just received a call from Ron Norris, I was on the way to their dealership to have this recall taken care, telling me GM does not have the part for my truck and did not give me any more information about it. This is a serious issue and I have given them plenty of time to have it replaced. You ordered them to do this and after months they still do not have parts, they are dragging their feet on something that could kill the passenger of my vehicle. Could you please push them to get the part as I do not feel safe having a passenger ride in my truck now. If something happens I will hold you and GM responsible for the delays.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 21V052000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

Having alot of issues with the drain tubes especially with the front top tubes my floor boards are being soaked. The tubes are plastic so when and why for the drain tubes and how often should they be really be changed. The seal above driver door and passenger door in front are not always put in correctly or they move causing the water to cross over and pull into car instead of exiting. And the ac plug also problem. Certain years do not have the cabin filters .The engine light is very sensitive as well.

I AM CONCERNED DASH IS SO BRITTLE ANY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WILL CAUSE THE DASHBOARD TO SEPARATE INTO PIECES AND BECOME SHRAPNEL. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST CRACK STARTED APPROXIMATELY IN NOV 2011 AND NOW HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE CRACK HAD EXTENDED TO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG HOUSING. THE LOCAL DEALER HALEY BUICK GMC AIRPORT LOCATED AT 5500 S. LABURNUM AVE, RICHMOND, VA 23231 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

DASHBOARD HAS 5 LARGE CRACKS 4 LATERAL AN 1 VERTICAL TOP FRONT SPEAKER HAS FALLEN OFF CLIPS.VEHICLE DASHBOARD STARTED CRACKING WHILE JUST SITTING OVER TIME AND WHILE DRIVING ROAD VIBRATION HELP CRACKING CONTINUE I'M AFRAID THAT WITH THE CRACKING SINCE IT IS IN THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AREA AS WELL IT COULD CAUSE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY CAUSING MORE DAMAGE INJURIES TO PASSENGER OR A WRECK BY SUDDENLY GOING OFF AND CAUSING DRIVER TO SWERVE SUDDENLY.
