UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE
I am reporting a recurring safety issue involving unexpected stalling and loss of propulsion in a 2022 Buick Encore GX. In February 2026, the dealership replaced the vehicle's transmission with a rebuilt transmission. Since then, the vehicle has continued to experience sporadic stalling and drivability failures over the past eight months. It has been brought to the dealership at least six times since February for inspection and repair. Despite these efforts, the problem continues. Most recently, on October 20, 2026, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled while my husband was driving in downtown Boston. It had to be towed to an impound facility and, after retrieval, was towed to the dealership, where it currently remains available for inspection. There were no symptoms and no warning lights prior to the incident outside of the months of similar sporadic incidents. The vehicle has spent more than 25 business days at the dealership since February. Despite the rebuilt transmission replacement and repeated repair attempts, the stalling issue remains unresolved. It goes without saying that unexpected stalling and loss of propulsion pose a serious safety risk, particularly in congested city traffic and on busy roadways. Sudden loss of power can leave the vehicle stranded in traffic, prevent safe maneuvering, and increase the risk of a collision. The dealership has repeatedly inspected and attempted to repair the vehicle, including replacing the transmission, but the problem continues. I have also submitted a complaint with GMC. I request that NHTSA investigate whether this recurring failure represents a safety-related defect affecting this vehicle or other vehicles of the same make and model.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, POWER TRAIN
At 15,000 miles the check engine light came on while going to a store. At the store, the vehicle was put in park and tried to shut off engine. The dash said "shift to park". Took to the dealer, was told sensor went out on transmission. They said it was the electronic controle module. They didn't think that was part of the drive train warranty. When I looked online I found many other Buick owners complained of same issue. Posting online that they are slamming shifter into park up to 20 times to get sensor to register that it is in park so they can shut vehicle off. I feel it is a known buick problem and gm doesn't know how to fix so they won't issue recall. If you can't shut the vehicle off, the engine could over heat, not to mention run out of gas. And if people are slamming the shifter in and out of park to get vehicle to shut off an accident could occur in a parking lot or street if the sensor cannot read the shifters position properly. What if the sensor senses improperly on the freeway, is my vehicle going to come to a sudden stop on the freeway? General motors has let this gone on too long.

EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL
The contact owns a 2022 Buick Encore. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the emissions warning light illuminated and hot air was coming from the A/C unit, despite the A/C cooling setting being activated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the purge pump and an unknown part needed to be replaced, and loose bolts in the A/C caused Freon to leak. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,586.

CAR BEGAN GIVING AN ALERT THAT SAID "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY IN PARK BUT CAR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. I CALLED BUICK CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP & HAVE THE PROBLEM CONFIRMED WITH THE SERVICE DEPT. & THEY WOULD OPEN A CASE FOR ME. (THEY DID NOT TELL ME NOT TO HAVE IT FIXED). I KNEW THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS ISSUE, YET NO RECALL AS OF YET. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM (AS LISTED IN THE LAWSUIT). I HAD TO PAY $503 AFTER THEY GAVE ME A $100 GOODWILL DISCOUNT. I CALLED BUICK BACK TO EXPLAIN THAT I HAD THE CAR FIXED AT MY EXPENSE (I HAD NO CHOICE-THE CAR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF) & ASKED HOW TO GO ABOUT BEING REIMBURSED FOR A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME A DISCOUNT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT CAN BE DONE. I ASKED ABOUT OPENING A CASE & WAS TOLD THAT SINCE MY CAR WAS FIXED, THERE IS NO CASE TO OPEN. I HAVE ASKED TO HAVE MY CALL ESCALATED TO A SUPERVISOR & AM STILL WAITING ON A RETURN CALL. I HAVE TO ASSUME THAT SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL, THE SHIFTER WAS REPLACED WITH ONE THAT WILL MOST LIKELY FAIL AGAIN. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ONE YEAR. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THE PARK SHIFTER FAILURE. AND I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR HAVING TO PAY FOR IT.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
6/4/26 Took to dealer and stated that the check engine light was on and car was running sluggish. Had stopped at Autozone and their scan showed the code P0102. The dealer charged me 259.00 to do a diagnostic showing the same thing. 6/26/26 Back to the dealer with the same problem and now they stated they replaced the Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger and Install Vacuum Tank Kit. I had the vehicle back for few days and while I was driving, the lights came back on and the car went from 58 to 23 mph within seconds. I would have gotten hit if I was on a major interstate. 6/30/26 Had to have the vehicle towed in because at this point it would not start at all. They stated that the code for mass air flow and lean condition. Replaced mass air flow sencor. On the second invoice along with telling them before, I had also told them about the car when I would try to put in park to shut off, it would ding and light would say..shift to park. I have to turn it back on and mess with the shifter to get to shut off. Stated it would cost me 800.00 which I cannot pay at this time. Another issue that I have had since I bought the vehicle is that my phone has to be deleted and added every time I start the car in order for it to work for maps or phone calls.

POWER TRAIN
The vehicle has less than 60,000 miles. Sometimes, when it is shifted into park, the info center states that it is not in park. I have to jiggle the shift or shift it into other gears and go back to park. The shift is definitely in park when this happens.

POWER TRAIN, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I have a 2022 Buick Encore GX with 34,200 miles and I put my car in park but the dashboard said Shift to Park. I tried several times to put it in park but it wouldn't recognize it was in park. The car also wouldn't cut off. I reversed and went forward and back several times trying to put it in park, but it wouldn't see it was in park. I called the dealership and they said jam the gear shifter really hard forward and it would recognize it until they could see the car. The only appointments they had were 2 weeks away. I can't use my car for 2 weeks. That isn't right. It shouldn't have done this at 34,200 miles! Also if the computer doesn't think it's in park then it could roll and hit and injure a child, another car, people etc. GM/Chevorolet shouldn't build cars with known problems. This is a serious Safety issue. The car isn't safe.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Answer: I only have 34,200 miles on my 2022 Buick Encore GX and when I put my car in park, I get a warning message on the dashboard telling me "Shift to Park" but I am already in park and my car won't shut off. Why at 34,000 miles? 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Answer: What if the car thinks it isn't in Park and starts rolling hitting a child, another car, or building? 3.Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Answer: Yes, and it is a known issue with the make and model car I have a 2022 Buick Encore GX but no Recall has been made. This is dangerous and needs to be a recall. 4. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Answer: A "Shift to Park" message comes up on dashboard even though in the bottom right corner it has a P that it is in park. The computer doesn't recognize it's in park.

POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
For the last week or so, my car, a 2022 Buick Encore GX Sport, that I bought brand new and currently only has 30,000 miles, does not acknowledge being in Park when I park the vehicle and try to turn it off. This causes the car to remain on and radio playing and it beeping that it needs attention and to shift it to Park. if you try to close the door, it honks letting you know the car is still on, and pushing the shifter forward, trying to ensure it is all the way in Park does not resolve the issue. Restarting the car and trying to move it in a different gear either way (forward or reverse) and putting it back in park does not resolve the issues either. This is very frustrating and now I am worried about the car rolling or even having transmission issues since you have to restart and try to wiggle and finagle the shifter just so to finally get it to recognize it's really in Park. I did a recall search and have not found any recalls, I called the Dealer where I purchased it and they stated they have had to replace many shifters in this make and model and as a matter of fact where working on one at the time of my call and therefore did not currently have any parts available to correct this issue on my car. This is my only form of transportation and I cannot afford the estimated quote for this repair when parts do finally come in. What's the point in having a car that doesn't shut off?!?!?!

I get an error "shift to park" when I put my vehicle in "park" and shut it off. It goes into accessory mode and beeps. If I try to leave the vehicle, it will honk to alert me about the issue and I can't lock the vehicle and it stays in accessory mode. To alleviate this issue, I have to put the vehicle in reverse for a few feet and then drive forward and put it into park again, which can take many, many attempts to finally get the error to stop. This could be a safety issue if I have passengers trying to exit the vehicle while I'm attempting this maneuver. It is also a safety issue for those walking behind me in a parking lot because it takes so many attempts, it increases the chance is that I miss seeing someone walking behind me.

ENGINE
2022 Buick Encore GX its involvement in the following critical issues: 1)especial coverage N242484750 turbo replacement not cost. Recall A222379711 (ECM Oil Pressure Sensor software)Malfunction. – A known issue where the Engine Control Module (ECM) fails to properly clear the permanent status of DTC P0521 (Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Performance). Turbocharger Failure – A separate cause-efect related defect in which the turbocharger in my vehicle has failed, a Check Engine Light (MIL) activation/deactivation and a reduction in engine performance(*screen critical message.) resulting in a loss of power and critical malfunction that need replacement 3)Failure of GM and the Dealership to Provide Proper Documentation – Despite GM authorizing and the dealership supposedly completing only the recall software update. I have not received the necessary official documentation or compliance certification that the repair was performed, which is required by my state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for emissions and registration purposes.I was not noticed recall GM’s Improper Denial of Warranty Coverage for Turbocharger Failure – GM has refused to cover the turbocharger replacement under warranty, especial coverage N242484750 citing that my vehicle has a salvage title. However, my past accident only caused exterior damage and did not affect the engine, it passed DMV and all state verifications, accident has not relation or affectation with turbocharger, or any mechanical components related to this recall. If the turbo failure is a result of this recall and a factory defect, GM extended coverage at warranty and is still responsible, regardless of the title status. 2. The Relationship Between ECM Oil Pressure Sensor Issue & Turbocharger Failure exist cause sending incorrect amounts of oil to them While GM has treated these as separate issues, there is strong evidence to suggest that the ECM oil pressure issue directly contributed to the premature turbocharger failure.

2022 Buick Encore GX - Reported this already via #11618957 or 9-13811484283 with Buick. Shifter and connector were stating "Place car in park" even when car was turned off. Radio would not shut off & would continue to beep. The part was on back order for over 1 month. Car could not be driven. Transmission light would be on display. Friday, Nov 29th received call part was finally in. Car has been fixed HOWEVER since this is not a recall the monies are coming out of my 87yr old fathers acct. This car only has 24,000 miles. I'm told by dealer unless a recall we have to pay. The dealer, Sid Dillon in Blair, NE had many cars with this same issue. The shifter & connector were bad. Is there a way a recall can be done on this issue? Trying to escalate this within GM as well. Thank you
