My dashboard VIN plate was destroyed when the windshield was being replaced. I’ve been trying to get Audi to send me a new VIN since October 23, almost 6 months ago. They assigned an executive case manager 2 months ago but that’s accomplished nothing. The vehicle is out of compliance with federal law without a VIN plate and I cannot trade or sale the car. Please help me.

Component/System: Engine. The vehicle was destroyed by fire but the remains are available for inspection depending on insurance/salvage status. Safety risk: Around [XXX] on [XXX], my 2023 Audi Q5 began smoking as I was exiting the vehicle with my [XXX] daughter and then caught fire and was completely destroyed. This created an immediate risk of serious injury or death to me and my child. I live across from a park and there were many children and families nearby who were at risk as well. Dealer/service confirmation: I just learned of recall 15ZK (loose cylinder head cover screws/oil leak fire risk) after the fire. I never received a recall notice despite owning an affected vehicle. Inspections: The incident was responded to by Silver Spring/MCFRS Fire Station 19 along with local police on April 12. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by my insurance company. They are expected to send an inspector on April 13. Prior warning symptoms: I recently noticed a fuel/burning smell originating from the front of the vehicle. The smell was detectable from outside the car after driving but was not present inside the cabin. No warning lights appeared on the dashboard. The smell persisted for several days prior to the fire without resolving, consistent with the oil leak described in recall 15ZK. Vehicle: 2022 Audi Q5 VIN: [XXX] Current Mileage: 60,221 DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring all-wheel-drive (AWD) system defect on my 2022 Audi Q5 that has persisted despite a prior repair performed under the factory warranty. SYMPTOMS: I have been experiencing the following symptoms primarily during tight turns, U-turns, and low-speed maneuvering such as in parking lots: - Jerking and lurching of the vehicle during turns - Grinding and clunking noises from the drivetrain during turns - Vibrations felt through the vehicle during turns - Symptoms occur at both low speeds and highway speeds REPAIR HISTORY: Approximately 1.5 years ago, while my vehicle was still under the Audi factory warranty, I brought my vehicle to an authorized Audi dealership for the exact same symptoms. The dealer performed an AWD fluid drain and refill per Audi Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #2059057, which specifically addresses AWD clutch noise and vibration during turns on 2021-2023 Audi Q5 models. The dealer indicated the issue was resolved. RECURRENCE: The identical symptoms have since returned. My vehicle is now out of its factory warranty period. The dealer has not provided a permanent fix despite following the manufacturer's own TSB procedure. The repair performed under warranty has clearly failed to resolve the underlying defect. SAFETY CONCERN: The jerking and loss of smooth drivetrain control during turns, particularly at low speeds in parking lots and during U-turns, represents a safety hazard as it affects the driver's ability to maintain predictable vehicle control. This issue is especially dangerous in situations requiring precise maneuvering such as parking, merging, and navigating tight spaces. ADDITIONAL NOTES: - Audi TSB #2059057 acknowledges this as a known defect affecting 2021-2023 Q5 models - The same repair has failed to provide a lasting fix - Multiple owners of 2021-2023 Audi Q5 vehicles have reported identical INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
My vehicle has now experienced a serious electrical malfunction a few times, including one again today. Each time, the car suddenly loses power and drops to 40 mph, the steering wheel shakes, and all warning lights come on. This is extremely dangerous and puts my safety—and the safety of others—at risk. The Car is Brand new and has about 1200 miles. I took the car in previously, and the dealership admitted they do not know how to fix the issue. Despite this, when I called again today after the problem happened, they refused to take the car in. At this point I do not feel safe driving it or having anyone else in the vehicle. This is severely impacting my daily life and mobility. I need immediate action and a resolution to this unsafe situation. I only get run around when I call Audi Fletcher Jones and my service adviser does not resolve my issue. They don't let me speak to the General Manager and they don't give me his email address. Attached are two photos. I have a video which i can submit per your request.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I owned the car for two weeks when I had my dog in the front and it automatic braked going down the freeway. It threw him into the screen and broke it, luckily he was ok. (He was belted in.) This has happened three more times and been inspected but they are not able to reproduce the problem. This only happens when the dog is in the car with me. This last time, the dog hit the dash and screen again and broke it, and I had to pay to have it replaced again. (Thankfully dog just fine.) They keep saying no fault found because they can’t get it to do it on their test drives. This is a serious safety issue and could cause an accident by someone rear ending me. The roads aren’t wet, and nothing is around when it has happened each time. They turned down the presensor this time, so i am hoping this helps.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The ADAS is not working properly. Adaptive cruise control, emergency assist, lane departure, active front assist, distance warning, traffic sign recognition, adaptive light, etc. are all not working. The check engine light is illuminated, the key fob would not open car (not a battery issue) and the seat belt tensioner is not working properly. Those ADAS features are there for a reason and that is to enhance the safety of me, my passengers and other drivers. The key fob allows quick access to my vehicle, which enhances my safety when alone or with others. The seat belt tensioner provides restraint during an accident so neither I nor my passenger will go head first into the windshield, air bags and/or steering wheel/dashboard. The problems have been confirmed with the dealership. Yes, it has been inspected by the dealership. Yes, they first appeared January 2025. My car is currently at the dealership supposedly waiting for a backordered seat belt tensioner. It has been at the dealership for 22 days and I haven't any idea of when I will be getting the vehicle back. I purchased it in October 2025. It has been driven less than 5,000 miles.

Check engine light is on almost constantly on my car. It might turn off and stay that way for a couple of days, but always comes on again. Dealership had made two attempts to "fix" it by just clearing the faults. However, according to the service department the reason why check engine light came on was "faults for loss of communication to powertrain electronics and brake electronics" which i think is a real safety concern. After my last trip to the dealership the check engine light came on after just two days of normal driving. There was also a situation when i was unable to shift to park with the risk of rolling along with some other error messages on the dash. I was unable to lock the vehicle because of that and of course there was a risk of it rolling.

The contact owns a 2025 Audi Q5. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the panoramic sunroof glass exploded without impact. The contact pulled over at a pit stop to inspect the vehicle. Despite the failure, the contact resumed normal driving with shards of glass falling from the sunroof. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and agreed to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

The vehicle triggers the braking system when there is nothing in the road, this has happened when turning across traffic, into parking lots, and when just driving on a road. Luckily this has not caused a crash yet but it has a high likelihood of causing a crash if not properly fixed by Audi. Occasionally the sensors stop working and the seatbelts tighten aggressively. This is especially risky because my wife is pregnant and this tightens for no reason around the baby. This has happened many times in the short time I’ve owned this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2022 Audi Q5. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was started, and the message "Electrical System Malfunction – Stop Safely" was displayed. A red warning light flashed and then turned yellow. In another occurrence, while on the freeway, the vehicle accelerated independently, and the collision warning light flashed with a beeping sound, although there were no vehicles nearby. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure due to invalid data that was received. The contact was informed by the dealer to avoid driving the vehicle when the red light was illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000.

After the automatic start/stop system engages, the engine stalls and completely shuts off shortly after the vehicle begins moving again. This occurs after the vehicle restarts and travels only a few feet. When the stall happens, the vehicle loses power and the engine stops functioning while the car is in traffic. This has occurred two separate times: once on a busy highway and once while entering a roundabout. Both incidents created a dangerous situation where the vehicle could not maintain power in active traffic and could have resulted in a crash. A yellow emissions warning light also appeared on the dashboard. The dealer indicated that an intermittent oil pressure sensor code was present but no parts were replaced and no corrective action was taken. The dealer reset the system and stated they could not reproduce the problem. The vehicle is now being returned to me without repair despite the safety risk. An engine stall immediately after the start/stop system restarts the vehicle creates a serious hazard because the vehicle can lose power in the middle of traffic. I believe this issue may be related to the automatic start/stop system or an oil pressure sensor fault affecting engine operation.

While driving my 2022 Audi Q5 on Interstate I-35 at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly applied braking while traveling on a wet roadway. The braking felt unexpected and the vehicle lost traction and control. The vehicle skidded and struck a concrete barrier. The side airbag deployed during the crash. Fortunately, my family survived the accident. I am unsure whether this event was caused by road conditions or a possible malfunction related to braking, stability control, or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), but I am reporting the incident for safety review.

The air bag keeps showing it's not working and that's it's turned off, there's a driving system malfunction, and warning lamp flashing emissions-related fault malfunction are not working. It is a brand-new car and after 2 months, all the malfunction lights keep showing so we went to the Audi dealership and they said they have ordered the parts from Germany, but it has almost been 2 months, and they still don't know when it will arrive.

The contact owns a 2021 Audi Q5. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. Additionally, the windows independently rolled up and down, and the engine seized. While attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the failure had occurred three times within five days. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was purchased. The failure was diagnosed with a failed gateway control module. The contact was informed that the gateway control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The contact was informed that the plastic protective bag that covered the gateway control module was filled with water. In addition, the dealer informed the contact that the NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V947000 (Electrical System, Structure); recall repair was performed prior to the contact purchasing the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 37,200.

The contact owns a 2022 Audi Q5. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, there was a loud bang, and the sunroof glass shattered, with glass falling inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was determined that the sunroof glass had shattered on impact with a foreign object. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost and remained at the local dealer. Upon further inspection, there was no evidence that an object had caused the sunroof glass to shatter. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
