- #11758078August 19, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Vehicle performs a complete stop in the middle of a drive on the freeway. I loose sight of where I am going due to this sudden break, without knowing the UNKNOWN OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN. The vehicle has been inspected by Audi dealership over four times for this issue, in which they are not resolving this problem and stating nothing has been discovered by the scanner. The only message followed by the immediate breaking is ,"Emergency Assist: Cancelled". I have been denied a buyback two times because it's not considered a "repair". They are not taking my situation and safety concern seriously and I am hopeless.

- #11749728July 11, 2026BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The MMI infotainment head unit reboots spontaneously and repeatedly while the vehicle is in operation. The screen freezes, goes black, and restarts, reliably within 7-8 minutes of completing the previous boot. This repeats continuously for the duration of any drive. I have verified this is not related to a connected phone. I tested with three different phones on three different operating systems, and with no phone connected and powered off entirely. The reboot cycle occurs identically in all cases, whenever the vehicle is running. The critical safety failure: if the vehicle is placed in reverse near the time of a reboot, the crash disables all Parking Assist functions. The rear backup camera becomes fully inoperable while the vehicle is actively backing up, and the side cameras are sometimes lost as well. The Parking Assist system, including the backup camera, remains offline until the vehicle is shut off and left sitting for 15 to 30 minutes. There is no warning before this occurs. This means the federally mandated rear visibility system can and does fail without warning during the exact maneuver it exists to make safe. I have video documenting the backup camera being disabled while reversing. The vehicle has been to the dealer for these concerns. A software update was performed per Audi TSB on 3/27/2026 (RO 356075) and did not resolve the issue. The vehicle was diagnosed again 7/1/2026 through 7/9/2026 (RO 361320) and the dealer was unable to duplicate the concerns at that time. The reboot behavior has since become continuous and reproducible.

The contact owns a 2024 Audi A5. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the parking brake actuator was replaced; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the brake pedal was loose while depressed. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, where the parking lock solenoid (N486) was replaced; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the loose brake pedal failure. No additional repair was performed. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer a third time and the Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587) was replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been driven since the third repair, and that the contact was fearful of driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and the case went to arbitration. The manufacturer's lawyer informed the contact that the failure was due to normal transmission wear and tear. The failure mileage was 22,916.

- #11746731June 26, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I am reporting a severe, systemic, and undiagnosed electrical defect that compromises vehicle safety and control. The manufacturer’s authorized repair facilities and corporate Technical Assistance Center (TAC) have explicitly documented that their factory test plans are "inconclusive" and they cannot isolate the root cause of the failures. The primary symptom is the catastrophic failure of the climate control/defrost system, which intermittently stops cooling and blows hot/ambient air. Dealerships have repeatedly replaced the physical AC head unit (E87), replaced high-pressure switches, and performed battery capacity discharges to clear persistent diagnostic trouble codes (DTC B131207 and B10AE22). Because these hardware replacements fail to fix the issue and the system continues to drop out, the defect lies deeper within the vehicle's central electrical architecture or wiring harness. Additionally, the vehicle has exhibited erratic, un-commanded behavior. After parking, turning off the vehicle, and walking away, the vehicle spontaneously started running on its own without any input. The dealership was unable to find stored codes for this event, indicating the vehicle’s diagnostic system is failing to log critical electrical malfunctions.A vehicle that spontaneously starts itself poses an extreme risk of carbon monoxide poisoning in residential garages, as well as a runaway or theft hazard if a deeper electrical short commands the transmission to engage while unattended. The manufacturer has exhausted its standard Technical Service Bulletins (TSB 2078655/3) and multiple corporate TAC cases (#3667725 and #3686882), ultimately releasing the car back to me each time. I am at a loss for what to do because this car is dangerous, they don't know what is wrong with it, and I am being forced to drive it.

The contact owns a 2025 Audi A5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45-50 MPH, the vehicle suddenly decelerated without warning to approximately 20 MPH. The contact activated the hazard lights and safely maneuvered the vehicle onto the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle remained stopped for approximately five minutes before restarting the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally, and the contact was able to drive to the residence. The contact notified a dealer of the failure, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The dealer found no faults, software issues, or mechanical failures with the vehicle. The contact was unaware if the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a certified letter regarding the failure was sent to the President of Audi; however, no response was received. The failure mileage was approximately 881.

I am writing to formally report a serious and ongoing issue with my 2022 Audi A5 involving multiple component failures. Most recently, both front windows suddenly stopped functioning and would not roll up, leaving my vehicle fully exposed. As a result, my car was subjected to rain, causing water intrusion and damage to the interior of the vehicle. This issue is especially concerning given my prior history with this vehicle. Since purchasing the car, the sunroof has already required repair twice within the past two years. Now, I am experiencing a complete failure of both front windows. This pattern of repeated issues raises serious concerns about the overall reliability and quality of the vehicle. I rely on my vehicle daily to transport my children and manage my responsibilities. Due to this failure, my vehicle is currently not secure or usable in normal conditions, which has placed me in a very difficult position. Additionally, I have been informed by an Audi technician that this is a known issue with Audi A5 models. Given that this defect has been acknowledged, it is extremely concerning that no preventative solution or recall has been implemented to protect consumers from this exact situation. This failure is unacceptable in a vehicle at this price point and presents a risk for further damage, including potential electrical issues due to water exposure. I am requesting that Audi of America take full responsibility for this matter and provide coverage for: Repair of the window system Any resulting interior or electrical damage caused by water intrusion A thorough inspection of the vehicle to ensure no additional damage has occurred I would also like this issue formally documented as part of any ongoing investigation into known defects affecting the Audi A5. Please provide a prompt response with next steps toward resolution. I can be reached at your earliest convenience.

- #11725698March 19, 2026TIRES
Audi A5 Quattro Purchased new 06/2025. Dealer = Audi Lakeland 1215 Griffen Road Lakeland, FL 33805 Phone: (863) 284-0880 Contact = Service Manager Gary Downey Tire = Bridgestone Turanza LS100 235/45R18 98H REO (Extra Load) Run Flat Tire Tire also includes “Enliten” - don’t know if that is part of model name Brought vehicle in to Dealer for first oil change at 9,006 miles on odometer. Dealer inspected tires and reported both front tires were Red/32” and 2 rear tires were yellow at 5/32”. At 9,000 miles, this is obviously grossly premature tread/tire wear. For front tires to be unsafe to drive at fewer than 9,000 miles is unexpected and others need to be made aware of the risk of premature tread/tire wear to avoid dangerous blowouts that could result in accidents and injury. Feel lucky to have brought vehicle in 1,000 miles early for oil change and for Dealer to have detected. Dealer replaced all 4 tires at no cost and tires are being shipped to Bridgestone. I have Dealer service technician video showing tire/tread wear but was unable to download here — perhaps due to length. Happy to forward if you want it.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? TRANSMISSION - GEAR SHIFT How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? THE CAR STOPPED SHIFTING GEARS AND WE WHEN THE CAR INSTRUCTED US TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY IT WASN'T A SAFE PLACE TO STOP THE CAR. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? SO FAR AUDI NOR THE DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. ONLY THAT THEY SEE PIECES OF METAL IN THE TRANSMISSION LINE. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER HAVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION WARNING CAME ON TWICE AND TAKE YOUR CAR TO THE NEAREST REPAIR FACILITY WARNING CAME ON ONCE.

- #11707412December 28, 2025AIR BAGS, SEATS
The passenger side air bag indicator constantly turns off and on in my Audi no matter if there is or is not a passenger in the seat. I took my vehicle to an authorized Audi service center to have the issue checked and they determined the issue to be a failed pods mat based on the error code returned. Upon researching, I’ve discovered that this issue was a safety recall issue with Audi A5 Sportback vehicles in 2020. My vehicle was manufactured during the time of this particular recall and the issue appears to be indicative of this recall. The recall was safety recall code: 74E3.

13 Jun 25 2100 hrs - Auto went thru multiple of errors and transmission would not go into gear, electric door locks released all emergency pull handles and car was not able to move. Called Audi Emergency Service. Tried to get out of vehicle and door could not be opened from inside the vehicle. I had friend come and get me out of vehicle by me pushing on the inside and her pulling the emergency pull. DANGEROUS! Emergency Service could not come to tow vehicle for three days because of being on an Air Force base and no tow companies that Audi contracted with had a realID or a clean criminal record. 16 June, Audi finally finds company to tow vehicle, at that point vehicle had completely died and could not be jump started. Car towed to Audi Service. Car in service for three weeks and I was told it was just a bad battery. I took vehicle with doubts of repair and for the next four months car would pop multiple software errors specifically on driver assist, no sound, dash going completely blank while driving, etc. The next major electrical failure was on 17 Nov, once again car would not start nor could it be jump started by tow company. Car once again towed to Audi on the same day. Car in service until 23 Dec and Audi said it was related to TSB 2079690/4 and they have stated that the KD2 should resolve electrical issue with driver door module constantly running and killing car. One day later, already popping driver assist errors. This car is dangerous and Audi knows that this KD2 is a band-aid on a software system that is unreliable and still has no permanent fix. I fear being stranded on a highway and either being stuck in my vehicle and can't get out or not being able to get in car if I get out to try and open hood to check vehicle, I might not be able to get back in because of electric locks.

- #11701394November 25, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Audi’s wireless charging pad in 2021–2024 A4/A5/Q5 models: •Overheats the phone •Triggers a thermal radio throttle •iPhone temporarily disables Bluetooth hardware •Audi MMI sees that and throws: “Bluetooth function is currently unavailable.” •Wireless CarPlay collapses because it needs Bluetooth + WiFi Direct •Audio goes dead along with it This EXACT sequence is documented across A4/A5/Q3/Q5 forums and Audi service bulletins. The pad is the culprit — not your phone, not the car. When bluetooth and apple car play shut down, so do directions which causes driver to scramble to find phone and follow phone screen which distracts drivers and causes accidents. It happens every time you use the tray after 5-20 minutes. Very scary for older drivers. Would like NHTSA to pressure Audi into a recall and fix the pad at Audi's expense. I bought the car to use the wireless charger, not have to work around it. And it is exceptionally unsafe.

I was driving down the interstate when my Warning Transmission Failure light came on. Then another message said you can drive with limited use if vehicle. Seconds later the Warning Transmission Failure light came on again and said drive to your nearest repair shop. Moments later the Warning came on and said safely stop your vehicle. I pulled over on the side of the road and pit my car in park. After doing so the Warning Transmission Failure stayed on and the car no longer would shift into any gears. The car never overheated or stopped running. I had to get the car towed. My car has been in the shop for 3.5 weeks and no one can tell me what's wrong with it.

- #11667977June 19, 2025WHEELS
In mid May, 2025 I noticed at slow speed, a loud thumping noise was coming right rear of car. I brought it to the dealer on May 19, 2025. I was told to wait for analysis of the problem. After about two hours, the service advisor informed me that the mechanics had found and repaired a malfunction in the All-Wheel Drive mechanism. I was told that the car was safe to drive. Within a few days, I noted that the problem was back. I made a service appointment for June 17, 2025. The dealer kept the car for two days. At the end of that time, the service advisor informed me that the Audi All Wheel Drive system requires fluid at very high temperatures in order to function properly. According to him, I am the cause of the problem because I do not drive distances far enough to "heat up the fluid" enough to make the system function properly. He further said that the AWD system will not function properly unless I drove 20-30 miles. How does one stop if the drive system is out of control???
