SummarySupersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 40 number 10-10 dated September 10, 2010. Light cracking or rubbing noises when steering. The noise emanates from the front suspension strut mounting. The complaint occurs most often when the vehicle is maneuvered at slow speeds (e.g., parking) or when the steering wheel is turned while the vehicle is not moving. The noise is not caused by extreme load on only one suspension strut (e.g., slowly driving uphill while turning the steering wheel).

SummaryWe would like to inform you that the FAQ for Service Action 20U3 has been revised to include additional information for dealers to share with customers about the misfueling guard. After the 20U3 campaign has been performed, please take some time to explain the misfueling guard to your customers, using the information in the FAQ as a guide. Please also ensure that dealership personnel are familiar with the information contained in the FAQ, so that they are able to answer any customer inquiries that may arise. As diesel engine passenger vehicles become more popular, auto manufacturers have seen an increase in the number of misfueling cases where diesel engine vehicles are mistakenly fueled with gasoline. The resulting fuel system contamination can lead to costly repairs that are not covered under warranty. As an additional safeguard to help prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from being used to fuel a TDI® Clean Diesel engine vehicle, dealers will install a misfueling guard in the fuel filler neck of vehicles affected by this action. Additionally, a new fuel filler neck cap will also be installed. Please note: The misfueling guard is designed to prevent a gasoline fuel pump nozzle from entering a vehicle?s fuel filler neck, thereby reducing the risk of fuel system contamination from gasoline. Even with this inhibitor installed, remind anyone who refuels the vehicle that it requires diesel fuel, and to double-check the fuel pump to ensure the correct fuel is selected before filling the tank.

SummaryThis condition may be caused when the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are depressed simultaneously. Drivers who consciously or unconsciously drive with their left foot resting on the brake pedal are prone to experience this condition. With the introduction of Electronic Power Control (EPC) (no accelerator cable) to fuel injection systems, an engine RPM control feature has been incorporated into the engine electronic control system software. As a result, application of the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time (brake pedal with left foot and accelerator pedal with right foot) results in the following: ? Brake pedal function (normal at all times) overrides any throttle application. ? Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will not be stored. ? When the brake pedal is applied while the accelerator is depressed, engine RPMs will return to idle speeds of 1400 RPMs after approximately two seconds. ? When the accelerator is applied while the brake pedal is depressed, the vehicle accelerates slower than usual (reduced engine torque).
