FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
It was raining and I was accelerating hard to pass a slow vehicle when the engine malfunction light started blinking and I lost power and could no longer accelerate. I had to pull over into an empty driveway. Had I not been able to pull over into a driveway, I would have been stuck on a 2 lane road with a 55 mph speed limit and no way to get the car completely off the road, endangering myself, any passengers, and others traveling the road. The car has only 28,000 miles on it and is at the dealership right now being inspected. The only warning light turned on when the problem started, blinked a few times, and then turned itself off, but I still had no acceleration and could not get the car above 10 mph.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The standard driving headlights have become very dim over the past 2 years. Have replaced the bulbs with two different manufactured light bulbs with no discernable brightness change in the headlight. The lights did not illuminate any of the road when driving at night. Very dangerous situation. Had to use high beams to get any road illumination. Replaced the entire lighting assembly as online forums recommended that the issue was a delamination of the projector in the assembly. Newly installed assemblies on both sides remedied the problem.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
Got into the RDX, closed the driver door and rear glass shattered. Called Dealership and spoke with salesman and service manager and both said they never heard of this before. Reading online this has happened several times. Acura in Canada has acknowledged that this is a defect and repairs are done under warranty. What can be done in USA?

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Low beam headlights have become continually worse in the past four years. The bulbs are working fine, but the low beam headlights only project light out a few feet from the front of the car. The car is unsafe and undriveable at night using only the low beam headlights. The high beam headlights are fine, but driving with the high beam lights on at all times is also a safety hazard. The dealer told it is problem with the reflectors, not the bulbs. The dealer was familiar with the issue, but called the working of the low beam headlights as presented as "normal" for this year and model. It is NOT normal and is unsafe. This seems to be a common problem on the 2014-2015 model RDX, but Acura refuses to admit this is any kind of manufacturer's problem. The dealer, Acura of Bellevue (Washington) also did not want to offer a repair , even at my cost, but rather referred me to a third party company to seek repairs. Why would a dealer decline to offer a solution? This car should be recalled and the manufacturer should pay for repairs to make it safe.

SERVICE BRAKES
The brake pedal in my car was soft. pressed it and did not stop the car until its almost to the floor. Called acura and they told me there was a tsb as other have had this problem Honda TSB 19-022. the car needed to be reprogramed and fixed the issue. they charged 87.78 for the reprograming. i filled a complaint with honda to get reimbursed case number 12954925. This is a saftey issue and should become a recall before it kills people with the brakes not responding. the rep at honda said thats its a maintenance issue.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The reflector plate inside the sealed front headlamps has deteriorated. The headlamps no longer project enough light to drive the Acura RDX safely at night. The Acura dealership inspected the vehicle, acknowledged the problem, and will replace the two lamps for a little over $2K. It’s my understanding this occurs on model years 2013 and 2014 as well. Deterioration of the reflector plate occurs gradually over time. Therefore you don’t realize that your ability to see the road area at night is becoming worse.

ENGINE

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, VISIBILITY/WIPER
Purchased my 2021 in November of 2020. Two weeks after, i was driving with adaptive cruise on at 65 mph on a freeway. 100 yds ahead i could see a diesel going slower than i, so i looked and saw no one coming at all, so i moved over to the passing lane. I got 5 feet into the lane and the car slammed on its brakes, on its own!!! Thank god no one was behind me or i might have died!! I reported this to Acura within 1 week, and then reported it to DOT the next week. I own one of the first 2021 s made, so i didn’t see a lot of feedback. Now after a year and a half i get on the DOT website and see many complaints like mine. This has happens to me maybe once every 3 weeks. Why has the DOT done nothing about this??!!! Also the DOT says there are no recalls on my car but if you go to the Acura website it says my car is under recall for a driveshaft problem, of which i never received a notice. Why does the DOT exist??

Hi, I have a 2020 Acura RDX, and it haves a popping and cracking sound on the speaker even wend the radio is of. And it have being check buy the dealer Bella International in Puerto Rico, and they say they cant fix it, to keep using it like that and that’s not an answer to my problem, know they are not answering the phone, the unit is still on warranty, please what can I do? Thanks

The contact owns a 2020 Acura RDX. The contact stated while driving at 70 MPH in the rain, the vehicle upshifted and downshifted independently. The check engine warning illuminated. The vehicle continued to downshift. The accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond, and the vehicle continued to decelerate. The contact veered to the side of the roadway and parked the vehicle. The contact then turned off the vehicle for 30 seconds. The contact stated that as he restarted the vehicle, the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle then operated as needed while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

The vehicle is a 2020 Acura RDX Advance, with 12,600 miles and was purchased new 17 months previously. On March 4, 2022 the MOONROOF EXPLODED. While driving I heard a "pop" from above my head. Fortunately the inner roof cover was closed such that the shattered glass did not enter the cabin - had the inner roof been open driver and passengers would have been endangered due to the broken glass. Vehicle was taken immediately to the Acura dealer for inspection. They took pictures (not available to me) and submitted to Acura corporate. After waiting for over a week the dealer finally contacted me stating the moonroof would not be covered under warranty. I submitted claim to my insurance and the roof has been repaired. The moonroof explosion happened suddenly and unexpectedly, no object hit the roof.

Was driving on the interstate with slight rain and trying to accelerate but then the check engine light started flashing and the car would not accelerate. Speed on the interstate is 70mph, but the car immediately dropped down to 35mph. Traffic behind me had to slow down to avoid an accident as I had to move the car to the side of the road. Restarted the car and the check engine light disappeared.

I was driving at 65 MPH on the highway in the left lane during a rainstorm. Suddenly the engine shuttered and began to shut down. I could not accelerate the engine. The engine light came on and was flashing. I was fortunate enough to maneuver through traffic to the shoulder of the road - sitting there where other drivers would not be expecting to see a car. I turned the car off and sat there in a rainstorm for 15 minutes hoping not to get hit. I started the car and it seemed to work fine for the remained of the trip with no issues or engine light flashing. Very dangerous situation for me - I shutter to think what might have happened if my wife was driving with the kids and this happened. She would make me sell the car today.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
While I was reversing my car on my driveway, I heard the loud pop sound and back window was shattered. My car did not hit any thing. It just happened without any impact. I have been told that this is an ongoing problem with this vehicle and manufacturer has back order for the windows and no time frame when it can be replaced. This is very bad as I will not be able to drive the car until the back windows is replaced. There is a huge safety issue as it happens without any impact.

Rear lift gate window shattered while parked. Nothing came into contact with the vehicle or the glass before it shattered. Reached out to insurance company and was referred to Safelite. Safelite inspected the glass and crash wrapped the window. Other 2019-2021 RDX’s are experiencing the same issue hence the glass to fix it, is backordered. If I had been driving the vehicle it would have been a safety hazard. There were no warning lights or indications that the window was going to shatter.

The contact owns a 2020 Acura RDX. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, she approached the rear of the vehicle to open the hatch and noticed that the edges of the rear window was crumbling. The contact stated that upon opening the hatch, the middle of the hatch window cracked and the pieces fell inside the trunk. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the contact that they could not determine that the failure was a Manufacturer’s defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist unless the dealer determined that it was a Manufacturer’s defect. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 22,908.
