On 9/22/22 travelling on I-290 near Boylston, MA I was passing a large tractor trailer in the far left lane going up a hill. It was and had been raining very hard for at least the previous hour. When I stepped on the accelerator to increase speed, the car suddenly decelerated to about 20 mph and the check engine light began flashing. I was able cross all three lanes in very heavy traffic to the shoulder. I then slowly made my way off the interstate to a gas station right beyond the exit. My passengers and I were very concerned about the suddenness and the abrupt reduction in speed on an extremely busy roadway. A call to the nearest Acura dealer service department confirmed he had seen nearly the same symptoms the prior week under similar road conditions and the same model car as mine. He found no codes on the other car. I also notified Acura customer service who confirmed the existence of a Service Bulletin on precisely this issue (flashing light with loss of power).

The headlights are very dim. It doesn’t happy in one day, it’s a gradual process to get worse by the day. It’s so dangerous to drive at night. Replacing bulb, cleaning do not help. It’s the whole fixture and cost so much to replace. Dealer said $1000 each. Should be recalled to fix it.

I purchased my 2015 Acura RDX in February 2022. You obviously don't test drive vehicles at night so I was unaware of the EXTREMELY dim headlights until a week later. I drove to the store and it was dark when I was done. As I started driving home I noticed it didn't look like my headlights were on. I had no choice but to turn the high beams on and continue home. The next day, I immediately contacted the dealership I bought my Acura from and was told my warranty doesn't cover headlights. I have had no choice on multiple occasions to drive at night. I have come an inch away from hitting a pedestrian walking with a toddler, running into a ditch and almost running off the road into a stop sign. I contacted Acura and was told there is no recall on the RDX but there is one on the RLX for the exact same issue. Why haven't the RDX's been recalled yet when they are having the SAME major headlight issues also? This is a massive safety issue. It is going to cost me over a thousand dollars to fix the issue and I've only had the vehicle for 7 months. I don't have that kind of money. I am a cashier for god sakes. I feel the ONLY way for Acura to issue a recall is for someone to get seriously hurt or even killed. Had I known about this major safety issue, I would of NEVER purchased it. Acura needs to be held accountable for this. It's NOT a wear and tear issue. It's the aluminum film on the headlight inner reflector.

Transmission was stuck in 1st gear. This situation happened to me while stopped at red light with auto idle stop engaged, when it restarted at green light, transmission got stuck in 1st gear, I drove for about 1/4 mile and still the vehicle would not shift gears. I pulled over safely to the curb, shut down the car, waited 10 seconds and restarted, vehicle drove normally back home I had it all recorded on my dash cam and took the car to the dealer, showed the video and there were ZERO findings, nothing was recorded on the car error logs according to the dealer.

On this model car, the low beams get so dangerously dim, that (my case for example), I literally could not tell if the low beam headlights were on or off if I were driving on a street where any street lights (even just residential neighborhood street lights) were anywhere within eyesight. The only time I could make out that they were on would be if I were on a pitch black section of a street, in which case I could see a very faint glow that only extended maybe four-feet out. And when I parked facing the garage door at night, just about three feet from the garage door, both the running lights and the flashers were far (not just a little) brighter than the low beams. The low-beam reflector itself oxidizes, is not reflective at all, and no amount of brighter bulbs or clean outside lenses will help with a reflector that doesn’t reflect. (It’s also not related to the cloudy inner-lens. It’s the reflector.) Replacing the entire headlight assembly is the only solution. People who mean well and aren't familiar with the specifics of the Acura RDX 2013 to 2015 problem will give you conventional advice (clean the outside lenses and buy the brand bulbs they like), but they are incorrect. There is a widespread and extreme problem and defect with this specific generation of the Acura RDX. The deterioration also happens gradually, so you don’t necessarily notice it at first, but it gradually gets worse and worse until the headlights are practically nonfunctional.

The contact owns a 2019 Acura RDX. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, he closed the front driver’s side door and the rear window glass exploded. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

I was accelerating up a hill on a WV highway in a steady rain, the engine cut power, the check engine light flashed on and off, further throttle input did nothing, the car slowed on its own. I had to pull over from the left lane dangerously cutting in front of vehicles in the right lane as I could no longer maintain highway speed. Shut the car down and waited to rekey. Vehicle has operated fine ever since. The dealer has not been able to duplicated the issue (two weeks afterwards)

This problem is all over the internet and Acura refuses to recall. My lights have dimmed over a period of time and now I have to run my lights on high beam to be able to see. This is a safety concern for anyone because of bright lights in faces of other drivers. This started happening about a year ago and now I can't drive my car at night. The dealer has confirmed this in other Acura vehicles as well. It will cost me over 2K to be fixed for a factory issue with headlights . This was quoted from Honda dealership in Rock Hill SC by [XXX]. There is currently a class action law suit pending because of this. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The headlights are so dim the vehicle can not be driven at night. My mechanic tells me this is a known issue for the RDX and I will have to replace the headlights at my own expense. The estimated cost is over $2000. Its hard to say when I first noticed the issue but it is at the point that if I am driving at night I must use my high beams.

- #11483039September 6, 2022ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
On September 6, 2022, at 7:45 AM I was traveling from my home to work in my 2020 Acura RDX. As I was merging on to an interstate in heavy, high-speed traffic, my RDX suddenly lost power and started to decelerate with absolutely no warning at all as high-speed traffic was approaching from behind. My vehicle decelerated to a speed of about 20mph on an interstate in the midst of heavy, high-speed traffic. The malfunction indication light began flashing in the instrument panel. I was able to drive at slow speed of about 15-20 mph, with 4-way lights flashing, until I could exit the interstate. I turned the car off for a few minutes and then was able to proceed. This created an extremely dangerous situation.

Low beams (both) became so dim as to be unsafe to drive at night due to reflector becoming very clouded. Many other owners have reported the same issue. FYI: low beam bulbs are good, high beam lights are fine, car has only 75k miles and is seldom driven at night

The low beam bulb seems to be fine. But the road is barely visible at night. Could be the reflector got damaged over the time? No warning lamps or messages.

Projector headlight failure. Replaced bulbs and cleaned lens and low beam is still almost non existent The reflector in the back of both projectors are disintegrated and will not reflect enough to pass inspection. New headlight assembly are in backorder which means this a reoccurring problem with the 2013, 2014, and 2015 model with the halogen bulbs.

- #11481593August 28, 2022FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
What component or system failed or malfunctioned? Car automatically applied brakes on several occasions, despite no obstacles in front of the car. Incident 1: While driving through an 3-way intersection, the car slammed on the brakes automatically. There was a van in the opposite lane waiting to turn left. There was 2-3 feet of space so there was no risk of collision, but the car slammed on the brakes causing me to come to a sudden stop in the middle of the intersection. Incident 2: I was changing lanes to go past a stopped car in the left lane (It was waiting to make a left turn) The car automatically applied brakes, even though I would not have hit the car. Cars behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid rear-ending my stopped car. Incident 3: While driving on a freeway at 65 mph with light traffic and no cars in front for at least 1000 ft the car flashed the automatic brake warning. It did not actually apply the brakes, but could have caused an accident considering the speed. Incident 4: While driving on a 2-lane road with cars parked on the sides of the road, the car displayed an automatic brake warning despite no collision being imminent. Incident 5: While driving down a suburban street with no trees or obstacles in sight, the automatic brake warning flashed. How was safety put at risk? Sudden stopping in a road, highway, or intersection could cause an accident. I am concerned for my safety, because if the car stops unexpectedly in the middle of the road, other cars may hit me. This is the same system used in some Hondas, so a recall of Honda vehicles may need to be extended to Acura vehicles. Has the problem been confirmed by dealer? Yes. The service advisor told me that his car has the same problem, but that it is normal and there is nothing they can do about it. Were there any warnings? Usually happens when there is a radar reflective object above or off to the side of the path of travel. The BRAKE warning appears when automatic braking is applied.

Purchased vehicle used. Halogen headlight assemblies are so dim at night that vision is impaired. This is a safety hazard for night driving. Known issue on this car model, that seems to be due to failure of reflective material over time. Will replace headlight assembly.

Acura RDX 2014 headlights - Yes available for inspection. The headlights are extremely dim and I have difficulty seeing the road due to the lack of light. They are so dim that passengers tell me I don't have my headlights on when I do. Upon researching this problem I found many Acura RDX 2014 with this problem. The dealership service department told me that the vehicle is known for headlight assembly issues, but offered no real solution. No warning for the problem it just occurred on night when I was driving.

Low beam headlights are extremely dim. Have replaced the bulbs, trying different brands and still very dim. This is a very dangerous car to drive at night. We drive with the high beams on in order to see the road. Started about 2 years ago with around 60K miles.
