Repair Procedure Summary

The retrofit of the 2nd row floor reinforcement plate involves a straightforward process. First, the rear carpet in the vehicle's second row is removed, following Service Manual procedure 15303202 for Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. Next, the 2nd row floor panel area is cleaned thoroughly using an Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) wipe, and allowed to dry completely for at least one minute. Technicians will then test fit the new reinforcement plate without removing its protective backing to ensure correct positioning. Once the fit is confirmed, the backing is removed, and the plate is firmly pressed onto the floor panel to adhere. Finally, all previously removed parts are reinstalled.

It is important to note that some Model 3 and Model Y vehicles may have existing butyl padding or Liquid Applied Sound Deadening (LASD) on the floor panel. The reinforcement plate can be installed directly on top of these materials; there is no need to remove them.
