Repair Procedure Summary

The repair process is comprehensive, involving significant disassembly and reassembly of interior components to access and replace the affected parts. Technicians follow a detailed, multi-step procedure:

Initial Preparation and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement:

1. The process begins by opening the passenger side doors and sliding the front passenger seat forward. The negative battery terminal is disconnected, and technicians must wait a minimum of 3 minutes for the airbag diagnosis unit to discharge fully. Protective tape is applied to prevent damage to the ACC power supply, and the vehicle should not be operated during this waiting period.
2. Interior trim pieces such as the passenger side front and rear kicking plates, seat belt cover, front and rear body side welts, and center pillar lower garnish are carefully removed using plastic trim removal tools.
3. The lap belt pre-tensioner and seat belt retractor wire harness connectors are disconnected. The lap belt pre-tensioner mounting bolt and seat belt retractor mounting bolt are removed, followed by the shoulder belt adjuster cover and shoulder belt anchor.
4. The old seat belt retractor assembly is then removed.
